Martin Dúbravka (now playing for Burnley)
Wallsendmag replied to Figures 1-0 Football's topic in Football
Agree with this. He looked assured bar the odd time he came for it and then backtracked. Handling was really good. Then that in the 95th minute. He’s trying to relieve the pressure. They were getting a flurry of corners and crosses in, he’d been taking everything. If he’s not fouled he’s catches it, falls on top of the ball, launches it and it’s game over. Wasn't a foul though. -

Poor decision to try and catch it under pressure. Just punch it away ffs. Don't think he was fouled. Had a good game before that, same as last week. -

Why didn't he just punch it? -

Yedlin is playing like he's pissed. -
Atsu being quick is one of those urban myths. He was never quick.

Tottenham Hotspur vs. Newcastle United - 2/2/19 @ 12:30 (Live on Sky Sports)

Seriously tempted now. Not sure I could bite my tongue for 90min mind. Anyone have any experience of being an away fan in the home end at Wembley? Apparently quite a few Watford fans in home sections last with no problems. The stadium will be half full so if you're a bit dubious of the people around you simply move elsewhere. -
Got a ticket tonight through someone on Twitter so I'll be there for the first time this season purely to join in with any protests. I couldn't care less about what happens on the pitch, that's irrelevant. I'll be seriously annoyed if the protests barely amount to anything but as I have so little trust in the fanbase these days I'm sort of expecting that.
-
No I'd imagine the players quite like it as well.
-
I must admit I wouldn't go back in a heartbeat now regardless of who any potential new owner would be and I'd been a regular at SJP for 36 years, 27 as a season ticket holder. I've never been to a game all season and I've never missed it one bit and I know that would apply even if we'd been playing well. I've found other things to do with my time. I'm a regular at my local Northern League club which I absolutely love, and I'm enjoying watching my football more than as long as I can remember. There's not a chance I'd give up all that to sit in a soulless stadium watching 22 multi millionaires play football. I'm done with all that, certainly on a regular basis. In the event of a new owner taking over I'd start going to the odd match again, but it wouldn't be high up on my list of priorities and would be ifvi wasn't doing much else on that particular day.
-
Possibly his last game in charge tonight. Hope amid all the protests that he gets a nice send off in case it is.
-
I've never been to a game all season but I'm seriously considering picking up one of the spare tickets going on Twitter so I can join in with the protests. Problem is I don't trust the current fanbase to make it the toxic atmosphere that it should be meaning that I'll have wasted 30 quid or whatever I can pick up a spare ticket for as I have no interest in the actual match.

Club are bricking it. https://twitter.com/UtdAgainstAsh/status/1089961390088118272

I'd genuinely forgotten about him until this thread popped up at the top of the board!

Palace was the paper planes game. Think it was a pepperami promotion but I'm probably wrong. Was a long time ago.
-
Incorrect. Season ticket sales dropped from 40k last season to around 36k this season so those of us who packed in last summer (me included) weren't replaced and there's already been several sub 50k crowds this season. Those packing in now aren't being replaced by new fans.

Aye those two will probably be in the top 50 supporters for loyalty points.
-
Loyalty points only come into play for 3 or 4 away games though so it's a strange thing to spend £600 on. Aye, i’ve said this before. The only scenarios where you’re gona need loads of loyalty points are - - Derby matches. (Our recent record in them is abysmal and our next meeting with them is likely to be in the Championship anyway) - European games ( ) - Cup finals/Semi Finals (even bigger ) - Cup ties against clubs with a really small ground so we would only get a small allocation. (This one is fair enough as it’s great to visit new grounds, only happens once every couple of years though.) So although it’s annoying losing all the points you’ve built up, you’re not actually missing out on much in the grand scheme of things. It’s a hit you’ve just got to take. Lad here giving up his season ticket with 367 loyalty points. Amanda who runs busses to away games is on about chucking it in and she's got over 400!

The fact that it's on BT and not Sky is good. Whereas Sky have been very unsympathetic and are clearly in Ashleys camp, BT have given any protests and the general mood of the supporters far more coverage. Hopefully Jake Humphreys is presenting as well because he'll certainly talk about it.
-
It's a decent protest considering the match will be beamed live all over the world on BT Sports. Can't see Ashley being too happy about DW Sports being advertised all over the World at his football club (also him and Dave Whelan hate each other).
-
Definitely. Ashley's nufc and Rafa would snap there hands off For f*** sake. What? They would Ashley yes, Benitez no. Benitez yes. As proven yesterday and numerous times. That's not an assumption when the evidence backs it up. Yesterday was a big f you to the supporters who turned up but it's just quietly accepted we don't do cups now. Imagine this joke of a setup going on in the 90s man. Wouldn't have happened Benitez would love to win the FA Cup with Newcastle, but he's going to do what he feels is right and focus on staying in the league. A big f*** you to supporters. Actively losing an FA cup game that 35,000 paying supporters sorry sheep turned up to and many thousands more were hoping for a cup run and a tiny shred of light following this s*** club is a big f you. Yes Actively losing an FA cup game. They play shit and got knocked out. That's all there is to it. Playing Woodman in goal and Joselu up front is a big indication that we weren't arsed about winning it.

Newcastle United v Watford (26/01/19 @ 3pm) FA cup 4th Round
Wallsendmag replied to morla84's topic in Football
Can anyone explain why they are playing a weak team when they have nothing really to play for in the league!? Mental. What an age for football we live in now when a few places higher and a few quid more in pl prize money is more important than winning something Nothing to play for apart from staying in the Premier league and £100m tv money? Can't imagine. So there's a lot riding on staying in the PL for Ashley then. Club don't see any of that anyway so I'm not sure why any supporter would give a shit. -
Various: Mike Ashley in talks with Sheikh Khaled bin Zayed Al Nehayan
Wallsendmag replied to Kaizero's topic in Football
Whether the club generates £200m a year or £400m a year, for us as fans It's a largely irrelevant figure when the person who owns the club believes that money belongs to him (which I suppose it does although football isn't like any other business) and he will use it to invest in other business interests on the High Street. He stays as long as we are profitable to him which makes it imperative that we get relegated and stay relegated for a number of years. This is going on for a long time yet. -
I honestly don't know what he's still doing here. Ashley and Charnley are trolling him as much as they're trolling the fans. He's worth so much more than this.
