  1. I don't hate him. He's a good professional, just not a very good player. Rafa preferred Colback to him for the majority of the time in central midfield and as a right back he was hopelessly exposed when up against a decent winger.
  2. If he helps them go up then he'll be worth it to them. You can say that about pretty much every team and every player down there. The fact that not a single PL club came in for him even on a free transfer shows how overrated he was on here. He'll be a reasonable signing for Leeds based the the fact that he's happy to play anywhere. How exactly do you know that no Premier League club came in for him? Because he wouldn't be languishing in the Championship otherwise. You're such a simpleton. I'm more Albert Einstein compared to you.
  3. Getting him back on a free is a no brainer. I'd love to see how he'd get on under a proper manager.

  7. Average Championship player. If they go up they'll need to replace him.
  8. Sky moving our 2 longest trips of the season there.
  9. It'll still be good in the corner. It's been canny in there since the 1980s so a couple of hundred moving out won't change things too much. There are a lot of people in the corner who don't sing and it's almost 100% season ticket holders in there as well so there's not much can be done to improve things. The Gallowgate Upper has far fewer season ticket holder and has a capacity of 4k as opposed to the 1,800 you can fit in the corner so what they're doing makes perfect sense tbh.
  10. I'm staying in the corner. If this new singing section takes off I might move up there the season after.

  12. That's what I was thinking although my 1st payment for next season comes out on Monday so I'm resigned to losing that regardless now.
  13. The ironic thing about it all is that those who claim to be against abuse in football are the one's who dish the abuse and petty name calling out on here the most
  14. I didn't realise the club were organising this. I thought it was a Gallowgate Flags initiative. Why would it matter who organised it? Because as I've said I'd rather Gallowgate Flags concentrated on football related displays in an attempt to improve the atmosphere at matches. But the point is, should we stop Collections for food banks? Gallowgate Flags don't do Food Bank collections so I'm not sure what point it is you're trying to make. Newcastle United doing food bank collections is a great initiative that benefits less fortunate people in the community. Gallowgate Flags were set up to try to improve the abysmal atmosphere at SJP.

  16. Apparently he's a better manager than Rafa although I'm pretty sure Benitez came out better in the head to head last season.

  18. There is no point in it, that is the point. Everyone is welcome at SJP these days, black, white, gay, straight, male, female etc. We don't need to start holding flags up to prove it. Those who attend see it for themselves. A gay person is the same as me, all except for their sexual preference. They are welcome at St James' Park and I don't need to wave a flag around to show that to draw attention to them. I think there's every point in displaying inclusiveness tbh. The subject matter isn't even necessarily relevant - but since we're discussing this subject: in this climate where homosexuality in football is very much unexposed and a fragile, emotive subject that negatively effects many people - I think it's a nice touch and worthy of its place among the rest of the flags. Suppose we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. I'd rather Gallowgate Flags concentrated on football themed displays but can see your PoV. I've donated to Gallowgate Flags on several occasions but this isn't something I'd support.

  20. Should do a flag to raise awareness of this tbh.
  21. I sit in the corner and I'm pretty sure there's nee puffs sat around where I sit but Ian reckons there's 5k of them at every match so he must have got that figure from somewhere. I don't think i ever had to tell the club of my sexual preferences when i got my season ticket mind. He was making an estimate based on the % of the population man. If you don't think there's an issue of homophobia in football, you're deluded. How many out players are there, for example? I've heard it myself loads at games and when playing as a kid. And I'm pretty f***ing sure Newcastle is not a special enlightened exception. Also, "pretty sure there's nee puffs around me"... And if people don't give a s*** about all that, fair enough. But I fail to see how a Newcastle flag that also represents LGBT pride is something to get annoyed about. I have my problems with 'modern football', an nufc/pride flag would certainly not be one of those. I'm not annoyed in the slightest about it. I just don't see the point in it.

  23. Why do they need their own flag? Maybe they should do one for the 47k straight people as well whilst they're at it. Football is getting way too sanitised now with things like this, minutes silences/applauses and the like at every match. Most of it is just people trying to make themselves look good. Please think about that statement, because it shouldn't need to be explained. No need to. As has been said there's around 5k gay people attend every match. That's a pretty high percentage which would suggest that gay people already feel comfortable attending matches and that homophobia certainly isn't a problem at SJP (which it isn't). Don't see the point in making a flag for them. It's going ahead anyway as they've already beaten the total they needed to fund it.
