  1. Exactly. They say one thing and do another. It's all worthless really. Same as this fans forum rubbish. Either the fans selected to go along are scared to ask important questions that could put Charnley, Moncur, Carr etc on the back foot or any remotely interesting question that does get asked the answer always gets skirted over and ends up not becoming relevant to the original question.
  2. Hi *****, Sunday's derby defeat hurt us all and every one of us is sorry that we couldn't deliver you the victory you deserved. I am certain that if it hadn't been for Colo's sending off, we would have delivered you that victory. But with the news of our successful appeal, we draw a line under that match-defining moment and focus on recreating the positives of the minutes that went before. Even if you didn't see the game on Sunday, you'll know that we bossed it in the first half and hardly gave our hosts a kick. With ten men on the pitch we were still the stronger side for large parts of the second half, despite what the score line suggests. We kept attacking the game and that meant gaps opened up that our opponents were able to exploit. In spite of the result, training this week has been nothing but positive and preparation has been first class. There's been no feeling sorry for ourselves. Just a group of players and staff who want to show you how passionately we care about your club. We'll put all of the positives and the passion into delivering you three points on Saturday. Over the season so far I’ve seen real improvement in our game, particularly over the last month. Our bond and blend as a team gets more solid with every game and the mood in the camp is very optimistic, regardless of our current position in the table. I’m confident we can take the best of our performances to date and start turning them into points. Stoke have been on a decent run of late and I certainly didn't see their home defeat to Watford coming. I know Mark Hughes well and he will see that as a huge disappointment. They'll be especially keen to put on a show this weekend and make up for that loss. That makes it even more imperative that we're on our game and able to stand up to anything the likes of Bojan and Shaqiri might throw at us. We're prepared and ready. Sadly we won't have Jack Colback in our line-up this weekend after the results of a further scan on his right knee today. Unfortunately this injury, which was sustained at the Stadium of Light on Sunday, will see him out for up to six weeks and we all wish Jack the very best in his recovery. Be assured that in spite of the events of the past week, we go into this weekend's game with nothing but belief, spirit and total determination to reward your loyalty and support with the three points you deserve. Steve
  3. They emailed me before to tell me "prime seats in the Leazes end" were available for £15. I logged into the site to have a look (no intention of actually buying) and they were actually £30 plus the booking fee. Loads of seats available in every stand.
  4. When we beat Stoke 3-0 towards the end of that season I'd say that was the best team performance we've had since the Sir Bobby days. They literally couldn't get near us and couldn't have complained if it had been 6 or 7 that day.
  5. The FA are a bunch of clueless, spineless b@stards. They caused this by putting in a referee totally out of his depth for a fixture of that size, then admit he had a nightmare and then try to screw NUFC out of some money by fining them for being rightfully aggrieved at the time.
  6. He's refereeing Man City v Norwich on Saturday.
  7. This. We'll need at least 2 goals to win this. Is Darlow not ready to come back yet or failing that just hoy a traffic cone in there instead.

Personally my feeling is that his celebration was meant to mock the MH17 disaster and it may emerge in February that he's also a paedophile but that's up for the British judicial system to decide. He'll have had his family in the stands on Sunday and himself and them would have been subjected to hearing 3,000 people calling him a nonce and I think his frustration and humiliation just boiled over. It wasn't a normal goal and scoring a penalty doesn't lead to a spontaneous celebration as from the kick being awarded to the goal being scored takes a couple of minutes which could suggest it was pre planned. It's not a celebration he's ever done before and he had to run the full length of the pitch to aim it at the fans who were abusing him so it's pretty clear what he was doing. Can't say it particularly bothered me, he's just got one of those faces where you can tell exactly what he is and I'm sure he's got a lot more pressing things on his mind than his goal celebration.
  9. He may not be good enough I agree, but he's certainly not one of the old boys merry go round. He's totally different to the usual suspects. At least he had the bollocks to manage abroad to gain experience and try to better himself. This for me is his one redeeming feature. He wasn't content to sit in a tv studio grovelling for a job the way Allardyce, Pulis, Curbishly etc do. It might never work for him at NUFC, but out of this group of charlatans he was the best choice by some distance (discounting Moyes). We should have taken the plunge with Vieira. It might have failed (it's failing anyway) but it would have freshened things up and showed that the club was prepared to go in a different direction after Pardew and Carver and would have had the fans onside right from the start. Don't know of a single supporter who was excited about McClaren being appointed and I doubt the players were either. Sadly with 2 dinosaurs and penfold making all the executive decisions McClaren is exactly the sort of manager we'll continue to employ.
  10. We've said that for years only for them to put together a freak run in April/May that nets them 15 points or so from their last 6/7 games. They're a terrible side, worse than us, but the luck they get when they really need it is incredible and has kept them up for the past 3 years. If yesterday is anything to go by they're still carrying it all as well. Think them and Villa will get out of it providing Villa appoint a competent manager and it'll be between ourselves, Bournemouth and either Watford for the drop.
  11. We're more than quarter of the way through the season now and we've amassed 6 points. We've looked a decent team at times and a total shambles more often than not. Villa will be hoping for a new manager bounce, mackems carry a lot of luck and none of the 3 promoted teams look like they'll flounder the way QPR and to a lesser extent Burnley did last season. I think we're going down this year.
  12. It's actually one of the reasons I don't go to matches anymore (amongst others). A lot of the time it felt like I was paying to watch the referee. We would be in the pub after the match and the topic if conversation would be about how awful the ref was instead of the match (which was usually awful as well). It got to the point where I thought I'm not paying 600 quid a season to watch 22 millionaires and a referee who wants the show to be all about him and a lot of the time seeing him ruin what potentially looked like it might be a good game. It's certainly got far worse over the past 4-5 seasons but because they're not accountable for the ridiculous decisions they make and managers aren't allowed to criticise them they know they can get away with doing what they want time and time again. The arrogance of a lot of them is just staggering and the only thing that making them "professional" did was to boost their over inflated egos even further. Leaves a bit of a bitter taste coming less than 2 months since a different referee totally ruined the home match with Arsenal but there's no point getting too worked up about it because there's nowt we can do. Maybe we'll get the benefit of some awful refereeing decisions next week?
  13. Just the sort of game for Anita to do one of his famous disappearing acts in or for Tiote to get sent off in. Tough choice for McClaren.
  14. Nahhh, Chester-Le Street/Stanley/Consett are all like 70/30 in favour of our lot I'd say. Better ask RTG what they think. They seem to cover this topic on a weekly basis. 100% lads season ticket holders til 1992 and then everyone defected to the mags but of course they never go to games, only buy Wonga tops. Massive lads fan Do they still use that? Makes them sound like paedos. Quite ironic given their over the top support for a player arrested for paedophilea.
  15. Moussa? Always bottles the derby. 5 losses out of 5 for him in this fixture?
  16. As you say in the first one we should have had a leveller. We sat back and they scored 3 from outside of the area. The 2nd one was heading for a draw but Borini scored a great goal. The 3rd one was like the first one, all the did was run at us and we backed off. The 4th we were going all out for the win, got caught out at the back at the end, we were the better team. The 5th, a wonder goal, but a s*** match. They have never actually out classed us, they have got the rub of the green a lot, but never actually outclassed us. Yes we played s***, mostly in the first 3 games, but they were not much better. I don't fear them as a team, I just fear that they will once again get all of the luck. This is my fear as well. We'll play ok but get done by a fortunate goal or a dodgy refereeing decision.
  17. Wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of Mbabu before we go out and spend on a left back. A quality CB and CM we definitely need.
  18. Agree but Gini shouldn't be a replacement for Colback as others have initiated. I think we need to prioritise bringing in another DCM in January as Colback, Anita and Tiote aren't good enough.

Agree. Just need to play the match and forget who it's against. I'd be confident if it was against any of the other bottom 6 teams but we just seem to go to pieces in this game. Our XI is quite a bit better than their XI so it's just a case of seeing if we our arses drop out again.
  20. He's our best goal scoring threat and people want him to play further back. Staggering really.

We're a better footballing side than they are, that's not even up for debate but I feel that we're just the sort of side Allardyce likes his teams to play against. They'll throw balls into our box for 90 minutes safe in the knowledge Fletcher and Borini will win their fair share of headers against our centre halves and the law of averages says one or two of the knockdowns will fall favourably for them in our box. Expect them to really attack their set pieces as well. It won't be pretty but the mackems lap that sort of thing right up.
  22. Clearly he's not cut out to be a goalkeeper at this level or even a professional sportsman for that matter but we've got to muddle on by with him for another month or so then hope Darlow is decent.
  23. You're laughing but there's actually people on this very messageboard who wanted him played as a more defensive midfielder (they'll know who they are) when we signed him. I don't think they were. I can't even remember saying it myself but people were clearly wanting us not to play 2 defensive midfielders, which was fair. Mole toon or whatever he's called was. I argued with him for ages about it.
