  1. All joking aside though it's so clear I'm amazed at how many people can't see it for what it is. His main revenue stream from owning NUFC is from the TV rights. Now if everyone cancelled their Sky Sports subscriptions he doesn't get the obscene amounts of TV money for the simple fact that it is no longer there. I'm not daft enough to expect the football world to unite and force Ashley out of NUFC by cancelling their TV subscriptions and I cancelled mine knowing that it won't make much difference in the grand scheme of things but it sure as hell makes me feel better as well as being better off because of it. This brings me to my second point. Although NUFC fans can't influence his TV money directly we can completely wipe out his 2nd biggest revenue stream, his gate receipts, currently sitting at around the £30m per annum mark. You suddenly deny Ashley, or any businessman for that matter £30m worth of revenue, money that he assumed was guaranteed and watch them panic and be forced into action. Charnley, Carr, Moncur & McClaren would be out on there ears in no time, because put simply they aren't qualified to do the jobs they are doing. They are there because they are the cheap options but if their presence was costing him money as opposed to saving him money they wouldn't be here and would be replaced by competent personnel. Ashley's not daft. He knows a successful NUFC would be capable of generating in excess of £50m in matchday revenue alone. The fans have that in their power but sadly only a tiny proportion were prepared to do something about it. You could say those who still turn up are deserving of what they are watching right now. They still turn up and pay their money, they sit quietly and don't protest so that makes them a part of the problem. Until they wake up and realise they could be the solution we are stuck with what we have got. A football club (I use football club in the loosest sense of the word) that will continue to walk into the abyss, without any real purpose, no competitive edge, simply existing to promote the Sports Direct brand around the world and to make the owner richer and richer. So glad I'm out.
  2. No I wasn't aware of that. I am aware that the majority of the revenue NUFC makes is from Sky and after that from gate receipts and as someone who has cancelled both my season ticket and Sky Sports this year my conscience is totally clear when mocking those who continue to contribute to this farce.
  3. I've also cancelled Sky Sports as have many of my friends and family and now watch sports through an android box so yes I've cancelled my season ticket and my Sky Sports subscription.
  4. He does have a point, I lived 2 miles from the ground and went to every game, I now live 9 miles away and have stopped going. Similar. I live 4 miles from the ground and had a ST for 24 years dating back to the Ardiles era. Actually went from 1991-2002 without missing a single home game, Anglo Italian Cups, league cups, daft pre season games, I never missed one. Cancelled my ticket in the summer and I've never been to a single game this season. As has been rightly said on here though the ground is no longer filled with supporters. It's now full of families who go for a day out because it's trendy to watch the Premier League, tourists, and hen pecked blokes who see it as a way to get away from the wife for a few hours, hence the atmosphere now being non existent and all the anger that should be aimed at Ashley and his merry men not materialising because those that still don't go either a) don't have it in them or b) aren't really bothered - they are just happy to be out the house doing something.
  5. Compare this to how we do down there next week when we'll roll over and let Pardew give us a good going over.
  6. If everyone just stopped going I guarantee it would force instant change. An empty stadium would do far more good in the grand scheme of things than you shouting (on your own) "Get out of our club" at Ashley who is more often than not, not even there anyway. They got a fright when best part of 20k didn't turn up for Spurs last season but then everyone ran back for the next game.
  7. I'm just pig sick of seeing arrogant t***s pat each other on the back and label vast swathes of our support 'thicko c***s', as admirable a stance as your non-attendance from 'Murica is. Have personally packed it in this season, but a large percentage of people who continue to go were there watching Keegan's and Robson's teams, and will be there long after you've given up. As for facilitating the demise of the club, get a grip man. They are literally handing over their money to the man responsible for ruining our club. How can it be anything else? ASHLEY OUT Please take my £500 50,000 plebs. My gripe with the 'facilitating' comment is that we're all facilitating it by subscribing to sky, buying into the Premier League brand etc. Don't see the point in apportioning any unique level of blame to those watching the football on a Saturday as they've always done. The blame ultimately lies with Ashley and those running the game. Your general point is a fair one but you, and many others, show yourself up with s**** like '50,000 plebs'. No the ones showing themselves up are the fools who are handing over their £500+ year after year, sit in silence like a load of dummies, whilst Ashley and his chums sit there laughing at them. They might as well all drop their trousers, bend over and let the fat man finish the job.
  8. Excellent post from Minhosa but what is this "minor prosperity" you speak of?
  9. They've probably given up on it all and I wouldn't blame them. The last thing they organised was the sit in protest after the final home game of last season and out of a 52,000 crowd around 700 of us participated whilst the rest just slipped away quietly. Despite everything Ashley has done and the garbage football I had sat through, the fact that little more than 1% of the crowd could be bothered to at least get behind it and show those in charge at the club that we were totally pig sick of it all convinced me that my time in the stands at SJP was done and I've never been to a match since, and have no intention of going back any time soon.

    Graeme Souness

Callous and immature. Hope he pulls through. Not really. Can't stand the bloke. Would be hypocritical of me to come on here and wish him well when in all honesty I couldn't care less what happens to him. Anyway I hear he's making a good recovery so you can dry your eyes now.
  11. Can't argue with people saying he's just a 21 year old kid from the Belgian League so what do people expect but for me all that does is highlight the serious flaw in our transfer policy when Austin, a player who scored 1 in 2 in the PL and in an even worse team than ours, was overlooked. We seriously have to stop buying young players in the hope we can improve them and sell them on for a song (especially with our record of improving players) and start buying players who can make an impact here and now. As things stand our main striker is on course to finish the season with more yellow cards than goals.
  12. The Serbian Billy Whitehurst.
  13. A very good summary Glad I wrapped in my season ticket so I'm not part of it anymore.

    Graeme Souness

Just read about him being in hospital. I was always told if you can't say anything nice don't say anything at all so I'll leave it at that.
  15. Nothing to suggest there's any real quality there. Add that to the fact that the players we have are generally a bunch of spineless b@stards and it's clear we're in a spot of bother here.
  16. And you'd trust those in charge of player recruitment to bring in the players we need?
  17. So far he's been even worse than we expected. Good chance he could go from being in the Ligue 1 worst XI for 14/15 to the Premier League worst XI in 15/16. Graham Carr wants shot with sh!t.
  18. Think he has to go now. But what about the people who appointed him? Will they be given the opportunity to appoint yet another dud?
  19. Please form an orderly queue.....
  20. Glad we've got Thauvan and Cabella to come back instead. And to think we managed to sign the pair of them for £25m whilst letting Ben Arfa go for nowt. Charnley/Carr/Moncur certainly know their stuff.
  21. Pretty sure it was used on the 10/10 video that was produced around Xmas 1992 to celebrate winning our first 10 games (even though it was actually 11).
