Yohan Cabaye (now sporting coordinator at Paris Saint-Germain)
Wallsendmag replied to a topic in Football
I don't see how we could be seen as a bigger attraction than Crystal Palace at the minute. They finished above us in the league, pay their staff more (that's why we lost Pardew to them), they're based in London which I believe is a big pull especially to Foreign players and probably have the most atmospheric stadium in the league as opposed to the morgue that is SJP. Besides Cabaye has already been here and knows how the club operates so he'd be a fool to come back for more. -

Never missed a single home game from Hull City at the end of the 1990/91 season to Leicester in 2004. Friendlies, Anglo Italian cups the lot. Since that Leicester game I've probably missed about a dozen home games, 4 of them this season and as thin stand I'm not expecting to go to any home games next season. Probably used to average about 8/9 aways a season as well but didn't do a single one last season.

You've missed out Wise and Kinnear.

Exactly. As long as Ashley's here all we'll ever have managing the 1st team is a "yes man" who won't really be up to the job. Vieira was never going to allow other people to tell him who his backroom staff are, which players he'll be signing and having his best players sold from underneath him. McClaren is out of work and has just finished 8th in the Championship so his stock isn't exactly high and he'll be grateful to get back into football at PL level so will just do as he's told, same as Pardew, same as Carver. In short, nothing's changed and those who believed what Ashley said in his interview should feel silly.

This. Feeling vindicated for not renewing my season ticket though. If they sign some decent players and are doing ok I'll go and watch them and if nothing changes, as I suspect it won't, then I'll not bother.

All the best Jonas. Always welcome in Newcastle.

Never heard owt from them either which I'm amazed at considering the hard sell and the bombardment of emails I've received punting tickets for the last few home games. Wor lass who's a Mackem for her sins packed in her season ticket 2 seasons ago when our son was born and she got a nice letter thanking her for her support during the previous seasons (she'd had her season ticket over 15 years) and they'd enclosed a voucher for a free ticket to their first home game of the season which happened to be against Liverpool. Obviously it was meant as a bit of a taster to get her to renew but I thought it was still a canny gesture and because she didn't end up using the voucher they sent her another one for another game later in the season. They still send her the legion of light magazine as well which is posted out to their season ticket holders every couple of months. Being petty as I am if I'm in when it gets delivered it goes straight in the bin.

I didn't renew mine a couple of seasons ago and I had 109 loyalty points. My status changed from season ticket holder to General sale on the online ticket office but my points remained. When I got it back last season it changed my status back to season ticket holder and my points were still on and it meant I could still use them whereas they were worthless when I was general sale.

"Once the renewal deadline has passed, any seats that have not been renewed will be released on general sale so supporters are advised to return their forms quickly to avoid disappointment". I laughed at that bit. Looks like I'm going to be disappointed then.

Newcastle United 2-0 West Ham - SUPER SUNDAhaha - 24/5/15

Completely agree - if only Ashley realised what a bit of ambition, a team and manager to match could actually create. Win or loose, the club would be a place to enjoy again and one would actually look forward to experiencing all the time. SJP in full voice every week used to be incredible and the envy of a lot of clubs, managers and players. Teams used to fear coming to SJP for that very reason. It would not take much to get that back IMO, the fans would be happier, spend more money and ashley would get more from it to (financially and less s*** from the fans). We all win then and players would actually want to come and play for us again! Tbh SJP wasn't really jumping every week even when KK was the manager after it went all seater. I remember when we beat Bolton 2-1 (the day after my 18th Birthday) to go 12 points clear, the atmosphere was completely dead that day and we all thought we would go on and win the Premier League that season. You had the odd game where the atmosphere was electric, usually v Man Utd, but that was the exception rather than the rule. -

When all 4 sides of SJP are up off their seats singing together like what happened at times yesterday there isn't a better atmosphere anywhere in the country. Absolutely deafening and you could visibly see the players feeding off it which was great to see. -
Maybe a hundred or so stayed back, everyone else left Aye right

This for me like. He did seem quite emotional and I thought it was nice of him to mention them after ensuring survival. I'm sure their families would have appreciated that. Now he just needs to do the honourable thing and admit he's woefully short of being able to do the job and resign his position. Can't see it though.
-
He's ran the club the same way for 8 years. He's not going to suddenly change his stance now, let's be clear about that. We'll sell a few players this summer and spend a small amount replacing them, enough for Ashley to believe we'll finish outside the bottom 3, and repeat for the season after etc. Thankfully with my season ticket now cancelled I'm not part of it anymore and he isn't getting another penny from me. The crack at the match yesterday suggests many people have chucked in their tickets which is probably why he came out and spoke to the cameras for the first time. Hopefully people will see straight through his lies now.
-
He just goes to bits when he gets a sniff of goal. No strikers instinct whatsoever. That's something you can't coach and he should be one of many to be part of the clear out.
-
Should have been handed his P45 and shown the exit door on the final whistle. In the 1st half when things weren't going well he wouldn't even leave his seat in the dugout, sending Stone out instead, coward that he is.

First half was awful, 2nd half far better. Jonas was unbelievable and that will probably go down as my favourite Newcastle goal since David Kelly's v Portsmouth in 1992, both at the Gallowgate as well. Special mention for Anita who had his best game by far in a Newcastle shirt today. Atmosphere was as noisy as I can remember at times, nervy at others. Time for a clear out now. -
If just like to echo this sentiment. I also hope he isn't assaulted and ends his day in the RVI.
-
Agree. If it came down to choice I would genuinely prefer us to go down and Ashley to get so much abuse he has to leave during the match for his own safety then for us to stay up and him to get an easy afternoon.

Graham Fenton. And rightly so as well.

Relegation play offs for them.

"In the last ten games we have had some big performances from big players, but we have been inconsistent that's for sure". What big performances from which big players John? And I also disagree that we've been inconstent. 9 defeats and a draw from 10 games is very consistent.
