  1. That would be a good start. Thinking back to our season in the Championship though our lowest gate then was the opening game v Reading, around 36k or thereabouts so really it should be lower than that as that game wasn't officially boycotted just people pissed off about getting relegated.
  2. Yet another email from NUFC sent at 6:06 this morning begging me to buy a Spurs ticket (despite me being a season ticket holder). They really mustn't have sold many tickets to members/general sale so they've played their part. Just a case of seeing how many season ticket holders play theirs.

    Sunderland

As far as stupidity and bad timing goes it has to be in a par with the time they had a "green" day when they all turned up wearing something green to celebrate Niall Quinn and his Irish consortium buying them. Problem was their opponents that day were Plymouth Argyle who must have been given a huge lift thinking they'd brought 25,000 fans with them all decked out in green which undoubtedly inspired them to a 3-2 victory. Yes those mackems really are a thick breed.

When I first looked at that plane and noticed it's call sign (GAYMK) the first thing I thought of was gay mackems for some reason. Made me chuckle anyway.
  5. And another email from them this morning (6.02am) about Spurs tickets.

    John Carver

    · John Carver walks into a bank in Newcastle. He walks up to the teller and says: “I’d like to withdraw £5,000 please”. The teller replies “Certainly sir! All I need is to see some identification.” Carver, taken aback, replies “This is really embarrassing. But I don’t have any I.D. on me. But I’m John Carver. You can ask anybody around here. They will tell you who I am.” The teller replies sternly “I know who you are sir. But I still need some sort of proof of identification. I’m sorry.” Bemused, Carver asks “is there really nothing you can do?” The teller says “Well. There is one thing. A number of years ago we had this same situation with Obafemi Martins. Obafemi came in without any form of I.D. to prove who he was. So he said he would prove it by doing something an impostor couldn’t possibly do. He set a football down in the street outside. He then proceeded to kick it as hard as he possibly could. He kicked the ball so far, we knew it had to be him.” John replies: “Interesting. Were there any other cases?” The teller smiles and replies:”Yes actually. Not one year ago we had Hatem Ben Arfa in. Same problem again. So Hatem proceeds to put the ball on the floor, and starts juggling it with his feet. He goes on to do a number of tricks, and we knew it absolutely had to be him. “So Sir, is there anything you could do to prove to us who you are?” the teller asks. Carver stops to think for a minute. He shakes his head and replies “I can’t think of anything at all. I’m not sure if there’s a solution here. Honestly, I Dont have a clue..” The teller asks “Will that be large or small notes sir?”
  7. How come I never get e-mails off the club?? Do you have an email address?
  8. If the desperate emails I've been receiving off them all week (6 since Monday) telling me Spurs (and Swansea) tickets are still on general sale are anything to go by, ticket sales are very slow. Add to that the season ticket holders that don't show and the gaps will definitely be noticeable on the telly. It'll be interesting to see if Sky reference it. Can't remember looking forward to a match as much in ages and I'm boycotting it!

I'd take that in a heartbeat!

    John Carver

Tbf the writing was on the wall a few weeks back when Carver came out and outlined the plans for the summer and then yesterday said he's planning on a change of captaincy for next season.
  11. I'm sure some people forget that Pardew was a recently sacked League 1 manager with more relegations on his CV than trophies when he arrived and he is the calibre of manager we will attract under this regime so it'll be someone of similar ilk in the summer although Carver getting the gig still wouldn't surprise me providing he can guide us to the holy grail of 17th.
  12. You're assuming that he hates you as much as you hate him. A fair assumption I would say. An ego-centric assumption, I'd say. Oh well, here goes. To be honest, the boycott all feels a bit naive. Similar to the Sack Pardew campaign - a howl of anger rather than anything constructive. We'll soon be appointing a permanent manager, and I'm wondering what any half-decent candidate is going to make of the club. Despite the campaigners' opinion of his ability, Pardew's standing in the game was reasonably good and will only have been enhanced by events at Palace. Candidates will have seen the guy driven out by supporters and may well think twice about putting themselves in the same position. Similarly any waverers are going to be concerned about harnessing themselves to an owner who is subject to a similar campaign. So altogether, I expect that - as with the results of the Pardew campaign - we'll end up in a worse position. Ashley had always had a piggybank attitude to spending money, and he's now got the club in a position where there's some surplus cash to spend. Personally, I'd like to see what he's prepared to do this summer. People will say that we're reached the same position before, but the situation now is a bit different, and will be an acid test of whether he's prepared to spend on the team or try to recoup his previous investment. If you're expecting a half decent candidate to come forward and want to take over as the next manager, working under Ashley and all the constraints that goes with it such as someone who knows nothing about football in Lee Charnley having a bigger say in who the club signs then they do and constantly having his best players sold without even having a say in the matter I'd suggest it's yourself who's the naive one.
  13. You're assuming that he hates you as much as you hate him. A fair assumption I would say.
  14. Tend to agree with you and hope you are right. The only thing I would say though is it's difficult to blame a cigarette as the cause of the fire if there's nobody in the stand.
  15. Exactly. Gate receipts is our 2nd largest revenue stream so I can never understand it when people say it doesn't matter anymore because they get more telly money now.
  16. Same here. Ordered a TV android box off eBay last week and it works a treat so I cancelled Sky on Tuesday. Next season no money going to NUFC or Sky and I feel much better for it.
  17. It's more of a statement to stay away if you've already paid as well. Ashley is going to be sweating the more people who stay away even though it costs them money. why will ashley be sweating he literally will not give a damn Exactly, it's the TV revenue he's most interested in and those who stay away have already paid him anyway. He couldn't care less and will continue to do things his way as he always has done. Enjoy your 3 hours away from the missus. To be fair I get 12 hours away from her every day while we're at work anyway. Living the dream.
  18. It's more of a statement to stay away if you've already paid as well. Ashley is going to be sweating the more people who stay away even though it costs them money. why will ashley be sweating he literally will not give a damn He might not be sweating but he will give a damn. I remember Llambias saying how important it was that the ground was full when they put on those cheap season tickets a few games into the 11/12 season when attendances had dipped and we still hadn't hit 50,000 at any of our first 5 home games. No way will he want his beloved Sports Direct logos illuminated around the pitch to a backdrop of empty seats. He didn't back then and he won't now.
  19. Looks like around 40k sold so far plus whatever Spurs bring. If 15k season ticket holders stay away it'll be sub 30k. Our lowest ever PL crowd is just over 32k which was due to the reduced capacity when the Gallowgate was being rebuilt. In fact we are the only club in the history of the Premier League never to have had an attendance of under 30k. Manchester United had less than 30 k attendance in the past? They had a couple of 29,000 attendances in the 92/93 season v Ipswich and Crystal Palace iirc. Edited 29,736 v Crystal Palace. 31k v Ipswich.

  21. It's less than that now. Around 33-34k I think. If you look at the stadium plan as soon as a match goes on members sale there's at least 15k spare seats to choose from not including the 3,200 greyed out for what the away team are entitled to.
  22. Sad thing is it's that mentally shown by the likes of him why nothing will ever change and we'll just continue to drift along aimlessly, just a shell of a football club simply existing to force the Sports Direct brand into as many people Worldwide as possible. I've been watching NUFC since 1983 but if this latest protest doesn't get off the ground because the majority of the fans can't be bothered to miss one game that's on the telly anyway that's me done with it all. Season ticket won't be used again this season and isn't being renewed for next season. I'll find something else to do with my time and leave watching that shower to those who deserve it.
  23. My god, you depress me. It'll be a huge embarrassment if it isn't an obvious boycott, tbh. The publicity it's been getting (now on FSF) has been considerable, so if the attendance is in the 40,000's we will look like complete fools. No way the attendance will be sub 40K. It was only sub 40K on a couple of occasions in the Championship man. People have paid for season tickets and match tickets, they aren't going to pay for them and then not go. Without even checking I can think of 5 or 6 sub 40k crowds in the Championship season. I'm a season ticket holder unhappy with the way the club is being run so I'm going to boycott Sunday. The likes of yourself have the club you deserve. Hope you enjoy many more years of nothingness, losing any decent talent we might have and getting our pants pulled down twice a year off the mackems. Ps if your home life is so miserable that you need to get out the house for a few hours maybe you should consider a divorce.
  24. The thing is though we've had some pretty poor cup crowds recently (15k v Plymouth, 20k v Spurs ironically, and loads of others in the mid 20k's and a lot of those crowds were made up of kids who can't afford to go to the league games so there's probably only 10-12k max who literally can't miss a NUFC home game for whatever reason. I fear that come the day there'll be a lot of selfish bastards who will think well I've paid for my ticket so I'm going regardless. These aren't true fans in my opinion.
