  1. What about those who go there to support the team? Not the rayjeem? Or Pardew, or is he included in that?

They're also allowing season ticket holders to buy extra seats for their next home game (v Chelsea) for £10. Add this to all the freebies they hand out to schools and the university and it's not hard to see why they generate the lowest £ per seat in the league by a long way. When you look on their forum it's all back slapping each other about their 40k crowds but in reality if they set their admission costs to the same level as the other middle of the road PL clubs they'd be pulling in 25k most weeks.
  4. Aye Shearer was detested and as for that Peter effing Beardsley..................
  5. Let's not re-write history because he's playing well now. We shipped in 2 goals in games against City, Palace, Hull and Swansea and didn't give a particularly good defensive performance in any of those games, him included. I think he's a decent player but let's not pretend he's been good since the start of the season when clearly he hasn't. I totally disagree. One player who definitely wasn't good at the start of the season was your mate, Williamson. You're entitled to your opinion but you're wrong as is usually the case when you start typing. We were shambolic defensively until the start of last month. None of the back 4 were playing well at the start of the season with the exception of Janmaat who was decent and now looks like a great signing. Anyone who watched us over the first half dozen games knows this. Funny you've made 3 posts on the subject without being able to allude to one game in which Dummett individually played badly. He didn't play particularly well in any of the 4 games I mentioned and he certainly hasn't defended well all season as you said earlier. That's clearly a load of rubbish and anyone who attended any of those games mentioned would agree. Anyway I'm bored with you now so goodbye.

  8. He hasn't defended well all season. He's played very well in recent weeks though.
  9. Seen them a couple of times on the telly lately and thought they looked canny. They've certainly improved massively from the start of the season when they looked nailed on for relegation.
  10. Dummetts played well this season but him and Williamson paired together is a scary proposition. Could do with Tiote back to sit in front of them to try to give them some protection because Austin and Zamora could have a field day up against those two. Think we could lose this one, I'll go for 1-2.
  11. Really good statement that. Totally agree with everything in it.
  12. Part season tickets now on sale; http://www.nufc.co.uk/page/Tickets/SeasonTickets Edited to say I've worked out that paying match by match it should cost £360* for those 12 games in the Gallowgate (assuming they categorise those 12 opponents in the same price band as last season) but if I wanted to buy the part season ticket it would cost £388. Somehow I can see there being all that many takers. *members prices
  13. But we're not 1 defeat away from Pardew getting the sack yet someone on here was still saying they wanted us to lose today (or in his words, "the nightmare continues" after a 2-0 win). Wanting us to lose today had no bearing on what's best for NUFC as win, lose or draw the manager was going nowhere.
  14. Why would you replace Colback with Anita after todays performance? Colback was outstanding. Cos he's Dutch and we signed him from Ajax.
  15. We won. It's the 5th time in a row we've done that. Pardew isn't going anywhere so the best thing to do is to forget him, support the players and enjoy watching a winning team. If you can't do that it may be time to look for another hobby as following NUFC clearly isn't doing it for you. I don't like Pardew either and never will (look at my avatar) but all this wanting us to lose and not celebrating when we score or win is just plain silly. It's up to anyone how they support the team, if thats how you feel that's fine but telling people to "look for another hobby" isn't fair. Wanting us to lose isn't supporting the team. In your opinion. It's a no brainer. If you want someone to lose you aren't supporting them. I can't believe we're still having the same stupid arguments when we're winning games as we were when we weren't. Except it's not a no brainer and you're wrong. The definition of support isn't "want to win." Absolutely nowhere in any dictionary will you find that written. If you want the players to lose then clearly you aren't supporting them.
  16. If it was guaranteed he would lose his job if we lost against QPR yes I'd take it but he won't hence why I want us to win that game as I did today. I've come to terms with the fact that he's not going anywhere any time soon so I'll get behind the players and hope we continue this run of form for a while longer. Fair enough, I don't want us to lose at the minute either. Seems a bit rich for you to slag off other people for not thinking the same when you held the contrary view not long ago at all though. Seem to recall a similar about-turn re going to the match versus not going to the match. Thing is I've come round to the fact that things aren't going to change any time in the foreseeable future regarding manager or owner so I can either whinge on here about wanting us to lose all the time or just say f**k them I'll do what I've done most of my life and simply just support my team. I've packed in my season ticket that I'd had over 20 years and pay match by match now. Ill never buy another season ticket as long as Ashley's here because if we're doing well he'll cash in on it in January and leave the last 8 or 9 games as pointless kickabouts like last season.
  17. Tbf all the chanting bar the one about their support was pro NUFC/positive so I'd question your final paragraph where you state there is a 70%-30% ratio of abusing people vs supporting the team.

  19. Can't stand Pardew but I'm not stupid enough to think he's getting sacked any time soon so I'll just channel my energy into supporting the team, ie not wishing them to get beat every week.

In your opinion. Look up the definition of "supporter" in the dictionary then. No. Some people look for the bigger picture. Happened against Souness, is happening now. You don't want to do it. That's up to you. No one is slagging the team. People want the best for NUFC. You don't get to dictate to people what being a supporter is. So what about those who grief the players when they lose the ball? They "supporting" the team are they? Those who grief the players who lose the ball are doing so out of frustration not because they want the team they claim to support to lose the match. Surely even you can see the difference there. The manager is going nowhere so what's the point in people still wanting us to lose? Now once again look up the definition of "supporter" in the dictionary.

  23. Just harmless embarrassing banter really. I doubt the West Brom fans, who are a great set of fans by the way, will be losing too much sleep over it. Too many people have gone soft these days. Abusing opposition supporters used to be a staple diet for any supporter but a lot of modern day fans get all precious over it. No wonder atmospheres are practically non existent in PL stadiums these days. Thought our support down there sounded top class on the telly. I wouldn't get yourself too worked up over it really. In the grand scheme of things it really isn't important. What's more embarrassing is the deadly silence at home games.
