Seems a clamour to keep these threads into separate echo chambers based on pretty much the same topic which I find odd. The issues conflate because they are linked. I take issue with people flying Saudi flags trivially, however they mean it because I would argue they haven’t thought it through or are hearing the gravity of the other side of the issue. Fans aren’t responsible, that’s ludicrous but I think some are using as an easy cop out not to bother hearing the other side of things - admittedly based off social media.

Probably. For me whether it was the actions that forced his or not isn’t really the hill worth dying on - it was the right fight to have at the time and and gave them pause for thought however fleeting. They reacted directly enough to protest each time in some small way. The thick and thin narrative was I’ve no doubt a reason Ashley bought us in the first place. He’s proved that you debase the club and product and people would still pile in a surround the ad boards’ ahl wi smilin faces’ for the most part. Absolute parasite and whatever I think about the new lads( ?????)will be glad to see the back of him

“Don’t ever give up on your club. Keep supporting it, it’s your club and trust me, one day you will get your club back and it will be everything you wanted it to be.” Yes, NUFC being owned by and connected with the Saudi state is presumably what Keegan meant by the club being ours again and it being everything we all want it to be. I think he meant there would be a time when we would compete and have a chance at success again. Not sure he was being specific regarding ownership. I understand your disdain for the new owners and the countries human rights. I agree it’s a massive issue. Perhaps this will be highlighted and acted on as their ownership of our club progresses? With it being beyond our control you’d have to hope so. Until then a lot of people in the fan base had better get used and listening to the arguments against.

I do wonder like. And I appreciate it’s a nth degree example with flaws but does bombing refugees in the Yemen or flogging homosexuals not register half as much of they were say the French doing the same to I dunno, Belgians? At what point would it make a difference?

Interesting this is thought

I don’t know whether because the football isn’t here and all it brings socially etc. but after all this, Ashley included I’m very unlikely to plug back into football altogether I think. The furlough stuff from multiple clubs, super leagues. Governments buying clubs. It’s been laid very bare how devoid of decency it mostly is.

I’m a humble mud blood midlander I’m afraid

My dad does it when meeting new people. Always call him out

Pretty easy to narrow down a list of suspects, you'd have to have a fucking sizeable haulage fleet available to tally up £1m of Donnay and Slazenger gear. Anyone know what Mr Stobart was up to that night? Getting into Templar-related international escapades with Nico? Horse-shit

They say never go back but we need Erik Dornhelm and Billy Eliot’s dad back imo

I mean that makes a depressing read anyway but to equate a paper manufacturer to an autocratic crown prince who has his family under house arrest and apparent murder of journalists doesn’t balance out. My passport is the same as mike Ashley’s but hopefully the comparisons end there. Ashley’s description ?

With respect it’s because with a lot of merit those arguments are irrelevant, ignore the issue and are tantamount to yeah it’s bad but what about...?’ Sheffield United have investment from Saudis but not the the ones who are definitely in charge of bombing Yemen and called for killings pretty much directly. Governments of Russia, China, Vatican City or whoever aren’t buying football clubs. If there isn’t a difference then it smacks of cognitive dissonance. How is pointing out that our own government sells arms to these people "ignoring the issue". I dont think I have heard one fan say, "love the saudis, me, stand up people." Most of us are just saying; with respect, why should I feel guilty about being owned by the Saudi government if our own government is prepared to deal/welcome them? It's absolutely relevant in my eyes and people using "whataboutery", are avoiding debate. Literally debated every point made by you bar the royalty one and hey you won’t get anyone criticise government and warped hypocrisy of monarchy more than I but neither the queen nor the british government are buying the club. Citing other teams is the very definition of whatabout as it’s a rhetorical way of circumventing the actual issue. I’m not blaming the fans btw - it fucking sucks. I’d sooner us share a pint and not worry about human rights.

Where’s that from?

Don’t get me wrong abramovich is a wrongun close to Luton but he’s copped plenty flak and putin isn’t buying us anytime soon.
