Raith Rovers played their first game of the league season on Saturday, and lost 1-0 to Airdrie, they finished 2nd last season losing out on promotion in the playoffs to already Premier League Ross County, and in the League Cup group stage that Scotland has as "Pre season", finished second in a group of five only losing to again Premier League Ross County. So obviously they sack their manager after only one game of the actual campaign https://www.raithrovers.net/club-statement-ian-murray/

I get what you're saying, and I understand it's important, but I honestly really struggle to give an ounce of care about PSR, it just so tedious and boring, and it feels like the epitome of whats wrong with this modern corporatized version of football. And ultimately, I trust the club to do whats right, I know it was a bit panicky towards the end but they managed it in June, even if it wasn't smooth. I think it also helps that I know that, even if they make mistakes, they're aim is to make us better, so if they think we can sign these players (Which they clearly do) then i'm going to be along for the ride, and get excited by it.

its £64m up front and £20m in conditional add-ons according to the BBC. That seems fair and about right for Alvarez tbh.

Our CEO said have have things lined up to be announced soon, not a couple of weeks ago didn't he? Also, you are correct, PSR is unbelievably boring, and takes the fun out of transfer windows

They've got Champions League, so expecting a season similar to what we had last year, and they have an added 2 games in January due to the new format. Emery teams also tend to have a slight dip in his second season by all accounts too.

I've not really paid too much attention to them, how good are De Ligt and Mazraoui? Assuming they're half decent?
-
He could be worth that amount but right now he's worth half that.
-
Anyone mentioned Jak Alnwick? He didn't look like he'd ever be good enough for National League level at the time. Seems he's had a nice Football League career since though.
-
Jack Colback.
-
Oh and Debuchy was the best RB in a generation for us before Tripps came along.
-
Haidara before that horrific injury was decent too.
-
Rafa Benitez's Ciaran Clark.

I don't know if it's just a me thing, as admittedly it could be, as generally I can never be assed with reading long post after long post. But I swear every thread has become tedious recently, what should be exciting threads just has all of it blown out by what seems like the same people going round and round have a point scoring debate that never seems to have a natural end point. This would be such an exciting signing, but it feels like that buzz has just died completely due to the above happening. Like I said it could just be a me thing, as someone who likes to be positive in basically most things in life, and looks at things in an exciting manner, and try not to get bogged down in details, so I hold my hands up if that's the case, but things like this thread are just draining.

Pre-season (2026/27): NUFC to play Everton at Murrayfield on 12/08/26

Dont see why not, our defence would be rock solid, sound tactic imo. -
Just noticed the Scottish league starts today, that has to be one of the earliest starts in European Winter Leagues (Bar Denmark who have a 2 month winter break). That feels a good 2 weeks early.

Swap Vlachodimos for Pope and Kelly for Burnley, and that he start against Southampton imo. -
How many of the rioters last night where actually from Sunderland? I was under the impression people tended to come from out of town to "protest".

Given how this was a bolt from the blue, I do wonder who are actual target is of RW, it'll probably someone not mentioned, and happen similarly to this.
