Who is better? Luis Suarez or Robin van Persie http://media.nu.nl/m/m1nx2peawfhh_sqr256.jpg Alright so I put the idea forward for this thread based on a debate about two players. Hopefully plenty of people chip in with their opinions on who they think is better. Each week (roughly) I'll change the two players and a new debate will begin. Some points: Opinions should be based on the players ability while in their prime, e.g. if it's Gerrard, think 2005/06, not now. Disciplinary records should not blind someones view unless it's football related, e.g. don't judge Suarez by the bite, but do judge Scholes on his yellows due to his tackles. I reckon it should stay Premier League, so almost everybody can have a valid opinion on it. Personally, I can remember from the 21st of Oct 1996 onwards. Not a day before... Lastly and most importantly, give a reason why! Go!

You should start a thread, 'cause that'll never happen now.

I don't think I've started a thread before. On my phone at the minute anyway I'll fire it up when I get on a PC so I can make it all pretty and biased.
-
Would a comparison thread get enough activity? The talk in the Liverpool thread intrigued me. I'd like to see people have a debate on something like Suarez vs. Van Persie and why they think a certain player is better. It could be updated weekly like the "how highly do you rate..." thread. Could be some interesting ones. Keane/Vieira, Lampard/Gerrard, Fabregas/Cleverley etc.

His scoring record for International football is class though. Scored in the last few major tournaments he's played in IIRC. Record in the CL isn't to be sniffed at either, especially in the last few years.
-
Like 80 goals in his last 110 in all competitions. Scores against the big sides. Can take free kicks, penalties and corners and still overrated... What exactly would he have to do?
-
This stage last year Van Persie had scored 14 , including the winners against Liverpool and City away and goals in an away win at Chelsea and a home win at Arsenal. Were people raving as much about Van Persie last year as they are about Suarez this year? A fit RVP is still the better player IMO and will make the difference in a title race. If Suarez starts doing it against the big sides then Liverpool will be right up there.

It's fucked. So is the main bet by the looks of things. Couldnt have seen this coming.

I'm gonna boke.

$20 on Lewis @ 7/2.
-
Lewis at 11/10 is a good bet in itself but it could go either way.
-
The stat I read was of his 19 goals, 16 were against sides in the bottom 7. 19 goals at the halfway stage is still impressive though, and he missed a heap of games as well.
-
Over 9.5 sets in Van Gerwen and Lewis is 1/1. Crazy value. I'm almost certain this is going all the way. Best of 11 btw.

GW20 Swansea 1-2 Man City Arsenal 4-0 Cardiff Crystal Palace 2-1 Norwich Fulham 1-0 West Ham Liverpool 3-0 Hull Southampton 1-1 Chelsea Stoke 0-2 Everton Sunderland 2-1 Aston Villa West Brom 1-1 Newcastle Man Utd 2-0 Tottenham

Did you follow it? Can't see any other value in the darts until the semis.
-
19 180's so far now that's impressive Always going to happen when two top, quick players play each other. Both in their comfort zone with the pace of the match. Van Gerwen and Lewis should play each other in the semi and you should be able to get about 4/6 on the same bet, and it'll come in then too quite easily. I might bump it up a bit then though. Reckon they'll hit about 25 over 9 sets.
-
180 bet I mentioned earlier has come in.
-
Young on the right basically eradicates any chance of him scoring.
-
I'm out of the cup already.
-
Captained Yaya too. Evra as vice captain.
-
I've 10 on the draw. Had $5 on 0-0 and $4 on 1-1. Miles wrong. Expected a low key draw.

Giggs or Kagawa on the left? Giggs. Can you imagine if Rooney and van Persie were out and he still played Kagawa out of position?
