  1. What were your opinions on Nicky Butt and Alan Smith when they left? They're the case study for why I believe O'Shea & Brown will be massive failures. I didn't care that Nicky Butt left and was disappointed to see Smith leave. I believe Smiths downfall was because of that injury against Liverpool. He was a good player for us. They are top players. The twins would get on for any team in the league IMO and Smalling got a chance and played absolutely outstanding and proceeded to play well with every chance he got. There's a difference falling behind in the pecking order because people are playing so well and falling behind because you are shit.
  2. I think it's hard for a player to come in every ten or so games and have an outstanding game as well. He fell behind Rafael, Fabio and Smalling last season and was restricted to cup games or coming on when there was an injury crisis. The last few seasons Brown has barely played. I think if he's playing 30 games a season he'll be solid.
  3. I don't really understand all the hatred for Brown and O'Shea. Yes, Brown has been on the wind down now for about two years but he's still a decent player. He's a little error prone in centre back but the year we won the CL he was impeccable at right back, which is where I think he should play. A decent, experienced player for £1million? I don't see how that's a bad deal at all. He'd still be with us only the twins are so good at full back and centre back is stacked. O'Shea is a very good signing IMO. The most versatile player in the league who's under-rated going forward (Newcastle fans should remember him at full back). I think O'Shea has four good years in him yet and again very experienced. Played over 30 times for us last year. As for wages Brown was on £40k a week with us and I'm pretty sure he'll take a big cut moving to Sunderland. Not sure on O'Shea's wages but they won't be on anything silly. Just my opinion.
  4. Nasri is absolutely top class. I really want him at Old Trafford but if City are in for him as well that means double the wages we can offer and most footballers go for the money these days so Eastlands will probably be his location in September. Realistically he's the best central midfielder we can hope for as well. The Sneijder deal is dead and I'm pretty sure Modric will stay in London. We've made some good signings this transfer window but the area that needed strengthening the most hasn't been touched yet. Season starts in six weeks. Doesn't be long going by.
  5. De Gea officially confirmed on a five year deal. £18m the fee.
  6. why did they bring out a blanket To try and hide him. Worst attempt ever.
  7. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13906779.stm Might be a Giggs and it might not even be in the right thread. Still shocking.
  8. That's puts him on over triple what Modric is on doesn't it? WTF is going on
  9. What are they? £130,000 a week allegedly. EDIT: Too slow.

    Dimitar Berbatov

Could always wait until next year where you might get him for free.
  11. Spells the end for Benzema then doesn't it? Says this on Higuain's Wikipedia page: "On 14 June 2011 Liverpool FC confirmed that a bid of €18 million had been agreed between the clubs allowing Higuain to discuss personal terms with the club." Wikipedia.
  12. Wrong thread. ----------- Phil Jones finally completes his move to us. No idea how it's worked saying he was supposed to have a £16million clause in his contract. Reports saying "after Manchester United successfully negotiated a transfer fee with Blackburn Rovers" but surely it's £16million and no more?

  14. -------------------------- Is Altintop actually a bad player? I've barely seen him play.
  15. Would sell Gibson and Brown. Would prefer to hold on to O'Shea. All came through the youth academy. I'd be looking a few million more tbh. EDIT: £15m and the deal is done for me.
  16. Sunderland have bid for Gibson, Brown and O'Shea. Thought to be around £12million.
  17. Only got DTguardian on my Twitter. He seems pretty quick mind.
  18. Where's the fastest place to keep up with transfer news since SSN is so slow?
  19. His goal against Bradford was similar and probably my favourite of all time. In terms of importance and sheer quality, his best goal is probably his one against Barcelona in 2008.
  20. That's what I meant to say. Couldn't word it properly
  21. Yeah Ronaldo scored 4 or something near the end against Almeria when the league was over and I think Almeria were relegated, but still. 40 goals in the league is phenomenal as well. Two outstanding players and could well be #1 and #2 in the best ever.
  22. Ronaldo scored the same amount of goals as Messi this season in a game less and and hit 42 in 48 in his best season in England. Messi should come to England, score 50 goals and then leave and there will literally be no-one, not even Red Cafe idiots that can doubt him. Personally I don't think you can say there's no comparison between the two, Ronaldo's absolutely lethal, Messi just has that little bit extra. I don't think Ronaldo could have done to us what Messi did in that final. That was unreal.
  23. Around the same time Madrid had Di Stéfano. Some teams back then too.
  24. It's certainly the greatest team I've seen in my lifetime. I can't say it's the greatest ever 'cause I've only seen bits and pieces of the likes of the Madrid team in the 50's, Inter in the 60's, Ajax and Bayern in the 70's and Liverpool in the 70/80's. The Madrid team is probably seen as the one that stands in the way of Barcelona being named the greatest ever, since it won 6 European Cups and something like 8 La Ligas in ten years, but I personally think this Barca side will go on to eclipse that.
  25. Xavi did stick up an imaginary card in the first half, but it's clutching at straws, they were next to impeccable. I'm just glad we at least tried to attack and were part of a great final. Barcelona's display was amazing and had it been Madrid in the final it could well have been another horror show. He's not shit. He was just so out of his depth it was unreal. He was a major reason why we won the title, but it's a different ball game tearing apart Blackpool etc. and then trying to take on Barcelona. He was lucky to the be on the pitch and a glorified passenger. I felt sorry for him a little bit.
