Bruno was injured prior to Tranmere but wasn’t picked up. Was only brought on to take a potential penalty. Having seen his effort against Crystal Palace EH might have second thoughts this time ?

Always helps with these kind of posts if you give a hint of what tune it’s to ? Still wondering what the Dan Burn one is?

I see the ref is who we had for Crystal Palace league game… No VAR in this round I take it? ? https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/match-officials-confirmed-for-emirates-fa-cup-tie/

No idea who this bloke is and no blue tick but plenty of followers…

Just going off the report he’s in better and sharper physical condition than when he arrived. He was thrown straight in at Anfield when he signed. Got to be getting 25mins at least surely you’d think unless there are still concerns..
-
Do you really need that explaining still?

I understand what you are saying but in this instance we’d be better Willock staying down and waving for treatment. I actually thought the incident I was referring to was in the dying minutes when Willock had already been subbed but I may be wrong.

I agree we have to be a little careful. Longstaff going down last minute for what seemed no more than a rest a prime example. I think Pope has now learnt not to draw too much attention and get the balance right when taking his goal kicks. Doing it without alerting the crowd which in turn doesn’t alert the ref is the real art to it.

Gamesmanship has definitely increased greatly since the removal of the 3 foreign player cap was removed (1995) and teams became more diverse in their multi-nationalities. Probably just a big an influence was the increased coverage of foreign football and the influence of the dark arts from far and wide. Probably coincides with the outlawing of the hatchet men as the physical art of destroying creativity was replaced with a much varied and harder to punish approach.

Was it not Juventus? I do remember a couple of occasions he did this but one in particular was spectacular in how long he kept the ball in the corner.
-
No more simplistic than saying he’s been seriously overestimated on here. Like @Theregularssays he shouldn’t be seen as simply just a LB as he switches between that and LCB constantly and one of the reasons in Botman looking so good and in turn Schär also he has almost become a sweeper moping up behind and avoiding the less physical defending to a degree.

Defensive record not the best in the league? and the clubs history ? I actually agree especially under Bruce. My thinking is based on Liverpool we’re looking likely to sign him. He’s young and athletic. He’s an international. Someone at the club seen something to spend money at the time we didn’t have and finally under EH he displaced Kraft initially and had two decent games I recall against Norwich and Burnley before we got a couple of hidings off Leicester Man City and lesser degree Liverpool which probably made EH’s mind to batten down the hatches for a bit and revert to Kraft then Trippier signed. Its up to Lewis now with these cup runs in early rounds to get game time. EH has mentioned a few times he’s snapping at the heals of the other LB’s which has turned out to be a rather unfortunate turn of phrase now that we know what’s wrong with Targett ?

Surely the Spanish lad incoming is the answer. For the record I thought Santon was poor for us both forwards and especially defensively.
-
On the plus side he’s quite athletic with a bit of decent technique so something to work with and coach positional sense and aggression. On the negative side he doesn’t seem to sense danger and a number of times in the 6 yard box he’s flat footed and slow to react to rebounds and ricochets etc. Is that coachable is the big question over him along with staying fit.

Like Willock? Like Almiron? Like Joelinton? ? I trust Howe to improve them that’s all. Its everything to do with short memories. Lewis has been plagued by injuries yet this season alone was played at Fulham when we had the chance to rest Burn as well as coming on at Tranmere. Wouldn’t surprise me if he gets minutes against Sheffield Wednesday. Manquillo played against Crystal Palace in the cup this year as soon as he was back from an injury. So that’s 50%. All under EH. Previous to him they were our first choice FBs and EH has only been here just over a year. So to say they’ve hardly kicked a ball in years is wrong. Will they be here next season? Probably not but FB cover in the short term is not a priority this window. Centre Midfielder that can play both 6/8 priority then a forward that can play 7/9/11 is next what we need to prioritise.
-
Exactly. People on here had Kraft behind Manquillo due to Javier’s form (notably under Bruce). Short memories indeed.
-
Manquillo has never let us down and the club spent big on Lewis and EH actually had him playing well and first choice LB if I recall before he got injured. Have no doubt Howe could get them to play their part in the odd game for “cover” for remains of this season if needed. So saying we have no cover is wrong. Yes they are a downgrade but cover usually is.

Circumstances did change. R/S dropped their value from £80m to £53+£10m add ons and Isak halved his wage demands from £260kpw to £125kpw. Probably both knowing he was injured. The moving part at our end was also Wilson’s injury worse than originally thought but ultimately it was the change at the selling end that made the deal doable.

VVD out with a hamstring injury for a while just confirmed by LFC.

The very reason there won’t be a stop clock is the TV companies program and advert schedules. That’s why it tailed off in the World Cup fairly quickly as the TV companies were having to reduce analysis etc to ensure next show ran on schedule. Wasn’t the first few games in the WC averaging around 15-20mins of stoppage time ?

Reports Frankie De Tory is on the brink. Talks going on late tonight.
