We’ve got 2x Miley, Tonali, Hall, White, Willock to play mainly with Joelinton & Bruno… Schar even Keep saying we’ve six big less games this season before it even starts. Even if we got to 2 cup finals it would still be 1 game less than last season. In an ideal none PSR world (am I allowed to mention it!?) I agree you keep or replace but I think it maybe used as a pathway spot which makes sense if most people are in agreement its his/the place in the team/1st team squad that looks easiest to upgrade on.

And don’t forget I’m in the sell this summer camp whereas you think we need him for cover! So please don’t ever take my defence of him as me being a fan of his!

I disagree. Stats don’t pick up unseen work. Hence why they call it unseen. I don’t know of any stats that highlight him taking up certain positions on the pitch in certain scenarios or slowing down an oppositions attack by blocking certain passing lanes etc. Maybe ‘I’m wrong and they are more sophisticated these days. Personally I’ll always take my own eyes over stats when judging a player. The irony is our judgement of Longstaff is not that dissimilar from the regular discussions we have. I think we both see the same faults. It’s our patience of his limitations and understanding of his fitness circumstances and his appreciation of him doing the dirty work is probably where we differ.

You didn’t see it regarding Jacob Murphy either 🙂 No good trying to judge anything fairly if admittedly bias against it. At least you admit though 🙂👍🏻 Respect!

No offence taken 👍🏻 I did nearly add I attended all those games home & away apart from watching Wolves & West Ham on the TV. I’m not a fan of his to be clear. I guess that’s the point I’m trying to make. I can see his limitations but not much he can do about them in a physical sense. The criticism for him should always be evened out by the fact he was willing to be overplayed to help the team and was injured from December but tried his best. He can’t help how fast he is etc but regardless without him that first half of the season before his injury he made a significant contribution to the team. Most of it the unseen work that doesn’t always catch the eye. Especially if not at the actual game.

He came into the team that had conceded 7 goals in 4 games losing 3 and we went on a run of… Brentford 1-0 AC Milan (A) 0-0 Sheffield Utd (A) 0-8 (scored) Man City (Injured/Rested) 1-0 Burnley 2-0 PSG 4-1 (scored) WHU (A) 2-2 Palace 4-0 (scored) Then subbed against Dortmund finally losing 0-1 at home. He then played Wolves (A) 2-2 Man Utd (A) 0-3 Arsenal 1-0 Then we lost again against Dortmund 2-0 away. W 7 D 3 L 2 both against UCL finalist 🙂 If that’s not a significant change of form after being introduced to the team I’m not sure what is TBH. I think we should sell him this summer (1yr only left on contract) for PSR but let’s have it right. In EH’s system he clearly does a decent job. Do I want him in the team or on the bench this season? Ideally not. Doesn’t mean I can’t appreciate what he’s done in the past whilst clearly running on fumes at times.

Yet we were a defensive mess without him in the team and our fortunes only changed when he replaced Tonali and we started a winning run and tightened up at the back. Im no big fan of his but let’s never forget he’s been quite pivotal in his role since EH arrived.

Not just jealousy of success mind. I’d say more so the arrogance of the fan base (albeit a Manc trait) and the fact (for the older lot) they were one of the main culprits for fan violence and where the reason fences were erected so there was no love lost there. My grandad who’s coming up to 10yrs gone (actually died just shy of 101 the morning of the weekend you crashed at mine funnily enough!) used to say your fans were the worst for troublemaking and I can back that up by saying the only away days I’ve suffered verbal and physical threats were my visits to Old Trafford in the mid to late 90’s and that was with my old man and brother keeping a low profile. Much worse than any visit to Roker Park or SOL. Then you’ve got the fact now that its an open secret with retire officials coming out and confirming how much Fergie had them them in his pocket which although denied at the time was plain to see with opposing teams. Then you probably had that celebrity nature of a lot of them jumping on the Man Utd bandwagon and claiming their support when asked in interviews which would probably also come under the jealousy that you mentioned. So there wasn’t a lot to like. For the record I say this all whilst having a soft spot for them when I was a school kid (due to lack of TV coverage of other teams) and Bryan Robson was probably one of my favourite English players if not favourite player when growing up. Used to always want them to beat Liverpool back in the day. Remember looking forward to the new season starting and you’d just signed Jesper Olsen and were first game on MOTD (typically) and drew 1-1 at OT against Watford in that distinct strip with the white bands around the armpits. Think you won the FA Cup that season with the Whiteside goal against Everton.

German footballers generally always on good wages. Some of the highest there is.

I got stick on here for saying they are a good team. Let’s face it our good results against them aside the two games against them when we really needed a result we lost to them both times. I appreciate they’ve a bigger squad but their injuries last season were probably only second to ours. Not convinced on their transfer window so far for the money spent but still 4 weeks to go.

The game will go ahead as normal IMO. Would be very surprised if it didn’t.

Think it shows up the lad giving him the information more TBH. Not sure what the lads done wrong. Given some quite detailed information. Asked a few questions then said he’ll trust him and pass it on. Hardly said it was nailed on or 100%. You do realise the yellow ticker on Sky works in exactly the same way? If you doubt me read the Secret Footballer’s book as he explains how easily it is to get a story out on SSN.

Think it’s pretty clear it will be this if he signs… “You to me are everything you make the Geordies want to sing, Marc Guehi, Marc Guehi”

Watching some YT and he looks great defending on the grass. Then when he wins it looks very composed. Long term should partner up well with Botman if we get him.

Looks very lightweight compared to the Turkish lad. Not as quick either.

Does feel like every day they are signing a player for £20m+ from all over the world.
