At the end of the day Barton delivered 2 crosses in 1 game which created 2 goals, if my memomory serves me correctly Routlege has 1 assist, and that was his pass to Ben Arfa (who then fucked about for a further 5 minutes before deciding he was going to rip the everton net). Routlege obviosly offers more of a direct threat than Barton (when he has the confidance to run at people) but thats all he brings, Barton has a much better delivery and offers much better defensive cover to our quite shambolic selection of right backs.

To be honest I prefer that, he keeps things simple and maintains possesion.

It's very rare anyone would see jail for assault whilst on a night out unless it is completely overboard (Barton was unlucky he was caught on camera), a fine and a criminal record is usualy the worst they would also get, it just so happens that neither realy affect Carroll in any way.

I don't think Shola has ever been bad on the ball to be honest, infact he shows all the qualities of a good player when he wants to. His consistency is shocking though. Allways a safe bet against the mackems mind.
