  1. Wullie's completely right. but I've fallen so far out of love with the game that it just doesn't register in the way it used too. I imagine others are the same. It's a domino effect though and fans absolutely need to fight for as much of a clubs history as possible.
  2. I just want someone who can get us to sting together a passing move off the training ground.
  3. They all have this really awful overly aggressive way of posting. Like where you can tell they think they sound hard as nails but it just looks weird. You usually see it on places like the Youtube comments section rather than forums.
  4. Yeah, which is why someone like Fonseca is much more appealing. If your club has an identity in the way they play it's a lot easier to see where your players are going wrong too. Half the battle with assessing our squads over the past decade has been that not even they seemed to be aware of what exactly they were supposed to be doing.
  5. I just cannot see anything about Lampard that suggests he's going to be a truly top manager. Maybe it's because he's a sexy foreign and that's warping my view a bit but that Xavi video I saw the other day (posted it in the Bruce thread) is how I want our manager to be. I just cannot see Lampard being in tune with the kind of football he wants to play in the same way. Edit: He's clearly passionate about exactly what he wants and is dedicated to playing it out. Basically just get a good DOF, some world class scouts and pay Xavi whatever it costs.
  6. This came before the statement so it's not that like. It's probably South Park or Spitting Image or something. Or maybe it's some opinion piece in The Guardian, as N-O is the Toon's most middle class board.
  7. And I'm half taking the piss with a lot of this but I do believe it's good advice that before people jump up on their soapbox, that they take a second to think whether or not their view of other people and cultures (and how they think) has been in any way warped by other factors - such as film and media. Like clearlly something has caused people to believe that Saudi's need protecting from our heinious steriotyping and dress up.
  8. I don't know what the clubs statement has to do with this part of the conversation tbh? People can chose whether they want to comply with what the club have said or not but that's completely seperate to the cultural appropriation conversation. People are barking onabout their emotionally stinted ex lasses wanting 'to slap people' for dressing up as Mexicans 'n that man, it's weird. The vast majority of well adjusted people across the globe aren't this strange.
  9. They can be offended all they like, it would just be completely irrational. If you want to be an incessant busy body telling people what they can and cannot do on behalf of others then crack on, I'm sure you hit the mark sometimes. I'm just saying in this case there's clearlly no malice to the dress up, and it's highly likely that the vast majority of Saudis are mature enough to not care about it. You seem to be the expert on Arabic culture though so by all means educate me on why I should be dismayed at this.
  10. It's assuming most people regardless of culture aren't all complete children.
  11. Let's flip this around and imagine some Brit booting off about Mexicans wearing old Victorian attire and fake drinking tea after Richard Branson takes over Cruz Azul. They would get absolutely tortured. I hope any Mexican crying over people wearing sombreros would receive the same over there.
  12. Well they need to get a grip Imagine being arsed about something so absolutely trivial man. The vast majority of emotionally mature adults, regardless of their heritage, will be able cope with another culture dressing up as them in good faith. We don't have to constantly play the white saviour, man. Most foreigners couldn't give a shit about this kind of thing.
  13. Yous are aware that arabs aren't actually these cartoonishly emotional radgies as depicted by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, aye? Like I'm sure they can handle a bit of dress up. They probably even enjoy telling jokes and watching comedy films n that yoo, it's mad like.
  14. First I've seen of his in a while, but yeah, far too much text
  15. Can we not just call a mearing voting for the liquidation of Man Utd or something? Like if we get 19 votes can we just fold the club? Honestly though, football is fucked, it's just not the sport it was 2 decades ago. It's all about excessive money and every team essentially has to be a gelactico to compete. The rest of the league need to hope the same thing happens to them, not try and hinder this, as it's the only way they'll ever win anything outside of dumb luck. 14 teams playing borderline aids football while the top 6 run away with everything got boring a long time ago.
  16. This is what I mean though, the outrage from the media and other clubs is completely manufactured and by 'calling our own fans out' we're just joining in on it.
  17. I mean you could make an educated guess that it's a joke. I would be suprised if the lad photographed on the front pages was being serious. Like I'm not saying we should all be out wearing tea towels, but at the same time we should be able to recognise that those who are aren't necessarily these cartoonishly stupid mouthbreathers that they're being painted as.
  18. Why do they need calling out though? And what exactly do they need educating on? Honestly it seems parts of our fanbase have gotten caught up in the manufactured hysteria. And again, where do we draw the line? Should we hand out leaflets to anyone entering SJP explaining what their ticket money may be helping to fund? Or is it all cush as long as you're not having a laugh while doing it? Like this isn't me being contradictory for the sake of it, it just looks like we're essentially bullying people over completely arbitrary moral lines that we just made up in the past few days.
  19. So we can all fund the likes of the PIC through various means but we cannot take the piss out of it? Like I don't really understand where people are drawing this moral line. If it's so horrific that even so much as wearing a towel on your head or jokingly waving a Saudi flag is complete taboo then honestly the rest of the country are correct and we shouldn't even be supporting the takeover.
  20. People need to seperate themselves from other sections of the fanbase so the can be like "look, they are the thick ones, but the rest of us are great!" The abuse the lad wearing the saudi garb has gotten is absolutely ridiculous like and it's embarrassing that our own fans are joining in on it.
  21. It's a mixture of jealousy and bandwagon jumping. Honestly it feels great, for over a decade we've had to sit and take the constant shit from all corners about how we're delusional. a little club etc and there was little to come back with because they aren't interested in the nuanced conversation, just telling you you're a delusional geordie then laughing as we nearly get relegated. Now we don't even need to say anything, just allow time to take the seat and enjoy the toon gloriously dicking these peasants into the ground.
  22. There would have been less restrictions for City too back then aye? My memory is foggy of how they grew. But aye I think growing organically is our best bet given we're limited somewhat in the transfer market. We cannot waste money with huge signings when the rest of the squad is largely shite, we'll just suffer for it in future windows.
  23. We shouldn't be wanting the likes of Mbappe anyway I've stayed away from most of the pundit coverage but I can imagine the gist of it. At the end of the day it would take a monumental fuck up on the part of the owners for us to not be at least challenging with the top 4 within a few years. We obviously need a good DOF and a top manager then spend the next few windows building the backbone of a competitive side alongside the rewards of a hopefully improved academy. Spunking our FFP allocated budget on 1 player would be insane. The main focus of spending within the next few years should be with improvements in infastructure and staff as well as building up the NUFC brand overseas.
