I don't think that's fair like, we can safely say Shearer is one of the greatest English strikers ever, perhaps the greatest, without him doing it against Madrid.

It's pretty funny like as the link to this forum that used to be on my homepage took me to a page in an old Other Games thread where he was being absolutely slaughtered for being absolutely shite I think even Leffe didn't rate him too much. I know he was young but he seemed to pretty much turn world class overnight.

Remember when Jamie Redknapp was being called a racist for having the gall to suggest Harry Kane was the most complete striker in the league? Great times.

Aye I noticed that. I can appreciate the odd political reference but wish he'd stick to the footy like.

West Brom and Palace still play their part in the top sides pulling in so much though, like Yorkie was getting onto, without the system they don't get that TV deal. So although West Brom and Palace don't get on the tele as much they're still integral. Giving teams even more money for league places isn't a bad idea in theory (it's still stacked as it is) but it's clearly unfair when there's already a massive divide. If the 'top 6' and West Ham (), Everton and Leicester () want this then maybe it should be just amongst themselves, winner takes all. The rest of the league can split the cash up equally but whoever finishes highest amongst that lot becomes the supa king of the leeeeg and the rest get fuck all.

Newcastle United vs. Liverpool - 01/10/17 @ 4.30pm (Sky Sports)

I must have edited my post as you were typing, but yeah. Nobody is getting their knickers in a twist or 'following Dave', I honestly have no idea what you're going on about there. We have to take each game as the come and treat every game as if we can get a result, obviously with a weighted expectancy that it is more likely we will take more points on average from lesser teams come the end of the season. But if we play absolutely shite against Liverpool and get battered then there shouldn't just be an acceptance of "well we never could have won this game anyway" and thankfully Rafa will definitely not be looking at it that way either. -

You said we need to just 'write off' at least 12 games which is obviously completely insane. As has been pointed out we picked up 13 points from the top 6 last time we were in the league. Rafa's record against the ones he played was W1 D2 L1. In total out of 12 games "the most likely result" only happened 5 times and we were managed for most of them by Steve McClaren.. -
Just burst out laughing.

Benitez's results with our awful relegation squad against Man City, Liverpool and Tottenham were 1-1, 2-2 & 5-1. Tottenham did nowt until Shelvey was sent off first game too, although it being the first game might have played a part. I feel more confident of a performance in these games than I do against the likes of Brighton like. We'll not make it easy for them. -
Fucking hell, that's pretty big. He had an odd relationship with the club to say the least but, looking back, I doubt many of us would have had much of the 90s and early 00s any other way. RIP

I'm not sure what to think like, I think we show shite teams far too much respect, yesterday and the Huddersfield game we just looked fucking bad against poor opposition. We just never looked comfortable and they (especially Brighton) were clearly in control of the game. Letting them have all of the ball and then being incredibly sloppy and wasteful the limited time we have it. On the other hand when we look sharp and our passing and pressing is better - like against West Ham, Swansea and Stoke - we look really comfortable in creating chances without the ball. EDIT: Ultimately I suppose it just comes down to the inconsistencies of having a fairly poor squad.

He'll be banned now like, we've proper grassed him up.

Aye, see Nobody's post in the film thread about nobody being 'offended' by things they're not a fan of
