  1. Colo's wages probably 5 times higher as well. Let's be honest, we need experienced backups for this team. We can't rely on just young guys defensively. Coloccini would have been fine in the Championship as a reserve. It just got to the point where him and the club weren't working any more.
  2. He's not comparing himself to anyone else. Saying he was at the top of his game. If I play as well as I can for my sunday league team, should I rate myself 1/10 cos Ronaldo would've played better But he was on the same pitch as Ronaldo, as well as others who played better than him during the tournament. Ok let me rephrase. If I play as well as I can for my sunday league team, should I rate myself 1/10 cos Ronaldo was on the other team and was 10 times better than me? Depends if you do anything in the game. You'd probably have to have made a lot of interceptions, spread the ball about well all game and scored/assisted a couple of goals to seriously consider giving yourself a 10/10 performance. Sissoko had like 2 decent shots at goal and ran at the Portugal defence a bit. If I was to give him an arbitrary score it'd probably be a generous 8/10. The rest of his appearances were less than that.

  4. Wasn't he fairly average in the tournament other than the final, where he was good but ultimately did nowt?
  5. Ian that's exactly what he's cut out for. He's far better when the game moves at pace.
  6. "embarrassment of a footballer" good god.
  7. "You won't have hardly any possession." Is that the correct way to structure that sentance? Genuine question.
  8. Obviously it's the Championship like so maybe we're overthinking it, but with our luck I'd never be afraid of being too cautious.
  9. But we do though and surely that's the important point. Every season we've had issues with our lack of squad depth. If Dummett has to move into the centre then our backup LB has to slot in on the left (if Dummett is first choice), then if he's fucked we have to move someone else there (maybe Aarons like last season, fuck knows). Then another goes. We then end up with a makeshift back line and have to stiffen up to accommodate it and stop us from shipping 4 goals a game.
  10. He was brought in to try and help us become more of a possession side and was generally shot at it. Can't see him having much of an impact there at all tbh. I mean if they plan on playing him in the centre of midfield with the job of keeping the side ticking over he'll be fucking awful, but as part of their front 3 or 4 he's capable of tearing sides apart. He's basically a forward - early on with us he would find space and drift into the box with ease.
  11. Aye, it depends what our plan for Dummet is, if he's ideally part of the first XI then we cannot really go into a season with the idea of him playing CB or LB when needed. Same with Anita, it's nice to have a player who can fill in multiple places but you want them to be making 15-20 appearances a season, not 46 across several positions.
  12. Owen comes nowhere near, he started well and then looked really good alongside Viduka and Martins under Keegan but neither periods were to the level of Ba during his 2 purple patches with us. Remy was close like.
  13. aye, surely a fracture is better than your bone coming clean in half?
  14. they're all proper lush and geet hard on there like.
  15. there's no glory to be had there. Vuckic looks ashamed.
  16. I agree with that mind, I think he's looked promising but I don't think he's a certainty to make it in the Premiership. People proper get on his back though, 'misstrovic' etc.
  17. Fucking hell man, obviously not his fault and I like the lad too but this is so frustrating.
  18. He's a decent player with 1 very clear attribute. We went down because our defence was a joke, our striker was 21, and our midfield was non-existent.
  19. It's my favourite stat, I absolutely love it.
  20. I think it's just going to be boring tbh, we'll qualify and then go out in the last 16, only this time there'll be no optimism whatsoever.
  21. This must be what Martin Keown meant when he said Sagna was 'more of a man' than Janmaat.
  22. It's so depressing watching absolute idiots in charge of your teams make blatantly mental decisions, pretty much perpetually. Sam Allardyce is such an obviously bad appointment that, I thought, even someone with less than a passing interest in the game wouldn't give thought to it. But here's the FA - in charge of overseeing every aspect of football in England - interviewing him for the biggest job in the country. It's mindblowing.
