Neither him or Sissoko turned up yesterday, I don't know if it was due to specific instructions from McClaren or if they just didn't really know where they should be in the formation but other than the first 3 minutes (when Wijnaldum found space in the left of the box and blasted wide) neither of them did anything going forward, too deep or too central.

The thing is I think going into half time he genuinely thought everything was rosey. Where he should have been using the 15 minutes to change things about and make sure everyone understood their role he seemingly just stood there grinning.

He's looked better with the ball at his feet tbf, that was horrific yesterday though. Obviously you don't expect him to turn into Aguero in that situation but he needs to force something. Where are people getting 3-5-2 from? We played Mitrovic up front by himself. The midfield were miles away from him.

Austin's class, he's mobile as well and decent on the ball, he's not just some wanky poacher.

I'd be amazed if Austin doesn't score more like Mitrovic just isn't good infront of goal, he has time on his side and I hope he susses it out, but until he's bagging about 1 in 3 it's going to be pretty hard to make a case for starting him.

It wasn't even that really, more like 5-4-1/3-6-1 whichever way you want to put it.

I actually like the fact he's willing to try weird shit out like 3 at the back, but this was just completely the wrong way to go about it. Very limited experience playing it and effectively 4 new players in the side. I think you really need to be playing 2-3 forwards in a system like that too.
