  1. it’s an affliction I suffer from, apparently it suggests Irish or Scandinavian heritage
  2. both of those games were away from home, it’s a different feat to successfully do that at St James' like. I would say Spurs aren't the mentally toughest team in the league either
  3. I think people are going to have to learn to think differently about the youngsters we pick up in the next few years. There’s a strong possibility that some of them will never kick a ball in a black and white shirt, especially if we do build a multi-club model. What is just as likely to happen with people like Kuol is that he'll be coached and developed and sold on for a decent profit. It’s one of the things the club is going to have to get better at to deal with ffp.
  4. Another really good Olusoga documentary specifically on this topic https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b063db18
  5. Pretty much my feelings towards their YouTube output too tbh. The main host is basically a pretentious hipster who I suspect doesn’t actually like football, apart from in an ironic sense. He’s basically wound up in football journalism, to be a knob due to the music press which previously would have employed that kind of twonk, has died a death.
  6. There’s a lot of exiled folk from the North East up in these parts. Many like me are ex-forces and settled up here after enjoying postings up here and lots ans a result of working in Oil/Gas. There’s a good chunk of fellow folk originally from Bedlington come up here due to the RAF, there’s even another one lives in the same small distillery village I stay in, which is nuts considering there’s probably less than 100 folk here. #SmallWorld
  7. Was a pretty mild winter this year tbf ? Just realised it would come across as a bit random, without pointing out that I live in Moray, so not too far from where the Staggies play. In fact the Borough Brigs where Elgin City play has the old seats from the last time St James' was updated.
  8. he might not be crap, but if Wilson is made of glass; what does that mean Martial is made from? Sugar breakaway glass?
  9. Saw this posted up on Twitter https://trainingground.guru/articles/newcastle-hire-arsenals-black-as-new-academy-lead FFS literally in the post above ??
  10. I remember watching Cack Jockback and asking myself what is he actually supposed to be good at? He wasn’t particularly athletic, didn’t have a great passing range and his shooting wasn’t great either. I remember thinking at the time that every kid released from an academy plying their trade in the Northern League, must’ve justifiably asked what did he have that I didn’t?
  11. Clearly the offside rule needs clarifying and simplifying in the summer. When you think of some of the goals that have stood, when that gets ruled out it’s clear something needs to change.
  12. What the actual hell was that? Cancel the Holland call up now ??
  13. Can you remember the game in the last championship season, they’re a bunch of intolerable twats. Without even touching on the scab issue
  14. This ref think he’s in the 80’s, the tackle from behind yet to be made an offence? Absolutely clueless
  15. So the same as every other thread on here then ??‍♂️
  16. Well if that were the case you’d know our benefit system is one of the least generous in Western Europe, our state pension one of the worst in Europe. One of the most expensive higher education systems in Europe, need I go on?
  17. I really think you need to do a bit of reading around social welfare in the rest of Europe fella. We might be one of the richest countries in the World, but we are a long way short of one of the most generous. Just look at the number of our citizens (Never mind Asylum seekers who can’t work, receiving the amazingly generous total of £35 a week) having to choose to eat or heat for a start. And as for tolerance really? I think the direction of our politics the last decade or so would strongly suggest otherwise.
  18. It would be worth looking at things like the ending of the Dubs amendment, this is a decent article on Theresa May's time as Home Secretary https://theconversation.com/even-before-brexit-theresa-mays-laws-made-britain-a-hostile-place-for-migrants-62467
  19. A quick google has not turned up a clear article detailing the direction of travel since 2010 sadly, everything I’ve found seems to be focussing on how things get even worse with last years Nationality and Borders bill. If I do find something I will link it in here though. as for those going on about the difference between economic migrants and refugees, I’m well aware of that distinction. Do you think the economic migrants from India, which made up around 40% of the total number of immigrants entering the U.K. in the last few years came by small boats across the channel?
  20. No it was a deliberate policy choice and continuation of Theresa May's hostile environment
  21. There is a reason the number of boat crossings have increased in the last few years. That is categorically down to the government closing down the routes by which people could apply for asylum in the U.K. from outside of the U.K. The current situation is almost entirely of their own making. What’s more sickening is that their current responses are solely performative. They know they’re not workable, they know they won’t solve the problem, but it wins votes with xenophobes. The last point I’ll make, and I make this as someone who left the RAF after 23 years in 2019, the fact that there are so many refugees from Iraq, Syria, Libya and Afghanistan has a good deal to do with our disastrous foreign policy over the past few decades. If you can find the money to raze their countries to the ground; I would think you have some moral responsibility to house some of the refugees that process creates.
  22. A week is a long time in football like, just ask Man Utd fans. I think we’ve been unlucky in that we've had to play some 'Big Teams' whilst our form has dropped off a bit. I genuinely think it’s just as likely we go on another run of good results as this spell of poor results continues.
  23. The mighty Man City doing this at the end, they really do exude typical Manc Dickheadishness. Fucking typical of their support that was only time you fucking heard them all game
  24. Because he’s a snide prick who try’s to ref the game
