  1. Not to mention Feillaini's double attack in our game at Goodison, dempsey's over reaction when we played Fulham and Rodellega's headbutt all stand out as incidents that could and probably should have been dealt with retrospectively, but weren't. Its what I was trying to argue in the Barton thread the inconsistancy is truly galling
  2. The point I tried to make earlier was just laid bare for me yesterday when Dempsey ran up to and stuck his head in on Tiote. Very little made of it, if Tiote had been like Pederson and rolled around like a tat I bet there still would have been no outcome. But if it had been Barton who reacted like that the media would have been talking about it for the next few weeks.
  3. Its not a persecution complex, its about wanting consistancy. Rodallega recieved no punishment for his elbow or headbutt much the same as Fellaini got away with two incidents where he attempted to deliberately injure an opponent. Where am I saying Barton shouldn't have been punished? I am merely stating that other players should also be punished retrospectively.
  4. Its my understanding he's now been charged. But can I just ask why the FA don't act retrospectively in all cases? Here's two from a single weekend Birmingham City 0-0 Wigan Athletic Wigan’s Hugo Rodallega was extremely lucky not to see red after leading with his arm in a challenge with Roger Johnson and then directing a headbutt at the Birmingham defender. Liverpool 2-2 Sunderland Gerrard should have been sent off for a blatant elbow, which will now go unpunished because Attwell disgracefully gave him a yellow card. theres those two from a single Premiershit Weekend. WHy then did the FA not retrospectively charge Rodallega with Violent Conduct? Could it be because he is not one Joseph Barton?
  5. Does make you wonder what if anything was said?
  6. Is that unintentional irony from a Spaniard? I'd ask an indiginous South American, but there are none left ;o)
  7. yup unless Joey has been learning a bit of Jeet Kun Do, specifically the 1 inch punch, Pederson made the most of it to put it mildly
  8. And you have the cheek to call someone else's post absurd? Your attempt at emotional blackmail leaves a lot to be desired, for one there were no women in the trenches of WWI, and the world itself was a very different place then than it is today - and WWI was not a fight against fascism, that came latter. The poppy is a symbol of remembrance of those who lost their lives in WWI, the war to end all wars. The fact that it is now being used by certain elements to encompass modern wars such as Iraq/Afghanistan is what is questionable, and that is what the celtic banners are attempting to do - albeit in a rather overly dramatic way. Some people are not happy with the conduct of the British government and the actions of sections of the British army (i'm sure you can find all sorts of evidence etc online as to why), and would rather not see the remembrance of those that died fighting in what they themselves believed to be a just war, tarnished by the actions of a modern occupying force. Of course the emotional hysteria that the government (et al) wishes to whip up in order to get backing from the public appears to be working - if some of the posts on this thread are anything to go by. no it isn't. it is a symbol of rememberence of those who lost their lives and were injured serving this country. just because it started after the first world war doesn't tie it exclusivly to that or is the poppy not for rememberence of the world war 2 victims, korea ? falklands ? etc etc. you can't choose what conflicts you want the poppy to be associated with, yes to this one and no to that one. my guess is those people are the same sort of people who will pop a quid in the tins in many "irish" pubs in glasgow to support the cause of irish nationalsim based purely on their lineage. As far as I'm concerned the poppy is worn in remembrance of WW1 casualties, it bloomed over the battlefields and is therefore, associated solely with that. Remembrance day is for all casualties in all wars. pity those that died in world war II then with no rememberence insignia for them. the poppy is not worn in rememberence of any one particular war/conflict....it was, until there was another war. My sentiments exactly. I would happily wear a Poppy, but couldn't care less about the ''heroes'' who have murdered in Iraq and Afghanistan for example. "Murdered" who exactly? I sense a riot is about to start here........... As a Serviceman all I can say to those who call us Babykillers and Murderers etc is I think you are somewhat misguided at best, but remember this your right of free speech which enables you to spew forth such bile was earned by the blood of those like me
  9. At the end of the day it was far less of an issue than what Fellaini did with his elbows in the game down at Goodison. But because this is Barton, the FA who have claimed an inabilty to act over all manner of reckless challenges etc this season will bend their rules and ban him. It was talked about after the event between the players and the ref. If it it therefore not mentioned in the report something fishy is going on IMO.
  10. Well I've no idea why one of the brothers in question would have had reason to lie when at an awards ceremony at the High School in Bedlington he attended. (Bedlington Grammar as it was then)

  12. same s*** different toilet shirley? f*** off. We've got a rich sporting history. they've got a dog that looks like a sheep. same s*** different toilet shirley? f*** off. We've got a rich sporting history. they've got a dog that looks like a sheep. Bollocks, the major part of your rich sporting history is a pair of World Cup Winning brothers who were from Bothal, which is part of Bedlingtonshire not Ashington. The popularity of the dog in the States is probably what they will play off while selling the merchandise in America. And as for what about the other teams in the league, this is a team who a few years ago walked their current league year on year but couldn't progress purely down to a lack of funds. Remember they were in the 2nd round of the FA cup and FA Vase finalists in '98/99 season
