If and it’s a big if we can get him back for a run of games at the end particularly given how tough some of them are, it would be a huge bonus. The nature of the injury and his record suggests he’s probably done for the season sadly. With Wilson and Trippier in for the final 5-6 games would be massive. Hoping for unexpected positive news

I can see Burnley turning Spurs over in typical Spurs fashion post City. I can also see Palace beating Watford but that fixture is huge for Watford given their tough games coming up. Palace need to start finding some form quick though.

I think we’ll sign two CBs in the summer, one premier league and one from abroad. That would give us 4 solid options with Schar and Burn

Brentford vs. Newcastle United: 26/02/2022 @ 3pm (No UK TV)

Fair point but Willock is one of the few who can go on a run and with Wood still struggling for goals that could prove vital. The good thing is we’ve been getting into better positions to score generally. -
4 We have enough organisation and resilience with the right characters for a scrap. Crucially St James park is a tough, tough place to go to now. My only worry is scoring enough goals but if ASM isn’t out too long and if Willock starts scoring a few. Plus I think Wood will eventually get going goals wise. The saving grave would be Wilson coming back earlier than expected though that’s clutching at straws

Willock is crucial to our survival because he’s the only person other than ASM who looks like he’ll get a goal -

Injuries at some point sadly will probably force changes. I could easily see Bruno playing with Shelvey and either Joelinton or Willock slightly ahead as a 3. Or Bruno with Joelinton and Bruno together with Willock further forwards. Good players can adapt. -

Each to their own but I disagree. I’m sure we’ll see Bruno eventually no less due to the volume of fixtures coming up and I don’t doubt his quality. But the midfield 3 currently have earned their place and we’re on a great run. Shelvey is playing his best football for ages, I just don’t see Howe taking him out of the side, nor should he. -
Leeds so open at the back

Why would Shelvey get dropped at the moment? -
If he can improve his finishing and add a few goals god what a player we have
-
I just don’t see him being here next season. Clearly has the right attitude but he hasn’t proved he can finish in his time here and doesn’t create enough.
-
His final ball and decision making in key situations is poor more often than not
-
Spot on. The calmness on the ball at the back is wonderful to see.

Chris Wood (now playing for Nottingham Forest)
ExiledGeordie replied to BeloEmre's topic in Football
I think he’ll get a goal eventually but he needs it one for confidence. Ian Wright did some good analysis of him on MOTD and to be fair he could be doing better in certain situations holding the ball up etc but our balls into him were generally pants today. Brentford feels like an ideal match for him to score for some reason. -
As great as he’s been I’d still like to see him offer more going forwards. Cant hit a barn door
-
That was the original prediction which appears to have been re-adjusted to “he might make a few of the last fixtures” before the end of the season. I don’t think he’s back before April at the earliest but if he can get a run of 6-8 games that’s massive.
-
If Wilson returns for a decent run of fixtures I’ll have absolutely no worries
-
If this lad goes on another scoring run for us it will be huge
-
Spot on. The results today from Burnley and Watford shows anything can happen but I like our resilience and defence now and we’re doing ok with major names missing. I think Bruno G will eventually come in and improve our general play even more.

They will be crapping themselves for this. Hopefully ASM fit -
Both are definitely beatable. Brentford will be shitting themselves

Honeymoon period well over for Gerrard. Everton losing, Brentford in freefall Its getting interesting now

Exactly, honestly some of the hindsight nonsense that gets spouted on here
