Worried about a stupid sending off for us in this. After Tiote's sending off last October we need to keep our heads, Cabaye especially. -
Perfect timing form wise going into sundays game.

The derby is always a dodgy one but we have the players to out play them and options to bring off the bench. Cisse is bang in form too. You can never predict anything in these games but if we fully go for them and match their intensity they should crumble. -
Yeah better coming on second half running at tired legs given his current fitness. A great option to have coming off the bench.

There are other ways to play FFS! For 70 minutes we simply did f*** all. You don't have to open up and be all gung ho to win 2-0. But our idiot of a manager didnt know this. Have you to slit your wrists yet? Not quite but your posts have me reaching for the razor... Come on you can do better than that I'm only on a windup, I feel "some" of your pain

The tie was virtually lost in the away leg thanks to a dodgy back pass and a ridiculous hand ball. Was always going to be a tall order whatever they tactics back at home

I know this has already been mentioned in this thread but how on earth can Gardner have any issue with that booking for the tackle on Ba? Absolutely ridiculous to think you can do that and get away with it

Sessengon on his day can cause problems with his pace and Larsson is pretty deadly with free kicks but when all is said and done we have more quality all over the pitch. Matches like this should be won in midfield and we should be able to boss things completely. If HBA can make the bench that's a great option to bring on in a tight game or to push home an advantage second half. Plus we all know the effect Shola has simply by warming up. -

Shame, he's f***ing w***. Probably better than whoever replaces him, though. Guessing, obviously. Exactly that. He's always a danger from free kicks and shots outside the area so it's not a bad thing he isn't playing. -

Gardner suspended for them too (probably been mentioned already) -
Is that a word? I wish it was. No idea what happened there. Might start using it now though

Huge incentive on sunday to basically make us save and really send them teetering towards the brink.
-
To be fair he's done well considering he's come into a side playing poorful and lacking in confidence in the main. Not an easy adjustment to make to a new league, especially the pace of the prem and by enlarge I think he's been quality.

Yep, potentially could be a mullering as long as we defend OK. And I repeat don't do anything daft with the red card factor. It would be criminal to give this lot a chance by going down to 10 men -

Our midfield should be able to absolutely destroy theirs -

Definitely, and they're missing Clattermole who whatever you say about him is a real leader for them on the pitch. Derbies are unpredictable but we have the quality, improved optimism after that result with a bit of pressure off us and with a baying crowd behind the lads we should be able to bury this lot. Ed: what we simply can't afford is a stupid red card like in October and I hope Pardew is drilling that into the players this week. They escaped a drubbing last Oct because of exactly that. -
Best goal celebration I've had at St James' for a while, almost ended up in the row in front Fair play they kept going right til the end........ One thing I noticed was how much of a difference HBA would make to our play with Sissoko in the side and Marveaux too to be fair. There were times in the 1st half where Sissoko had some good runs down the right but ended up running at 2/3 players. Having HBA on the right would really open things up massively space wise. To be fair though atleast Marveaux now is starting to look like a proper player with his ability to run at players and put in passes.

Shola is ideal to being on in this fixture but not to start -

If HBA was having a fitness test today then you'd have to think/hope he'll make the bench next weekend. 30 mins against a tired full back/defence would do nicely. -
I think it's fair to open discussion about his negatives, christ I have plenty of question marks about much of his management. But the way some people go on here they give off the impression that they're almost desperate for a negative result so that they can be proved right.
-
I think they'll do enough to stay up, just. I guess as someone above has said if they lose to us and lose to Everton at home then there'll be huge pressure in the games against Stoke, Southampton and Villa and anything can happen in those games given the magnitude of them.
