Correct. For example Everton offer £5m and we offered £7m to secure the player. Wigan and the player then split the extra couple of million between themselves making us more likely to sign him. Shit the bed someone has backed gimp up

Surely there i some sort of rule that prevents this? No wonder England fail at international level...blame Watford.

 I'd pay to watch this to be honest. Pay subscription for a month just to see this one interview.

If Newcastle know BD are massively in the hunt, surely it's best to look at other targets rather than try and compete with someone who is on a different scale to you. It's when the likes of Norwich/Swansea/Cardiff start taking very decent players who we could have done with start pissing me off. We are to them what BD are to us. (QPR/Remy being the exception, that was silly money being flung about).

Yeah but you're always asked in job interviews 'Have you got any holidays planned in the near future'. Unfortunately this interview took place in a pub. It would be very unprofessional of Mike to deny a holiday request he granted after a few beers which he had totally forgot about. Rubbing salt in the wounds really, he already turned on Sky Sports News to find he actually gave JFK the job. Hell of a hangover day.

They'll sell him back to the BBC in January for the same value they've purchased him.

How the f*** do you know who Pardew's targets are? Seriously A journo picks a random player, puts it in his paper, if they are good, it's Carr, if they are old and s***, it's Pardew!

His crap is still better than Perch's good. Disagree entirely. All about opinions, obviously that was an exaggerated one but i do feel if i had to pick one or the other to be on my side, it would be a no brainer and take Jonas. I don't have anything against Perch, i don't hate him, i know what he offers and what he doesn't offer, i just feel Jonas gives the team more. Perch has his haters and i think it's unfair as well. There were many times last season where Perch did Cabaye's running for him yet come the end of the game, it's Perch taking the flack and Cabaye being applauded off the pitch when he's had a stinker. My main point was i just don't understand the hatred the likes of Perch/Jonas attract. I think Newcastle fans are cunts in general towards players anyways to be honest. You can be a fan favourite one season, and then they will want to sell you the following season. Or the flip side, they will want you sold one season, then you will turn in to a cult hero the next.

I dont hate him but come on, he's awful man. Last season he was consistently poor, game by game and imo he's been past his best for a long time. Pardew plays him week in week out and he offers nothing defensively or offensively, so it may be the managers fault. People direct that hatred towards Jonas because he is starting when he shouldn't be. He doesn't deserve it. He plays anywhere he is put and gives 110 percent every game which can't be said for a lot of the rest. Even the last game of the season against Arsenal, he was one of the few that was chasing everything and not giving up when the rest couldn't wait for the full time whistle. Next season he could be a valuable squad member and play the role Perch did this season, coming in when a position has been taken through injury/suspension and doing a job, or coming on in games to see things out to get some fresh legs on, i’ve no doubt Jonas would fit this role very well. The hatred towards him personally is unnecessary and imo shameful.

I can never understand the hatred people have for this man. An excellent squad member to have at the club.

Ian's optimism is underrated on here. If we had 52,000 Ian's at SJP, we could beat anything that arrived on our turf, anything.

Easily. There just isn't any shame to the tweet. That's what i love.

Wtf has happened here? This can't be right surely?

He can't be serious, he just can't be Matthias Sammer, Danny Blind, Johan Cruyff comes to mind. Pretty sure there are more out there. Sir Bobby had a similar role at Barca iirc. He's probably had conversations with Leonardo about Cabaye already but just assumed he was a nobody.

I wonder who's fitness couldn't hack the jogging and resulted in getting the bike out

This is only going to get worse when the season starts. I fear what he will say when someone asks for his opinion on Newcastle's latest loss. Obviously it won't be down to any of his signings....or lack of.

Ahh didn't actually realise that. Just assumed he cost himself his place and the fact Torres looked decent when he came on instead and kept his place.

Striker wise i was surprised Soldado was given the nod. I thought he was excellent against Uruguay, him and Fab linked really well. Nando and Villa came in against Tahiti, scored goals but both still looked rusty. Then i thought Soldado had a shocker against Nigeria, think those two one on ones in the first half cost him his place and Torres coming on and looking good, sorted his place out. Nando and Villa are very much in the same boat where injuries have effectively taken their toll on both resulting in a major downslide in form, they have lost that acceleration they both had to beat defenders to the ball and go past them. I think they both have their footballing ability still there but it's so much harder for them to produce it when they have lost a big asset of their game. Villa is definitely still ahead imo and think that stood out when he came on last night. Soldado probably feels hard done by being dropped after Nigeria then not getting another look in, i do like him but i don't think he's good enough at this sort of level.
