What's happened to Townsend, he was billed as the second coming of Christ not long back by the media. Been hampered by injuries? Although 25 games, 0 goals and 1 assist doesn't help his cause.

Carroll was unstoppable for that 12 month period before he left. I never rated him that highly previous to that, but to be fair he forced me to change my mind. I don't know if he was just inspired at the time, but it was magic. He was, no doubt about it. I just always felt it was that sort of patch strikers can go through and there was as much chance it could end and he could have the worst 12 months. That period of him was exceptional to watch the way he just bullied everyone around him on the pitch, brilliant.
-
Possibly not. Many people love him, can see why they love him, he's just not for me. Style wise and ability wise. He's turned out to be far better than I ever thought he possibly would be and fair play to him on that account, do like to see him doing well but just never been a huge fan of his since I watched him come through from under 18's.
-
Never really been a Carroll fan. Bit of soft spot for him being a local lad and all that but never really rated him. Still astounds me when I think we got 35 million for him.
-
Useless but they still love him? Ron only loved Shearer for the 'majority' of his time here. It's just funny because 90 percent of people actually agree Colo needs to be replaced by Mbiwa but just we mainly still have that love and affection for him, whereas you've totally turned against him and jump on his back at any given opportunity. Finished at 32, just mental, you act like he's now an awful defender who should just retire when that's far from the case. Colo can still play a big part for us next season, no doubt in my mind.
-
That exact line will be used for Colo in 5 years time. 'Pretty much done' as a central defender at 32, utter nonsense
-
No no, playing standards I think Ron does agree he was one of the worlds best. He's just always quick to have a cheap shot at Shearer, like he does now with Colo.
-
Ron gives it his best shot, it goes way beyond being an aaaaaful pundit.

I was expecting a hate campaign against the roof tour, now we've got posters pricing it up
-
I wonder if this is how Ronaldo came to hate Shearer like he has Colo. Claims he loved him when he first arrived, then comes a point he needed replaced, everyone still loved him but agreed his time was up, Ron despised the fact everyone still loved Shearer even though he was never replaced and the hatred began...

Good move for him, stays clear from injuries can see him doing well in that division. Nothing flash about him but his attitude is spot on, always looking for the ball and eyeing up the opportunity to find space in the box. Lacks any sort of class which is always going to hold him back but he should still carve out a decent enough career in Championship/Lower PL side.
-
Not sure Craig Bellamy would agree with you?

We've got bigger problems than Colo in our side that's for sure. Much prefer a striker, winger and a creative midfielder before 'badly' needing to oust Colo. Still happy to have him here.
-
He was at Spurs for a long time, sure his personality would still be there regardless if he was manager or not. He doesn't seem the type of bloke to shy away from an opinion, I think he'll be as straight talking on the training ground as he is in the press. Just a gobshite kernt, but I enjoy watching him
-
Not this again. If we bought a CB to compliment Mbiwa and eased Colo out fair enough. However as it stands, Colo is still head and shoulders above the likes of Williamson/Taylor. He's committed himself to next season and he'll be one of the first on the team sheet whether we like it or not. He's certainly not as bad as you make him out to be, Ron.

Who are you referring to here? Colo/Mbiwa?...Debuchy?

Strootman is a loss, like. Surely he would have walked into that side. -

Christ, I thought we had an average side till I seen that Dutch one. That won't be good enough to beat Chile, may as well stay at home and wait for the Euros -
Pretty sure that Mbia is out of contract in the summer and thought he might be on our wishlist He'll be off to a bigger club than us i'd imagine.

Hope you were just stating a fact here and not jumping ship, Ian

I know this is a bit off thread topic but...do you not think Colo/MYM should be given more of a an opportunity to develop a partnership? Obviously their styles are a million miles away from a match made in heaven but they are both class acts and I just feel like a lot of Pardew's decision making this season, I think it seems rash and negative not to give these two a run in the side. Pardew has made Mym his defensive scapegoat and always seems wary of playing him for one reason or another. When he plays him at fullback and if he's had a bad day at the office, he's one of the first mentioned for the blame. I really feel for the lad as he came here with such expectations along with a high reputation and he's been made to look like a clown. On the opposite side of this, when Debuchy was having a torrid time when he first arrived, Pardew backed him 110 percent and never took him out the firing line. Praising him in interviews when he could and it's paid dividends. Shame he can't show this sort of support for more in the group.

Cmon, Ron...we all know you have some sort of vendetta towards Colo, always so quick to criticise him. I agree MYM/New Signing...however if no signing came in, still firm believer Colo/MYM should be given time to adapt and adjust their game and gel together regardless of height or strength, both are class acts and for me capable of forming a good partnership.
