Yeah, Anderson and Milner is a good comparison. I think Anderson is a much more natural goal scorer than Milner though and we’ll see that over his career if he can break through at PL level

I don’t really see the James Milner comparisons, I definitely see the Bellamy comparisons. Gordon will be able to play multiple positions like Milner did but the way he’ll play will be dramatically different I think. Milner was a workhorse who never stopped running and did a huge amount of defensive work whilst also crossing in a lot of balls and striking from medium distance. I think Gordon will beat his man for pace far more than Milner did and I don’t think he’ll dilly dally or slam a cross in, I think he’ll cut in and play more along the ground. I think he’ll be a much more creative outlet than Milner has been for most of his career

Wasn’t there an injury update to say that he was expected to miss the first game or something, but that he should be back after that? Or has there been another update?

We’re not buying the best players at their peak but a lot of our signings have the potential to be amongst the best in the world at their positions when they peak. Really exciting knowing a lot of the squad is only going to get better in the next five years

Just getting him off the wage bill would be magic. I’ve got nothing against the lad but he’s not got a future here and realistically he’s not got a future at this level. He could play championship football but no one’s going to pick up his wages. The absolute best we can hope for is that some club picks up half his wages with no loan fee I reckon
