Rooney was a better footballer in terms of technique on the ball, he was amazing up until that metatarsal injury. After that he was still a fantastic player but he was less explosive. Kane is a better goalscorer and better long passer along the ground for sure. If I had to choose who I’d go for based on their entire careers, I’d probably go for Kane even though his career honours are pitiful

Agreed, I think he is an incredibly skilful footballer but there’s a lot of unnecessary stuff to his game. Messi is just ultimate efficiency married with skill. Messi almost never did skill for the sake of skill. Neymar did skill for the sake of skill a lot because he didn’t have the same level of ability as Messi. He’s still one of the best footballers of his generation but I don’t think he’d ever have been Messi level, and probably couldn’t have gotten close to Ronaldo either. Whatever you say about CRonaldo, his mentality is the best going and no one’s going to match it
