I don't think he will go to the extent of gambling on us going down. He needs the worldwide PL audience to advertise his brand, and losing that would hurt him the most. He probably thinks the situation isn't that dire atm, that one or two wins or flukes would pull us out of danger.

Considering the dross this league has, it's not beyond reasonable belief that we would be out of the relegation zone by January. That's probably what Ashley is banking on.

Expecting us to win and Pardew to fire this off instantly. Probably the reason why Ashley will not sack Pardew yet.
