  1. Seems he was dropped. Suspended for the group finale and Die has kept his place in team ahead of him. he wasnt on the bench either though, was he?
  2. Decent summary when you take away all the layers of verbal makeup The first two bullets are by far the most concerning to me. Even if we had our own version of SAF in charge, the MD should always have a list of potential replacements that is constantly updated. Just like we should (or possibly do) have a list of players at each position we'd be interested in. Under Llambias, club said they had a first and second choice replacement for every single squad member, never mind first team player. Do not believe that they had no list of targets
  3. Remember that time when we thought we had a chance with Remi Garde? What a time that was. I'm already looking forward to the next bullshit we let ourselves fall for, player/manager/whatever whilst ignoring the little voice at the back of our minds saying 'don't be stupid, ain't gonna happen'. Sick as fuck
  4. We won the last game, played ok and scored three, so if Carver changes the team around today and loses/draws/team plays badly, he looks stupid. If he leaves it the same, he can spin a good performance as a 'joint effort', or disown a bad performance totally and make changes next time. Basically, if the guy wants the job he'd be daft to make changes today, unless he is completely sure of a good win. His best bet is a couple of quick wins without changing much, then change it slowly after that
  5. We've scouted and bought relatively cheap players from foreign leagues, several of whom have been sold on for profit to top teams, several more have proved to be worth more than we paid and very capable of playing premier league football. This says that we have someone, whether it's Graham Carr or someone else, but we have someone back there who knows what they are doing. Is it too much to ask that this person has a say on who the next manager is, and the make-up of the coaching team? Even Mike Ashley must recognise the disconnect between the type of players he is buying and the way they have been used. Surprise us Mike. Lets have a young upcoming progressive coaching-type manager who is excited by the possibility of exciting the crowd now and again, not a duffer who has already shot his wad in the prem, like a Pulis or a Bruce
  6. if he goes...if he goes. once more cos it's lush, but if he goes, what is the absolute worst replacement? we will get the absolute worst replacement. who will it be?
  7. merry match happy drunk pardew out? hahhhahahaahaafucking bursting dontletmedown
  8. lock the weird cnut up threaten his family, buy aaaaaaal the players
  9. Fair play. I think a league system where fortunes can turn so quickly is probably more healthy and enjoyable for the fans, but that ship has well and truly sailed as far as the prem is concerned
  10. To answer your 3 questions: Yes, No, Yes. Ok, exaggerated a bit, but it was deffo played down as a career move. All about the personal not the football. A massive upturn in fortunes, or were their doldrums not that bad to begin with?
  11. Wasn't the story, when Coloccini was hoping to go back to Argentina and play for San Lorenzo, all about a struggling team with no cash playing at the bottom of the league? Semi-retirement at an almost semi-pro level? Is that the same team who are playing Real Madrid in the Club World Cup final tonight? (genuine question, if it's not, it's not)
  12. Ball through to Colback inside the box was very tidy, shame about the finish but a very switched on passage of play from both players in a tight situation
  13. http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-governance/suspensions Ok, this is a different page from the FA site, which says he has 4 yellows and not 6, so yes he is one booking away. Think I preferred the idea that he was out for saturday but clear of suspensions for a little while
  14. But he's on 6 yellows according to the FA, so a ban for the 7th, aye? I thought they would just give him a two game ban
  15. Had assumed he was still banned for the Chelsea match, as he got both his 5th yellow, which brings a suspension, then a red on Saturday (didn't he?). Is this right? FA website has him down as returning same time as Colback, which would mean he either got away with something (unlikely), or will get the accumulated yellow ban for his NEXT yellow, which also seems unlikely. Have I missed something (much more likely)?
  16. Didnt he miss three sitters in our winless run? Wallop-over-the-bar-from-3yards type sitters?
  17. Happy that the danger of being mired in the bottom three all season has lessened, but cannot shake the idea that we'd still be there if we hadn't had any injuries this season. And that is fucked up. Kinnear was a better manager than this clown, that's how bad he is.
  18. This. Have thought many times in the sky era - how would a manager like Clough announce himself now? Promotion, league title, then back to back european cups? Or getting someone to 5th three years in a row?
  19. It's less about attendance figures than matchday income (and beyond that other commercial income/sponsorship). We are far from 3rd or 4th in matchday income, and that surely means more than bodies through the gates? That isnt intended to excuse any lack of ambition, but just check out how much spurs take into the tills when they play a home match, and explain our advantage in having a much bigger crowd?
  20. That Ronaldo stat is absolute bollocks. It is actually 21. U sure? Either way, fuckin hell
  21. Aye he's not a lone striker He got an award as best attacking mid for last season - is this where he played for tenerife? Is that maybe just behind a lone striker? Anyone?
  22. That's the thing. Raging vs four wins on the bounce. That's why I am thinking whether I'd like us to win or draw versus lose by 5 tomorrow in terms of the bigger picture. Wanting the team I've supported for 40 years, and which is in trouble, to lose heavily. f***ing hell. yeah, some SUPPORTer you are I know it isn't an easy think to come to terms with, I've spent enough time thinking about it myself, but: Lost 5 games in a row, fail to score in any of them Beat Spurs That sequence then sets us up for another 5 game losing streak being acceptable because we got one good result. One match in the wider scheme of things means nothing. i don't want the utter, utter mediocrity our chairman and manager think are OK to go on any more. What kind of supporter is our chairman if he thinks failing to score for nine hours is acceptable? I wouldn't want to have one of my fingers cut off, either, but if I thought it'd stop disease from spreading to the rest of my body, I'd lop the f***er off myself. I absolutely guarantee you, if we keep this manager, we will finish 15th or below AGAIN this season. And he'll still be our manager next season, even if we get relegated. Who the f*** would want that? Saw a stat today that rams home how badly villa are doing. I know he's incredible, but it's now true that Ronaldo has scored 20 times himself since Villa last scored. It took a lot of getting my head around, and I even checked it to be sure. Since your last goal, 13th sep, CR7 has 20 Says lots about him, but lots about you lot, too
  23. Pardews paradox - the manager under the least threat of the sack for poor results is the most cautious/negative manager in the league. If he isnt going to be sacked, what is he afraid of? He should be throwing everything in the squad at the opposition week in, week out, having fun trying to score as many as possible and fuck the consequences. He has in a way got license to do this as that awful run of results hasnt shifted him from his job?! Maybe he has started to realise it? Nah
  24. Loved the pass he hit to find Cabella on the opposite side of the pitch - hammered it to the lads feet to give him time to shoot before the defence could react
  25. So, the ref tells liverpool wall to move back, they refuse and instead of booking someone the refs caves in? Then they creep over his line when he draws it where they told him to? What a load of crap from the players AND the ref
