  1. Can split it e/w or with multiples. But it has to total £25 I think? Like you can't have a £12.50 single on horse A and the same again on horse B.
  2. Ahhhh. Goldream. Done it at the Guineas meet, won. Backed last time out, got stuffed. Left well alone today..... Just won at 20/1 I hate sprints. They all take it in turns beating each other.
  3. Finnegan N/R Blessing in disguise that and all. Had the tenner on Buratino at 8s. Plus a tenner free bet back off betfair with the SP 3/1+ offer. Backed last time out at Epsom as well. Very impressive both times. EDIT: Basically, what you said in the post above mine
  4. From the betting thread: I'm going on Friday/Saturday. So trying not to go too mental until then. Was at Sandown for a mate's birthday on Saturday and won plenty though. So I won't feel quite as guilty if/when I lose shit loads this week Love this meeting though. The form stacks up, you usually get decent ground and you get the best horses from around the world competing for shit loads of money. You usually get some bankers that can be doubled/trebled up and some nice value in bigger fields as well. Made £1100 at this meeting last year and I'm not a big stakes player or anything. If I make £100 this year I'll be happy, just enjoy the high class racing.
  5. £25 on Night of Thunder in the Queen Anne. Money back as a free bet when the nag inevitably loses to Able Friend and/or Solow. But they're both short enough and I'll be staking more than £25 at Ascot this week! So a bet to nothing really. Air Force Blue and Finnegan in the Coventry, got both at 7/1. Round Two far too short to do as a single IMO. I think Sole Power will get his hat trick of King's Stands wins up and have got him in a few multiples and on the nose, but may also do a single on Shamal Wind, though. As she apparently has a similar running style to Sole Power, in going for home late. May just mug him on the line if good enough. Have to respect the Aussie sprinters when they come over here. Gleneagles no sort of price. As much as he should win, I have a feeling Consort may end up being a very good horse and could beat him here. No bet. The last two races are a pin job and I won't be partaking.
  6. Glad you cleared that bit up. I would have been thinking it may have been after Richie or Blair, if not.

  8. For the record, I actually voted 'Yes' on the poll. Oh how wrong I was.
  9. what is colbacks position? Left back aint he?!........ Yeah, you're right. So many centre midfielders struggle to stamp their authority on a game, score a lot, dictate the flow, create a lot, get a lot of assists etc etc. I suppose you have to be very average at everything to play there and just rarely contribute to anything meaningful.
  10. Only Janmaat and Perez were better last season? Not really much of a feat, when on the whole, the entire team were utter wank about 80% of the time and we had two absolute jokers picking the team and so called tactics, every week. Colback is just another British, generic, nothing midfielder. Pretty average at all aspects of the game. Excels at none of them. Never bosses a game and lacks any style or class. He just reminds me of someone like Mark Noble or Jenas. They run around a lot, score the odd goal, make the odd good tackle. That's about it. Urgh. This current team are a bit shite aren't they?!

    Sunderland

So why are they buying her flowers? Did she not want to live/venture into sunderland? So, by getting her these flowers. They are finally admitting to the fact, that sunderland is indeed, a complete and utter shithole and they feel sorry for her, so they're getting her a present? WTF man?! Goosed.

    Steve McClaren

Yeah, kind of my views on it. All very 'meh' but it means I may actually get to set foot inside SJP again. Not that anything will change under Ashley. But I'm hoping the football isn't quite as horrific as it was under Pardew and Carver. Plus, as of yet, I don't massively despise the man, I just feel indifferent about McLaren. I don't genuinely hate him like I did the last two wankers. The bit about Carr is spot on as well. For quite some time, quite a large majority on here would question Pardew's usage of the players given to him by Carr. Hopefully, this won't be the case now.

    Papiss Cissé

I actually don't mind a lot of the changes Americans have made to the English language. But I don't get why they insist on removing 'of' when using the word 'couple' in this context. Sorry. This should be in the pet hates thread. I didn't read the rest of your post. Seems as if you're debating with yourself, mind. Everyone else is on about Cisse getting married. You've weighed in with an argument about how s*** he is

    John Carver

but the guy sacked by his last two clubs, clubs in the league below I might add. Is up to the task? Great stuff. It does seem like the local journos just make shit up or try to piece it all together to make a story. So I really hope that’s the case here. Absolutely ridiculous if true. Oh and Carver staying on as coach? Can't say I'm surprised, but it is still an utterly appalling decision. Stop employing mongs and rewarding mediocrity and failure.
  15. Scratch that. I'm not even remotely excited at all. That seems to be the general consensus across the board Why in the fuck are we keeping this twat on in any capacity, other than cleaner or kit man? Oh yeah, the 8 year deal. How could I forget?
  16. Newcastle will give him the tools for himself and the club to be successful. He will have plenty of good players with millions to spend this summer. We also give him a platform to manage one of the best teams in England. This along with million other reasons will make us an attractive option for him and great tools to deliver and make him one of the best managers in the future. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2012/05/01/article-2137847-12C2BB42000005DC-433_468x309.jpg These three c***s are tools that he will be given. Like trying to play Snooker with a piece of rope. bahaha. I just can't get too excited about any of this yet. You know Carver will still be involved in some capacity, as will the other two minions. I would guess the majority of decent managers interested would want their own backroom staff and not be keen to work with the three stooges. My first opinion on Vieira was a bit 'Alan Partridge shrug'. But the more I think about it, the more it interests me. I'm not even sure the link is genuine yet. Probably just more spin from the club. But it could potentially end up being a very good appointment. He's worked under some great managers, played at the top level his whole career for big clubs, always been a leader and he's been involved in some capacity in coaching and developing players the last few years. I would imagine he'd have a lot of contacts in the game and would be a big draw for a lot of players. TBH, even if he ended up being a bit average. It would probably definitely be more exciting than McLaren, Carver or any other random, tried and failed British coach. I'd rather we were after a coach from the continent that has more experience and is proven. But I think I'd be happy with Vieira if he got appointed. I can't see him accepting the terms set out by Ashley though. Or wanting to work with the complete mongs in that picture.
  17. Messi's vision and passing is so good, that I think (hope) he'll still be world class once his pace has gone. Can easily see him dropping a bit deeper, dribbling a bit less, but just carving defences apart with through balls and diagonals. Whilst still weighing in with goals running from deep and curling in ridiculous long rangers. It's the argument I use when dealing with CR7 fanboys. That whilst Ronaldo is a flat track bully and the complete athlete. He will never be a footballing genius in the way Messi is. Once his pace has gone, I think he'll end up playing for PSG or in Turkey or somewhere for about 500 grand a week and just won't be the same. Obviously he may prove me wrong and to a degree my argument is based on what may happen over next 3, 4, 5+ years. But I think ultimately, Messi will go down in the history books as the better player due to the traits mentioned. I can really appreciate both and we're spoilt by having these two in their prime, really. But whilst they are different types of attacking players. Overall, Messi is out in front on his own IMO.
  18. They ran towards a neutral area of the ground, which was mostly filled with Juve fans, those "neutral" fans were completely innocent victims no doubt about that and the guilt lies firmly with the Liverpool fans who did as you say run towards them. The wall itself was not fit forpurpose, but that wouldn't have been an issue had the Liverpool fans not behaved in the way they did. There were however a hell of a lot Juve hooligans as well, they were located at the other end of the stadium though well away from the Liverpool fans, those pictures of them masked and running onto the field were clearly shown on the TV, it was just a long way for them to get to the Liverpool fans. I remember watching it vividly. The Juve fans rioting at the other end of the pitch was after the wall had collapsed, it was in response to what had happened at the Liverpool/Neutral end, they had nothing to do with the disaster itself which was caused by a couple of hundred Liverpool fans in a crowd of almost 60K. The banners they had with them, the masks they used to conceal their faces, clearly showed they had premeditated something, if the roles had been reversed and these Juve fans had been located in the area the Liverpool hooligans had been with that ridiculous wall separating them from multitudes of Liverpool fans. I would not have been surprised if the situation would have happen again only in reverse. There was clearly ill feeling between the two sets of fans for some years, Liverpool were the kings of Europe while Juve were busy buying the best players on the continent to dethrone them. The rivalry had spilled over to violence and tension building throughout the day. Both teams had the hooligan element though, whether Juve fans were reacting to what happened or not, Juve fans just didn't turn into hooligans because of the tragedy, it was very much there and they were both looking for a fight. Anyone who went to see ourselves play in inter in the San Siro in the Champs League will testify that Italian football fans are no angels and apparently Liverpool fans had been subjected to some pretty awful treatment in the previous years final which had been ridiculously held in Rome against Roma. Again not exonerating Liverpool here, but trying to strike some balance. Good post. But the bit in bold is exactly what I was referring to when scousers make excuses about Heysel. What's that got to do with the price of fish? Hooliganism was common place in those times, hooligans from a different team, in a different city gave you a bit of a hiding. So you use that as some kind of excuse to kick off? Not buying it.
  19. No doubt? Is there any evidence backing that up? As I read that there was allegedly a National Front involvement, hooligans from Chelsea or some London club. That was shot down in the article I read?
  20. Assuming KI was referring to Hillsborough? In which case he is spot on. Pretty misinformed if he is on about Heysel, no?
  21. Read a pretty harrowing article on this in GQ the other week (I was in the barbers, like I'm sophisticated enough to buy anything other than Nuts and Zoo). As if the game went ahead?! Seemed like plenty of people were at fault, with lots of different factors involved. But I think the silence from the city, LFC and their fans over the years is deafening. I’ve even tried to debate it with a couple of ‘actual’ scousers down here and they just brush it off. “Yeah well, it was revenge for what some Italian fans did to us over there and they started the fighting anyway….” Yeah, that excuses it then does it? Fans from a different club beat some of yours up, so you attacked men, women and children in the neutral section. I know it was a different time and hooliganism was rife. But it’s still abhorrent and disgusting behaviour from their so called ‘fans’. http://www.gq-magazine.co.uk/comment/articles/2015-05/29/heysel-stadium-disaster-30-anniversary
  22. The interview was horrendous. So badly staged and scripted. Probably had a fucking autocue for all his bullshit and lies. I fucking hate this club at the minute. Didn’t even manage a full day of being happy/relieved that we stayed up. As I ended up watching this the morning after and it just reminded me how doomed we are. Another 5 years or more of, at best, mediocrity, shit managers and relegation scraps. Oh joy.
  23. Good darts that. I'm not bad with betting on the nags (flat only) but I am the worst football punter ever So don't worry lads, we're staying up!
  24. I'm having a bit on the West Ham win/draw and Hull win double. Pays around 5.5/1 I think. I won't mind losing money if we stay up. But I may as well profit if/when we get relegated.
  25. I am somehow quietly confident. We can't rely on sunderland getting hammered twice and if Hull win and we only draw, we're down. So basically, only a win will do. May as well go for it, surely? Of course, whether Carver has the balls or ability to manage a win, remains to be seen. West Ham's season has been over for quite some time it would seem. Whilst Allardyce will be fired up to beat us and potentially send us down. I don't think his players will be quite so arsed, however. I also don't think Hull beat Man U. I can see a draw and that's it. Don't ask me why I am confident of getting a win. 1 point in 30 is hardly promising But I don't think it will matter anyway, as I can't see Hull winning. Pathetic situation to be in though. It really is horrendous. Compared to the last time we went down, I don't even feel bothered or nervous?! Perhaps I'm confusing my emotions, which is why I somehow seem chilled out about it all and think we'll stay up. Just a complete feeling of apathy about the whole club the last year or so. I just don't think I care either way anymore
