  1. Aye. I wasn't on about the 6 yard box. Pickford just doesn't command his box better than Pope. I think Pope is usually off his line quickly, when that is the right thing to do. Even likes leaving his box quite regularly, which usually works, but always gets me a bit worried Not even a contest if you're talking about coming off his line for deep crosses or set pieces. Pope is far superior to Pickford at that.
  2. I think they are fair enough comments regarding Pope. Still don’t see how Pickford commands his box better, mind? Constantly flapping about, looks ropey with crosses and set pieces and just shouts at his defence and kicks off every 5 mins for no reason. All that said. I do get why Pickford starts ahead of Pope for England. Doesn’t look as ropey as he does for Everton and has never really been punished for errors he’s made. Pope had his chance to make an impression and blew it against Germany.
  3. Decent performance last night. First half was boring, but much better than Friday and we were in complete control. Just the final ball was lacking. It feels like we are still a very cautious side. But if we get a goal and teams have to throw caution to the wind against us. Then we have a chance of scoring through a number of players in the squad. Actually carry a lot of FRET when the game opens up.
  4. Pickford commands his box better than Pope? What am I reading….. Pope’s kicking is a bit rubbish by modern day keeper standards. But he is class coming off his line, claiming high balls and when playing as a sweeper keeper. I don’t get the Shay Given comparison at all?
  5. I’d genuinely loved to be proved wrong. On the Bellingham thing, I mean. Ana De Armas is just a wet dream, I mean pipe dream. But the most sought after young midfielder in Europe. Who probably goes for £120m plus and could easily command £250k a week plus. I just cannot see it at this stage. We have a bit further to go yet.
  6. Not with that attitude I’d love to shag Ana De Armas. I’m not sure she’d be so keen, mind.
  7. Settle down. We aint getting Bellingham
  8. Rashford has been poor. Whilst simultaneously looking like our best chance of a goal. Weird old half. Look better than the last game. But still ponderous and not really creating much.
  9. Opposite for me. I can make the Sunday game in the pub with friends. I'm away Friday and Saturday with the missus and the dog. Not sure she'll be keen on watching me get hammered whilst complaining about how shit England are to watch, all whilst the dog is trying to destroy the place due to his impatience
  10. Draw could easily see us winning the group. But I really hope you are wrong. Imagine if Iran win tonight and finish above us
  11. Can’t always compare like for like. As Brazil would have been pushing harder late in the game and I guess they would have played different roles (not seen the game). Still…. Makes you wonder what the fuck Fred was doing for an hour.
  12. What a farce VAR and the handball law is. Even Walton isn’t agreeing. Must be the first time in history.
  13. Is this going to be like when Kane swore on his daughter’s life, that he touched the ball. When he clearly didn’t. Only saw a quick replay. But didn’t look like he got anything on it.
  14. It does still seem to me. Like the difference in ability with outfield players in the women’s game, compared to the men’s game. Is nowhere near as noticeable as the keepers. Every time I see a long range goal. It often tends to be a howler from the keeper. Is it a lack of specialised coaching and resources? Or is it more to do with physical limitations and the height of the keepers?
  15. I thought VAR for the Saudi penalty was a bit of a farce. Massive dive and minimal contact. The fact the ref didn’t give it and they overturned it made it even more ridiculous. Justice that they missed.
  16. Fuck we are boring to watch. Just another reason to go up the pub with your mates, really. I prefer to watch NUFC at home if it’s on the TV. As you see and hear more. But I think I’d change the channel if I was sat at home watching England. Whenever there is a tight game. Southgate just seems happy with his lot. Never makes inspiring subs or seems to make any meaningful decisions that change it mid-game. 5 subs, wait all that time and the first thing we do is bring Henderson on FFS not that he played badly, TBF. But Mount, Saka and Sterling were stinking the pitch out and we have some great options in the forward positions. Foden and Wilson not even getting 10-15 mins is daft. I’m still not sure what our plan is when we are trying to build an attack when in possession? The odd diagonal to the full backs or Kane drop deep and then nobody goes beyond the ball? Depressing as fuck to watch such negative shite. Yanks were the better team.
  17. They get to showcase it in a major tournament every two years. I’m not counting that recent Nations League bollocks!
  18. I’d argue with the players they have had at their disposal over the last however many years. You would be expecting them to always be mixing it at the business end. Probably being overly harsh. I’m just always disappointed when I watch them.
  19. Belgium have really wasted their golden generation with Martinez. They have been second best here from what I’ve seen and they always seem to look decent on paper. Yet look bang average on the pitch.
  20. Is Robot Wars man talking shite there? Saying lots of games Neymar and Messi don’t work hard. But Mbappe always does and is always running and working? I’m sure there are stats to prove it either way. But he is lazy as fuck whenever I see him in the CL.
  21. He went on a podcast during lockdown. Pushing some business venture of his. But he spoke quite highly of the fans and the club, even then. Always got stuck into Ashley more than anything. Which I have a lot of time for. He has defo always seen himself as an ex-Liverpool player first and foremost. So I don’t really see much difference in what he is doing now. Probably still bitter about going in goal against us
  22. Yeah. That’s the winner, for me.
  23. Schar has always been class. It was a travesty that he wasn’t playing under the Cabbage. But I did used to think he was more rash and prone to errors before Howe came in. Just having some structure and coaching has made him even better. Probably helps that he now has players on the same wavelength as him and all. Schar has been our player of the season, IMO. £3.5m
