  1. For the first 20 minutes, it looked like a flat 4-4-2 with HBA up top with Cisse. Then he seemed to get pissed off and started drifting and picking the ball up far too deep at times. Second half I have no idea what was going on, but you could have driven a double decker through our midfield. Positions seemed to go out of the window! I'm all for movement and a bit of fluidity, but fuck me that was clueless. Outplayed at home against Mari FUCKING timo.

These 'winnable' games we have running up to the horrible festive period are going well Colo missing , Cabaye out til the new year, HBA missing 2-3 games minimum. We've just lost our only creative force in the team. Nice.
  3. Don't understand the pressing from our team, or lack of it. Quite often, Bigi is the furthest up the pitch. Trying to hound defenders on his own and just leaves a shit load of space in behind. Starting with a genuine 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 didn't help him or Anita. They were both shit last night IMO, but were pretty hamstrung by our baffling tactics YET AGAIN!

Probably has Carver taking notes from fans in the pubs as well.

Bigi talking about our style of play. Someone else linked to NUFC that is hinting at us favouring long balls. Not sure we get forward quicker mind. The ball might, the players certainly don't.

Spot on. I said this early on in the season. I was hoping our Europa tactics were a sign of things to come. Never materialised though. I know we're playing inferior opposition and the style is different. But fuck me, it's a worry when most of our better football is coming from so called fringe players.

Moving on from all the gripes about his interviews and playing style. He really needs to get rid of this 'never came from a goal down to win in the league' stat. Apart from maybe the relegation season, I can't remember a time, where every time you go a goal down, you're thinking 'we now can't win the game, best we can hope for is a draw'. It's fucking depressing TBH.

I don't want him out, nor do I expect him to be sacked. He's here for the long haul IMO whether people like it or not. I actually yearn a bit of stability and I like Pardew. However. When we seem to be going backwards, we have a horrendous playing style that's getting worse and a manager that appears to have gone into his footballing shell due to a few injuries and poor results. He's ultra negative and defensive in his interviews and with his tactics. I understand the concerns from fans. As I am pretty fucking worried myself I must say.

Just waiting for the excuses now Cabaye is out. Tried to use Cisse as an excuse against Swansea, no doubt he'll do the same with Cabaye. He'll keep trying with two from Jonas/Bigi/Tiote/Anita in centre mid and we'll get raped. He's being pushed to change the formation and system, yet he still won't alter a damn thing.
  10. He can't kick a football properly. Which is a concern I must say.

Yeah, he used to be on here. Then he lost his mind and went on a rampage. Now he seems like the most bitter and twisted football fan in the world. Something tipped him over the edge. I think it was the 5-1!
  12. I'm not so sure. He always looked poor up top on his own. I know Nolan pretty much plays up with him a lot of the time, but he's not a striker. I remember Carroll getting bossed against Spurs and Blackpool playing as a lone striker. He doesn't really seem to have much control on his headers, teams often manage to pick up the second ball and I'm not sure he has the brain for it. I've also seen Michael Dawson marshall him easily on two seperate occassions. Hardly a world class centre back! That trio of Carroll, Nolan and Barton really was such a fundemental part of our success. It possibly exagerated their abilities as well, as they were so successful as a unit. Take one of the cogs out and we ground to a halt. We often looked s**** when one or two of the three didn't play, as they were nowhere near as effective on their own. Nolan has found a bit of form this season in fairness. But it's no surprise all of them struggled once they were split up. Teams must be wising up to him and West Ham haven't mastered the long diagonal, with Nolan running off Carroll. They seem to favour the aimless punt upfield approach

Yeah, I suppose on his competitive debut, after all that time out and playing in a terrible side (we were honking that game). He really should have been top drawer. 120 minutes as well. He was tidy enough I thought and the signs were promising. If there has been some exagerations in my post. Then the last 3 pages are littered with them as well. Woeful and terrible FFS IN comparison to whom? All of our world class superstars like Sammy, Ferguson and Obertan? NO. The forum that only deals in extremes. There is no inbetween

People keep saying woeful, honestly, how many 'chances' has he had? Played well against Forest away in the league cup. MOTM I think. Was our best player when he got a half vs Everton away last season. Looked good vs Everton at home before he got crocked. Then missed November - May through injury.... Played well against Brugge away. Average/decent against Scunny in the league cup. Then some instantly forgettable cameos, the horrendous performance vs Everton this season (where he was seemingly asked to play the Jonas, defensive winger role I might add) and a few poor/average performances in Europe and suddenly he's woeful? I've seen more promise from him in the rare pitch time he's had, than I've seen from Obertan week after week. Yet Obertan still gets chances to keep playing shit and fucking up? I wonder if roles were reversed, would we be saying the same? Bit of a hypothetical I know, but I don't get how people have got a set in stone opinion on Marv. When really, we've barely seen him and he's recovering from serious injuries and trying to adapt to a new team and league. Not sure any of this matters mind. Seems like Pards doesn't rate him and I'm not sure he'll be here much longer. Never been given a fair crack of the whip IMO.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.
  16. I've seen him have 2-3 good games since he's left us. People forget when he was with us, he was either unplayable or utter dross. WBA away, Spurs away and West Ham away (before he scored) stand out off the top of my head. Him coming back would just further encourage even more hoof ball, but at least it would be effective I suppose. I've seen him three times now for West Ham and he's been wank. Not even taking his price tag in to consideration here, he just generally looks wank. If it was Carlton Cole or Heskey putting in similar performances. Fans would rightly be slating them. He huffs and puffs, wins a lot of headers but can't direct them and whinges at the ref a lot. Average striker, wouldn't want him back.

    Papiss Cissé

11-15. But I was expecting him to be away for the ACN. The way we've been playing and how poor he's been. He'll do well to get to double figures in the league.

I agree with that, have said the same and so have plenty of others. The problem is, we actually have a squad of players that should be aiming higher than midtable. In the past we've had a load of dross, or overpaid, past it mercenaries. Despite the lack of investment, we have a far better group of players now. The best team since the SBR days for sure and I would argue there are stronger players in certain positions. We do still have some passengers getting games, that are barely good enough for lower league sides (Willo, Simpson, Shola, Harper etc). But the rest of the squad are good enough to finish top 6-8. Not languishing in about 12th place like a Souness/Roeder team. I think that's the issue. Pards has us playing such anti-football and we can all see he wastes such talented players with his 'front foot, exciting brand of football'.......
  19. I'm not confident we'll replace him if he goes. We seem to have a one out, one in policy, or just a random policy which sees us target bargains, as oppose to positions we actually need. I can see us getting rid and trying for someone like Debuchy for weeks. Then complaining at the last minute, saying how we couldn't "get him over the line" or "that the goalposts moved and we couldn't do the deal." Leaving us with no right back. I don't rate Simpson, but sadly, he is our best choice at the minute.
  20. Might just be the photo but he looks like he has bulked up a bit there. Aye, his waistline certainly has. Spending his '30 bags a week' wisely then!
  21. Him playing on the left wing, is part of the reason why teams can afford to double and even treble mark HBA. He offers absolutely fuck all going forward.

We'll find out soon enough how good he is I reckon. Completely wasted at present. I think a mixture of a good offer and him being fed up of chasing shadows, will see him leave within a year or so. Where is the weekly video of him anyway? That usually gets posted up about now!

I just find the constant excuses boring. I know that's what managers do, to deflect blame from their players and to keep the heat off them. But when some of them are downright lies and clearly bollocks, it gets a bit tiresome. I've not heard him call it how it is once this season. Always injuries, players missing, lack of experience and general hard luck stories. I'm sure he was praised last season for often recognising where we went wrong in post match interviews. Changing it and addressing said issues are a different matter though, as he clearly struggles with this. I'd have a lot more respect for him if he stopped talking shit. He sounds like that snake oil salesman out of Red Dead Redemption at the minute!

I said before the Swansea game. I would lose faith in him if he plays the same old, shit 4-4-2 and doesn't try to retain possession with a 4-2-3-1. I thought he might actually go for it, seeins as he's almost being pushed into playing that way, with the players we currently have available. Now I've only seen highlights, but going on what everyone has said on here, what I've seen, the subs made and what I've read, I would say he's done the same as usual. We've lost two easy home games on the bounce, due to his tactics and incompetence IMO. Yes the players should shoulder some of the blame, but a lot of it is clearly down to the manager's instructions. I don't have faith that he'll ever try to play 'the right way' or that he'll ever get backed properly in the transfer market. He knows this is the best job he'll ever have, so he won't kick up a fuss. So it's safety first, don't get beat, hoof ball for the forseeable future. I'm not expecting us to play like Arsenal or Barca. To a point, I don't even mind a direct approach if it's effective and we get results. But we're criminally wasting certain players with this shit style and we don't have the personnel to play like Stoke or West Ham. Suppose we better get used to it. 8 years..... I voted yes.
  25. Funny that isn't it!? Most decent teams play 3 in the middle. Most teams that struggle will pack the midfield as a safety first approach. We, play a horribly rigid, 4-4-2. No wonder we f***ing struggle Pards No Pards, one of the strikers doesn't f***ing have to - Ferguson, Sammy, Marveux etc are all better options than Cisse or Shola on the f***ing wing. Man up for f*** sake The full set of quotes is a bit depressing TBH: So yeah, blame it on the injuries and loss of form of certain players. Don't expect any drastic changes soon....
