I’m glad it was for that word and not because my attempt at football speak sounded like Pardew. Fret. Let our hair down. Notting Hill Carnival. Science was against us today.

Kevin Campbell, Carragher and the smug mackem presenter bloke fuming at Souness’ suggestion that Newcastle are as big as Everton.

This is kind of what I’m hoping for. Would be happy with that. I mentioned it in the Liverpool match thread. But it feels like for what are probably numerous reasons. We often really struggle to get a foothold in the game second half and surrender a lot of possession and territory. Some of that will be by design, I’m sure. As we are really sound defensively under Howe. I suppose other teams also make changes and tweaks that are hard to counter. Finally, we do still have a lot of players that aren’t really good enough. Who have also been playing the last 4-5 seasons or so without the ball. I guess I would like to see more control and decent possession in the right areas. We are getting better at building attacks and trying to work openings. But still not there yet. With a proper pre-season and 4 quality new starters. I think Howe will get us to massively improve on this front.

Depending how we set up. I think they could be our kryptonite, personally. Can catch us in transition and expose space in behind a slow’ish defence on the counter. Spurs absolutely raped us doing that. The 4-5 games before Norwich. We often played well first half. Then went off the boil and struggled to keep possession and create too much in the second. If that happens again, I think they’ll have too much for us.

Judging by that shite music he listens to. I’d defo say he’s partial to a bit of speed on a night out.

I still nearly bit my face off from cringing so hard

What in the world?! It is getting harder and harder to know what’s parody, what is from people that are touched in the head and what is genuine on the internet these days.
-
If £15m is the price. We 100% should sign him. Not a big price in today’s market, not a lot of risk involved and bar the second half against Spurs. Where everyone was shit. He has been really dependable. He’s at least a 7 every week.

Not sure who is worse with their cheating and shithouse behaviour. Richarlison or Gordon?
-
That finish was hard, mind. One of the hardest skills in the game trying a volley when it comes over your shoulder like that. Love his energy and pace. Just the same as most of our attacking players. His decision making in the final third is usually poor.
-
I actually described him yesterday as playing football like he is playing snooker. He kind of pushes through on the ball like he is cueing. Plus the fact he has the angles and the weight spot on most the time. His safety game would be impeccable.

My prediction of taking Joelinton out the team. Due to him looking a bit fucked and not influencing games. Has aged like a can of Carlsberg in the Sahara. Sorry Big Joe.
-
Joelinton looks knackered and isn’t influencing games like he was when he first went into midfield. He seems to be playing through a few injuries and all. I thought he was anonymous second half against Palace. I’d say he is an obvious one. Not really followed anything in the build up to this. But sounds like he’ll be making a few changes. Not sure who is good enough to start ahead of any of the current XI. Bar maybe Willock? So I’m hoping he doesn’t make too many changes.

Yep. I loved watching him. I’m sure him and Bellamy struck up a good partnership when Shearer was out. Shearer getting back to fitness and understandably coming back in was actually to our detriment. I might not be remembering that correctly, mind. Going back a few years!
-
I thought Schar or Targett were MOTM right at the final whistle. Looking back, it could have been Krafth or Burn, as well. Not seen a functioning back 4 like this since. Well I don’t actually know?! We were solid at time under Pardew. But there seemed to be more limitations with Simpson and Williamson playing a lot. Rafa usually had a back 3 or 5 when we were the most defensively sound.
-
Agreed. He gave us a few cheap ones with players just hitting the deck. But for the most part, it was great to see a game that wasn’t stop/start or all about the ref, for once. I also thought Guehi looked brilliant for them. It seemed a bit mad the money they spent on him at the time. But he has always impressed in the few Palace games I have seen since. Barely put a foot wrong the other night. He seems top on most defensive metrics on that Other 14 update every week. If he continues on this trajectory. He is going to be some player for a top club in the future and England. Doesn’t play like a 21 year old!
-
Was annoying when he didn’t take that shot on with his right early on. I think he just about made up for it with that goal
-
Playing pretty well. Look sharp and been able to get on the ball a lot more than usual. Just a shame that we still lack that bit of cutting edge in and around the box. Wood looked onside, I reckon. Awful finish after failing to control it, as per usual. Almiron just turning into prime Messi. Scenes. Hopefully our levels don’t drop second half. As they certainly have the last couple of games. I always wonder how much of that is down to the opposition tweaking things, though.

The worst bit, is that it’s made HTT come in here and share his coke advice

Sideshow Hannibal Lecter is a mad fucker. Absolute hooligan. Great to watch
-
You can hear the pain and anguish in Neville’s voice. This must be absolutely killing him inside, sitting there watching this. I reckon he might explode second half. I’m all for it.
-
To think plenty of fans were saying Thiago was shite or overrated. As he took a bit of time to settle in and get a regular run in the side. Absolute joy to watch. Probably my favourite player in the league.
-
Love how he plays off either foot. Lashed that in earlier on his left and from that highlight reel. He is playing through balls, long passes and taking on shots with right and left. Too many players seem massively one footed, or just reluctant to try and use their weaker foot. It’s great to see.

Chelsea or Real Madrid. That’s like asking if you’d rather have a cat shit roll or a dog shit sandwich. Both awful, awful cunts.

Always said I was happy for goal line technology and perhaps off the ball violent conduct. As opposed to waiting until after the game to dish out a ban. Otherwise, I didn’t want it. Watching the Liverpool game yesterday with a load of their fans. Big Mick Quinn was in the pub, actually both their goals were half celebrated as they thought there may have been an offside. Then Sterling’s ruled out for being a few mm off. It’s madness.
