Well, tbf, we've had Schar and Dubs in that range. Pretty sure HBA was only £5m and Cabaye wasn't far off. Lascelles was in that region too.

So basically the Partridge gif of transfers.
  6. The ridiculous attempts to demonise decent people like Shola, Lascelles and now Ritchie for making what most normal people would deem to be innocuous statements does nothing to help the anti Ashley cause. Innocuous? “I don’t understand the unrest... The owner has been honest.” “You have to be real. To compete at the top is mega money.” If he genuinely doesn't understand the unrest then he's too thick to be trusted to put his own socks on. The owner has been honest. The club admitted to the tribunal that it repeatedly and intentionally misled the press, public and the fans of Newcastle United. Competing with Brighton or Watford is mega-money? A supposed football club striving to be the best football club it can be is mega money? Just spending what we made is mega money? Investing in the facilities and not selling off our future is mega money? Fuck him, it's a cunts comment.
  7. He played weakened teams in the cups, must have been too stupid to realise we'd get knocked out by your logic. All Bruce has said is that it's better to go full strength and give it a go in the cups, a sentiment echoed on this board every cup tie we play. The cause isn't helped by faux outrage at every utterance the man makes, he's already given us plenty of ammunition. Denouncing every word he says in some bizarre online competition over who can get the most angry takes away from the real issue.
  8. He wasn't managing hull at the time.
  9. I've said plenty, I'm just not working myself up into a faux rage over a perfectly reasonable comment that we pretty much all agree with anyway.

    Unleash the cheesy puns.
  11. Should he not be aware that Hull's reserves are not as good as Arsenal's? You're right, he's Satan and I hate him and wish he'd die for saying that he made a mistake playing a weakened team and learned from the experience. Ah hayte him sooo merch.
  12. Freedom of information request to the police was mentioned earlier.
  13. He's talking about a lesson he learned from doing it.
  14. what in fuck is this shit? Bring it on. "Yeah, I let the team vote on the starting XI and we got our backsides kicked. I won't be doing that again." The actual full story isn't that bad and is probably a sentiment we can agree with.
  15. Has anyone ever actually said we should be competing with City? It comes out in so much of this bullshit that there must be some quote somewhere where we've collectedly decided that we should be winning the league. Ritchie can fuck off.

Nice dig at Custis (I assume)
  17. Interesting approach from Bristol City, can see them pissing off a few people with this. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/49251887
  18. You’re a journo? He's a scando so I assume he's a bit ITK with this one
  19. Aye, the announced attendances are just bollocks, essentially marketing. Look at the mackems, they'd announce 35k, cut to the stadium and there's three blokes and a dog there.
  20. TIL mojo and I have very similar names
  21. First the move from knockout to league formats, then the non-champion entrants... For me, it all comes back to Galatasaray beating Man Yoo in the mid 90s - then establishing the Fergie era - for big clubs to say "that shit ain't right" and the whole competition changed. Fourth placed clubs from "big" nations were suddenly drawn against champions of minnow nations who would never again get past the qualifying round. The CL completely screws 'minnow nations'. One team makes it anywhere near the group stage and overnight they have a bigger budget than the entire league put together.
  22. I hate that 'quarterback' role. It's just hipster hoofball, play a proper midfield.
  23. Don't really need to say much more than that. The new signings might all be good prospects as individuals, moulding them into a team when you have no idea how to build a team in the first place is going to be the issue. So again, this is the point I made myself no? We have Rafa's team with 2 different attackers and a potentially better left back. That's the simple truth of it. Teams in and around us haven't been out there blowing us out of the water in the market, we have just signed Steve f***ing Bruce so they've got an advantage more than likely. Dean there calling 75% of the squad outright s**** or whatever it was, it's just not correct. i didn't say 75% of the squad i said 75% of the list you stated. In all fairness give or take a few players...Dubravka,Schar,Lejeune,Longstaff,Almiron the rest is average to s**** for me (apart from the new signings of course as they are unknown at the moment). We have so many players that people rave about that are just simply not good enough which is an indictment of how low expectations and standards have fallen at NUFC since ashley took over. Im talking about people like Shelvey,Dummet,Ritchie,Gayle,Muto,Manquillo,Yedlin,Ki, pre Ashley we would all have deemed these complete crap hell even Lascelles is vastly over rated to me he's certainly not as good a centre half as Schar or Lejeune and possibly even Fernndez but he gets plaudits beyond his ability The vast Majority of this squad is way way below the quality level that we went down with in 2008/09 Yeah I didn't post the list. But answer the question I've asked, of the clubs we're realistically competing with are our first 11-15 and backup significantly worse? I don't see how you can say they are. Again I'm talking about players not coaches and have made my feelings about Bruce et al clear. who do you consider us competing with? Id say Bournemouth,Watford and Palace have a better squad Brighton Burnley on par and Norwich and Sheff United inferior You go on like this at the start of every season. Our first choice 11 should have more than enough quality to stay up. Our defence is decent, midfield could use a bit more depth but aren't awful and our attack is as yet an unknown quantity but we know Almirón at least has some quality. A halfway competent manager should be able to keep them up.
  24. Ludwig Francillette We're just straight up signing Simpsons characters now
