Maybe, but it would raise the overall standards in those competitions. The 6th place team in the PL would be stronger than most other teams that qualify for the CL. The 7th and 8th place PL teams would be stronger than most qualifiers for the Europa League.

"Likely"? Literally couldn't be worse. All 3 penalties off-target and their goalie didn't save any.

Chelsea 0-1 Newcastle United (14/03/26) | post-match huddle pg. 30

Obviously premeditated attempt to intimidate the ref. The ref is where he's supposed to be, in the centre circle having just done the coin toss. Chelsea captain Reece James discreetly signals to the team to surround the ref right after the linesmen have stepped aside. Palmer actually puts both arms around the ref from behind So the ref either has to fight his way out or just stand there looking like an accomplice to Chelsea's last minute motivation speech. The Premier League needs to take action or at least put out a statement that it's not acceptable. -

Respect the ball? What sort of nonsense is that? Reminds me of: -
Eczema, according to Fabrizio Romano.

I'd be interested to know where these statistics came from. Pretty sure "assists" weren't a thing in football back in the era of Lee Clark and Rob Lee. As for #17, Jock Rutherford, he played his last game for us in 1913. Television didn't start in the UK until 20 years later. How does anyone know that he had one more assist than Joelinton but one less than Shelvey? Edit: Wonder how many assists Giggs had. Apologies.

You'd expect Barca to have learned, from watching Saturday's City game, that for a possession-based team the Ali-esque rope-a-dope tactic works a treat against us. Expect a pressing onslaught for the first 25 minutes or so. Concentrate on defending it. Don't even worry if you go a goal behind. Be confident that we'll tire. Then keep possession, pass the ball around, get us chasing shadows and chances are bound to come. Hope that's not how it pans out, but that's what I'd be expecting Herr Flick to be telling his players.

I know someone in sports media, says Ryder and Louise Taylor are both really nice people. Just that he's a bit thick and she's a bit weird.

It'll seem even impossibler on Tuesday. -
Not dead. This is a decent watch.

July, according to Wikipedia. Although that doesn't really detract from your point. "On 11 July 2025, Elanga joined Newcastle United for a reported £55 million transfer fee. . . . On 16 August, he made his debut for the club in a 0–0 draw against Aston Villa in the league."

OK. Not really down with the whole "We'll support you evermore" thing, then.

Should have got rid of the chewing gum, though.

Nasty as demons? Here's what an opposing manager wrote about them last season. "Anstey’s facilities are as bad as anything we’ve encountered in years, changing rooms, showers, dugouts were filthy, warm up area dangerous and totally unfit for purpose and the pitch was worst we’ve had all season, albeit that doesn’t make one iota difference to the result but standards need to be better surely." www.darlastontown1874fc.com/news/deans-midweek-review--heart-felt-thanks-and-love-to-our-supporters-who-travelled-last-night-2910234.html
