Palace are a team of really hard, organised grafters aren’t they. It’s good to watch rather than the usual hoof ball stuff a lot of teams of similar quality seem to go for. Us included.

These pre-match threads have been weird. Everyone absolutely certain we’d get something v Brighton despite them playing the sort of game that always takes the piss out of us. We’re not going to be pressing Spurs like Southampton did so I can’t see us being destroyed on the counter as we don’t really commit loads to an attack. I wouldn’t be surprised if we scratted a draw or a daft win down there. Especially given they’re away in Europe this week.

Much stronger than I was expecting

I get that it isn’t the best start but what an awful defeatist perspective to have with 85 minutes of the game left to play.

I was surprised so many were confident pre-game and Brighton did exactly what they’ve done to us for the past few games but they actually bothered scoring this time. Hopefully this is the end of two up top when one of those forward is Carroll. It’s really impressive what Brighton have done since Hughton. It must be nice believing in a system and sticking with it. Basically what we had and lost under Rafa despite how pundits described it.

I’m going to be massively optimistic here and say we’ll sort our shit out at half time, get a relatively early goal and salvage a point from this. I’m serious.

Would bring Joelinton on for Carroll and drop him deeper with Wilson up top by himself. We might actually be able to press them properly then and if not at least Joelinton will get the blame instead of ASM on the forum.

Was very highly rated at Chelsea - had James and Azpilicueta ahead of him so saw the chance to go elsewhere to get game time - fair play Same. First I’d seen anything of substance from him. I certainly know who the bastard is now mind ?

Also picked up a knock mid-week. Shit game from him but some absolutely lifting comments about him on here.

Hope I’m wrong but playing Carroll v this Brighton team feels like a bit of a mistake. Unless Brucieball is the trick to beating this possession bases team.
