Chelsea make a lot of money from player sales, and if they are in trouble they can always sell one of their many players who they hide in cupboards who happen to be worth £20m who never see the light of day.
-
Apparently they've offered £180k wages to him. Lingard did prove he had skill in 6 months at West Ham but 180k is still a lot for a player who failed to do anything in a sub par Man U team

I like that Everton shirt, albeit probably would prefer it without these weird blue diamond bits

I would prefer Schar and Botman but Howe isn't going to sideline any player for ages because he likes to pass the ball occaisionally, players will get places on merit and will be plenty of opportunities for rotation. Players want to play every game, we shouldn't sign anyone who doesn't but all this talk of character being wanted also means them being an adult and realising the club needs 3 very good centre backs and they will get a chance. One thing Howe has been very good at is making the whole squad feel wanted and important even if not playing every match.

We keep Bruno by achieving Champions League. We do that by using Bruno and Botman to show we are a good destination for players and compete for European places. I am doubtful we will actually make Champions League before Bruno decides he needs to be playing it but maybe we can get get £100m off real madrid for him then and sign 2 more Brunos. That is the business model we are going by as I understand it, we do not want to spend silly wages to get the Neymars of the world as it likely wouldn't work, would be a struggle with FFP and destabalise the squad. We have no real depth of quality in squad, to get that it takes time. Bruno gets injured? We are in trouble. We want to compete with Spurs for 4th we will need more than we will likely have for next few seasons unless the FFP limitations go and the owners just decide to splurge. Nothing they have said or done indicates that is on the table though. People need to stop panicing though. Personally I am looking forward for a season without the stress of relegation hanging over us and having a good go at the cups. I want us to compete for europe but I fear there are going to be some toys thrown out pram by some when we finish 8th or 9th. THe form of the last end of season was driven by fear of relegation and probably not totally sustainable.

Everton really ought to but have at least the option to make a lot of money on DCL still. THey are both clubs that in the last decade at least tried to build their commercial revenue. We didn't and we basically have very few saleable assets. We need more income and that isnt going to come overnight. There is also clearly headway to sign some more players but the club is trying to be careful with it.

Yeah pretty tasty, though Antonio is definitely a centre forward now don't think he will return to the wing. Still I think they should improve.
-
As I understand it he wants to play in midfield and they promised that, but if Tierney is injured, and he is most the time, then Arsenal's next left back is Tavares and he's rubbish so something tells me he will end up there quite a bit. I do not understand Arsenal after Paqueta tbh, they have Odergaard, Martinelli, Saka, Fabio Viera, Emil Smith Rowe for creative attacking mids. They need another deeper central mid if anything even after zinchenko cos Partey is good if fit (or something else) Xhaka, Elneny and...Lokonga are not much...
-
I would love Paqueta but I doubt it. I am wondering now if they are just going to wait till later in the window to see if prices come down and focus on clearing deadwood for now.
-
Oh yeah absolutely just to say it's not surefire that they will do very well with all the money spent
-
Forest spending a lot of money could go well or could go like Fulham last time they came up.
-
I can see that but still get the feeling lascelles is valued for his presence in dressing room almost more than on pitch, havign said that a decent offer came in for him would make sense
-
We are well stocked for CBs, why wouldnt we sell him? Good servant but he's not going to get minutes
-
I understand thinking Toney may be a knob argument but the idea he is a drop in quality from Ekitike is funny. Not necessarilly wrong, Ekitike could well become a great player but he is unproven in the league and as yet undeveloped. Toney got 12 goals in 33 in premier league which is by no means terrible before you take into account that brentford were kinda garbage for a fair amount of the season. Long term Ekitike may be better bet and may have higher ceiling (and is a different type of player) but Toney would likely be more immedite in benefit.

That's an article that comes from this set of questions: "If Newcastle were not to sign another striker would you be upset" Howe, not wanting to act like he's annoyed at the club and also to make players feel wanted "No, if we can't get another striker in Callum will be brilliant number 9 for us next season"
-
I haven't heard any noise about a move which i think we would have if he was agitating for one. Hopefully he's listening to howe. I just want him to be in position for great balls through from bruno leaving him with only one player to beat rather than trying to go past everyone and losing it. It's definitely a combination between his poor decision making and other teams knowing he's only threat so doubling up on him while wood and miggy didn't need much attention. I hope when there are more threats on pitch he will have more fun

No thanks

i don't think we will be often dominating posession, I think we need more technically gifted midfielders to do that, Bruno is great but Joelinton isn't, maybe sean longstaff can step up but not exactly iniesta is he. Shelvey isn't the quickest and his instant decision making can be suspect. Sign a really technically gifted mid to go along with bruno and joe we can maybe dominate possession. Do we need to? Absolutely not, I am not sure that's Howe's style it's more counter press than posession style. That is fine by me, but, when we have depth of squad to have it as an option, and certainly drill teh squad as is to get better at it, I think it is a weakness of us when a team is getting away from us we sometimes fail to take the sting out of games by just passing it around.
-
The prices quoted for paqueta seemed a bit beyond what we were willing to pay
-
Yeah I imagine we are listening to offers for Fernandez and if we can't get rid of him must be at risk of being excluded from the 25 if Dummet is still wanted.
-
He was/is neither has bad as some claim nor particularly good. He certainly helped out play and kept us higher up the pitch. That is only part of his job though and I think even he would likely admit he ought to be threatening goal more.

I could not stomach moving from the present location. I could cope with complete rebuild I guess but I fear a soulless identikit stadium. But anyone happy to move it from it's current location is utterly mad. I am angry enough with how much development has been allowed to block views to it as is.
-
So Barca demand their players all take a pay cut and/or defer wages. They try to ship De Jong to Man U even though he wants to stay, when he decides screw it might as well go they tell him he can't unless he waives the £17m deferred wages, meanwhile they also court Lewandowski and bid £50m for Raphinha. How is this nonsense allowed.
-
Tbh that's actually suspicious someone for a cheeky bet on?

I am quite happy with our main style being that of the Arsenal game (which i think was our 'best' performance of the howe era) where we got better posession through pressing and through intensity not through 'posession' guardiola style football. I would though like us to manage games better and that involves being able to turn downt he aggression conserve energy and play keep ball and prevent counter attacks. We played with desperation last season under Howe, we won't have that backs against the wall desperation and while some of continuing is keeping that intensity up it will also be making sure the squad can play different ways. With 5 subs next season too I imagine plenty of scope for changing up.
