Theres still plenty that can go wrong, plenty of time to go through a terrible patch. However what is pleasing is we look solid at the back, and look capable of the similar grinding out results even when playing poorly as last season. If Rafa stays and no ridiculous injury crisis think overwhelmingly we'll be fine. However that is a BIG if. It's entirely possible Ashley will sabotague us, or something else ridiculous. So I'll stay at 3 or 4ish.

Abraham, yeah from brief glimpses had more about his game than finishing which is what I was worrying about. I do wonder though, could he have fought to come to us more and forced Chelsea's hand? The advantage of Joselu is he seems super excited to play for Rafa. We have a good team spirit now partially I think from players who want to work for a champions league winning coach so not going to whinge too much over losing out to him. I think if Ashley wasn't being a cunt we should reasonably have been looking for more than Abraham anyway.

Considering how mentally weak we've been against them for a while was kinda glad we don't have to play them. I think now we wouldn't freeze and absolutely shank them and they're not even good enough to be in the league ffs

Fucks sake all playing into him being called a genius

Really impressed with his tackling and everything really. We don't play possession football so much but he actually feels ideally suited, can pass out of trouble when needed, can connect the long passes, has vision going forward and can also win the ball back.

joeyt is redknapp confirmed

Should be up to fitness for next week fine. Thought he was decent today until the end, glad to have him back.

Played very well, after thinking prolly done for him at the club at end of last season feels a very valuable utility player atm.

What a f***ing manager he is. Pretty much any other manager in the league, even the good ones, would have struggled to avoid the atmosphere, the (justified) negativity, affecting the team. He has clearly no matter what has been going on, compartmentalised the fury he must feel at being lied to and got on with the daily hard work of preparing the team, protected them from ever feeling worried he may be leaving and above that got them playing as confident as they ever have. and then he had to be away for a week ill and still didn't disrupt his in depth preparation.

i think it's more that he played the last part of last season with an injury which affected him more than he gave on till the end.

Yeah in many ways I like Huddersfield and don't even mind his massively ott goal line antics thaaat much but he was a very poor loser a lot last season imo and his post match comments through last season were quite often obnoxious. Contrast with Clement at Swansea whom I dunno yet is any good but is at least classy.

Remember when we had a coach who as time went by would make players worse and worse?
-
Again, willing to trust Rafa as a coach will improve him and get him calmer in the box
-
Look a fair number of shambles below us, not worried much atm, 3

Just tensed up against old club, hopefully rafa's coaching will get him calmer in front of goal. Missed his linkup play after he went off.

Pretty much agree spot on with that. Maybe would have pushed Merino to 8

Very happy with the start of the season now, seem well clear of relegation zone scrabble, look solid and scoring important goals.
-
Get in, gritty performance, should have been daylight if joselu could shoot (suspect pressure against old club showed mentally)
