weird game in that livepool have been substantially better than chelsea and yet the refs have been horrendously biased into guaranteeing them the result
-
course that's a penalty lol
-
He's very biased hasn't sent off the entire chelsea team yet must be secret chelsea fan
-
I mean Liverpool competing properly for the title does leave open the possibility that they are denied the title on the last day of the season because of a bad VAR call, would be hilarious
-
Liverpool regen right back scores
-
Chelsea are absolute wank
-
In fairness his champions league goal vs psg is worth at least 10 premier league goals
-
I dunno they have been very successful with that very high line all season I can't see why Emery wouldn't back his defense to keep up the excellent work they have been doing. You play like that you probably expect to get turned over a few times a season but generally worth it.
-
Hmm think we'll lose this tbh
-
Sorry saying you love Liverpool too much to manage another premier League side? Thank god i guess but come on, hate this who really resents this as long as not direct rivals? Bournemouth don't seem upset at howe and he is more mr Bournemouth than klopp is mr Liverpool. Wouldn't shock me if he comes back to manage arsenal or something in future with big climb down unless he's giving up managing entirely

Sad, I thought there would be a few heartbreaking sales but I imagined in Summer not now. Season is effectively been written off. It's going to be demoralising for the squad too, I imagine a poor second half does Howe get sacked despite all this? Will be a bottom half finish if no replacements coming in, and then it's how much room for a rebuild do we have? As a slight defender of at least some of the reasoning behind FFP absolutely ludicrous it's biting us so hard when there is absolutely no existential threat to our club from our spending.

I was taking the question a bit tongue in cheek i am totally aware he was brilliant lol just somehow i always thought he was fluking it the whole time :P
-
In fairness, I know I am wrong on this, he clearly was really good but somehow never liked him or got on with it...
-
Frank Lampard. Sure he was very good goalscorer but the idea that constituted a good midfielder held england back for years...
-
Always liked Billing, I still trust Howe and the club.
-
And for the record if you went back in time and showed me this comment I'd never believe you
-
Joelinton embodies Howe-ball more than any other player on the team. Love him the most and we are not the same without him.
-
I'm sure he will be sold for big profits in summer or next summer and we will buy a very promising replacement it will be very sad but that's football currently

To answer the question, it is basically best possible interpretation about preventing clubs spending themselves into going bust in a bid to compete. By accident or design (whatever) it absolutely does not level the playing field and I don't think it was ever serious attempt to be as such but they named it financial fair play to make it sound as much and trumpet they were making some effort. IIRC they have now banned leveraged buyouts, way too late but that at least is a thing of the past. I stand by earlier argument that ditching FFP would help us but also unleash even man city to go ballistic with spending plans sending player values skyrocketing further, I don't think that is desirable, even if we are able to keep up with our owners. Having said that, it seems beyond possible that FFP spending limits are one of the reasons they were convinced to buy the club, they may have the money in the bank that doesnt mean they want to be spending £100m every transfer window out their own pocket, it is an investment not necessarily a money sink. I would want the league to look at - if they can realistically do anything that would cap and limit wages at big clubs, something like only allowed so many 'high earners', so clubs can't stockpile so many top players, force some to be sold - if anything can bring down the huge costs for players that makes it so difficult for clubs to keep to FFP. - do either without lawsuits on constraint of trade etc. Nothing will happen though. The 'top 6' are too motivated to protect their position and the clubs below won't want to do anything to benefit clubs like us putting any daylight between us and them. In the end while it is still making money the league is not much motivated to make grand changes in the name of 'fairness'.

Eddie Howe: watched the Man Utd game in hospital (Tindall)

I agree with all and the idea we could switch out to a new way of playing with same players mid season is a fantasy, nor do i want us to as a whole, the high intensity press is fine but a few alternate players just to make us better at it, so we can lean that way a bit more when we need to give legs a rest. That is not to say we will be the best at posession, we are not going ot be the best high press and best ball holders until all players are £100m players if that could happen lol, just saying we could be better at it, but it will take time and it will take players leaving and players coming -

We definitely need to be more comfortable holding possession and slowing the game down. -
Could they not afford a security guard to be there while games are on, it does feel like the gangs burgle then during games each time to know they are away
-
Jesus yes there was too much space in front of the defence but a bit is did you see how good foden is at taking the ball on the half turn and either running with it or immediately passing it forward? That's why the ball would get passed into him and he's away from our players way quicker than anyone else in the league. They were really really good! That has to be part of it.
