  1. From Football 365. Top of the Premier League non-champions table. "Newcastle (360 days) Last day top of the Premier League – August 13, 2007 It is almost impressive to spend five days short of an entire year at the top of the Premier League without ever actually winning it. Newcastle have been top of the Premier League for a longer total time than two winners (Blackburn, 238 days, and Leicester, 187 days), as well as being at the summit almost three times as long as Tottenham (50 days), Bolton (38 days), Everton (38 days) and West Ham (1 day) combined. It all started with Kevin Keegan’s infamous title races – and collapses – but the baton was gamely picked up by Sir Bobby Robson, and even Sam Allardyce at the start of the 2007/08 season. Oh, those heady early days under Mike Ashley’s ownership."
  2. Aye I heard that too. We can live in hope. What he say? Towards the end of his interview he said he was going to try to enjoy the job because, "I won't be here much longer, I don't think". But before that he said the takeover seems to have gone away, although he wouldn't know. Eh, quite an odd thing to say if he doesn’t know that he’s gone, no? Yeah, although it might have been just a slip of the tongue because he knows he's out of his depth.

  4. Think one of those Leeds blokes failed? It's about money and proving you have it rather than morals I think The only reason I can recall for anyone being judged not fit and proper is being done for tax fraud.
  5. It has long been said that peoples get the government they deserve. If there's any validity to that dictum, it's even more true of football clubs.
  6. Fackin' 'ell, lads! It was a genuine attempt at a tackle. That's a yellow card. If he’d clipped his heels without any chance of reaching the ball it'd have been red.
  7. If a goal or goalscoring opportunity is denied in the penalty area, it's not a red card if it results from a genuine attempt to play the ball. If it results from cheating (eg. shirt pulling or clearly deliberate handball) it's still red.
  8. Yes, debatable that it was a clear goal scoring opportunity as he didn't have possession and by the time he got possession the defender would have been covering players committing accidental fouls, that deny a goal-scoring opportunity, are not automatically sent off, but cautioned instead. Only if a penalty is given, Shirley.

I'm convinced our best chance of getting 'shot' of the Burnham Bunter lies with someone who's been a victim of his business dealings. I wish he'd fuck over MS13 or a gang of Albanian sex traffickers.
  10. Brilliant. Sent from my Nokia something or other using this prodder thingy with a bit of rubber on the end.
  11. Martin Hardy of the Independent reckons £12.7m. About f***ing time we spent some money on the most important position. Charnley probably keyed an extra zero into Paypal by mistake.
  12. Team photo should feature him in camo gear holding an AKM.

    Remy Cabella

Rupert Ritzik probably clued him in on all the players before he left. That'll be why Williamson & Colback are featuring prominently.
  14. Yeah, similar theme as well. "We've really fucked up."

    John Carver

Utterly disingenuous, as you'd expect from Sky and the BBC. He was talking about remaining positive and maintaining an optimistic outlook in our current plight. He said, "I still think I'm the best coach in the Premier League. Thats what I think. And there's nothing wrong with that." Would still be better if he STFU, like.
  16. I think that would only apply if he was still in consideration for the job. I can't see why he would consider himself duty bound if he'd ruled himself out. Clutching at straws maybe but at this point it's all we've got. Surely it's because Ashley would sue him if he broke the agreed confidentiality clause. There is another possible explanation for the confidentiality terms and the apparent leakage of pro Carver sentiments to the local press. Bearing in mind the club's well established Machiavellian tendencies, it could be that their sole purpose is to make Carver himself believe he's still in with a shout of the job! If the club intends, or has even already arranged, to make a sensible appointment in the summer they still need JC to keep us out of a relegation battle in the meantime. In that case, the last thing they'd want is for him to suspect that his fate's already sealed. Remember, when asked if he'd be prepared to take charge just for the rest of the season, he said he'd have to think about it. Moreover, if he's out on his ear they wouldn't want the players knowing yet either. Not if they want to stay up. Yeah, I know. Just sayin' ......
  17. I'll see your RG III and raise you an Aaron Hernandez. No way man. I bet Hernandez's numbers have gone off the charts since he made the switch to the Prison Football League. Never thought of that!

  19. Well, you're not Gordon Brown, that's for sure!
  20. It's seriously taken this s*** with MYM for you to accept what has been accepted truths for almost a decade. Christ Spudil is a legend. Not legendary enough though, apparently.
  21. My mother likes him because he seems "like a lovely chap". We are no longer on speaking terms. I even cancelled her birthday and threw the cake away. Oh, and the dog p*ssed on her shoes. He should have pissed on her cake.
