Nothing to worry about really even if it's true. If people wasn't going to pay 7m then i doubt they would pay 15m. According to reports i'm pretty sure it's around 35k basic wage with performance based bonuses.

He probably is tbh as De Jong is a very limited player and overrated in my eyes and Van Bommel is past it. He probably would have controlled the tempo of games and helped keep the ball a lot better while constructing attacks from deep better than they can. None the less, he probably is worth that amount potential wise. But what players are actually worth and what we would pay for them is something totally different. If we do pay that for him then fair enough, but i have my doubts.

That seems 1-2m over the top, i doubt we would go from 4m to 7m just like that. He's a good player, very good at the role we seem to want him for but 9m euros good? Seems a bit high.

It wasn't club's coming in that worried me though, that can happen with any player. It was the fact we had no power over it, he could have left for 7m ( supposedly) and we could have done nothing about it. Now the clause has expired we actually have a degree of a control over any Ba transfer and that makes me feel a lot more comfortable.

Was speaking to some argentines on another forum and they reckon the reasons are political. It seems if you dont play for a big club in Europe or the manager's ex club it's very hard to get in Absolute thrilled for Colo to finally get in though, even though it is well overdue. Having said that they are clearly taking the piss calling him up 3 days before a league game ffs after ignoring him for so long.

Agreed I quite like it now i have seen us play in it a few times, even the spikes are hardly noticeable when watching us play. Will probably end up getting myself one.

Willems wasn't even that bad, he played decent for his age and id argue all 3 of the defenders along side him was worse.

It might have something to do with the fact fullbacks are not really respected in the same way as other positions across the board. Which is a bit silly IMO, fullbacks are probably one of the most important position in the modern game as really good ones can act as extra midfielders to help with possession, build attacks and overall just provide an extra attacking outlet. With Alves at Barca being the main example, i remember Guardiola mentioning at one point how he could change the system many times during any one game due to Alves being able to fulfill many different roles at once. The overall difference to our possession and attack between Simpson and Raylor to Santon and Debuchy will be worth it's weight in gold.

I'd agree with that. Especially if we are going forward with a 4-4-2. I don't think he's good enough for 3rd choice regardless of formation.
