What's happened to Townsend, he was billed as the second coming of Christ not long back by the media. Been hampered by injuries? Although 25 games, 0 goals and 1 assist doesn't help his cause. He's still a kid. If the media leave him the f*** alone instead of heaping pressure on him and he continues to concentrate on his football then he'll still be a very good player. So if the media leaves him the f*** alone he'll be able to concentrate on his football? Shouldn't he be able to do that anyways if he has any sort of talent? Those were two separate conditions joined by an "and." I'll let you off, English being your 8th language or something. Fair enough, still, if he can't handle ''pressure'' from media he shouldn't be a footballer. That's a very broad statement to make. There's a significant difference between the pressure coaches and fans will put on him to perform at his best and the crap the media pull. He's still only 22 and may or may not have the maturity to deal with it. Some do, some don't but at his age it's never helpful. Setting unrealistic expectations and tearing him apart when he inevitably fails to meet them is never going to work out well. If some 22 year olds can deal with that then good on them. But it certainly won't have helped them. Realistic goals, targets, areas for improvement with some constructive criticism, fine. But that's not what the media supplies. Again fair enough if that's your opinion, I just don't think a 22 year old footballer should be feeling pressure from media. But then again, there are some fragile minds out there. The English media can be especially brutal though... I think I lot of their absolutely dire international tournament experiences can be traced, at least in part, to the complete media nightmare that follows them everywhere. Especially all those penalty issues... It kind of reminds me of the new york yankees, where a lot of players who are very decent players just can't handle the fishbowl scenario of playing for the yankees and they collapse.

Nothing but love for Cabaye, I really miss having an honest-to-god legitimate hope of scoring when we got a free kick. Now it's just a question of which player will hoof it into the stands. So he protested against the regime and fucked off to a different club, I can't blame him. We have a whole forum dedicated to the first, and any footballer with some self respect would attempt the second.

Had on. These c***s get bonus' because they were too s*** for is to sell? Yip - loyalty and that I wish I could be rewarded for being so s*** it my job no other company was willing to part with cash for me to work for them... You do, it's called severance pay. At the end of my current contract I'd be lucky to get a pat on the back if I was s*** at my job . Lucky I'm the sales equivalent of Lionel Messi really. The point being, it's not uncommon for people to be rewarded for not moving jobs. Loyalty bonuses for footballers have mostly replaced signing on fees anyway. It's not meant as a reward for playing well. Nah I get the point. It just stinks. I mean, yeah, I'm not a fan either Ashley will probably take it out of our transfer budget too Our what?

2014 FIFA World Cup Brasil™ - Europe vs. America
Miercoles replied to LucaAltieri's topic in Football
I hope for the sake of some of the guys on here that Altidore gets a hattrick in the World Cup. Think that group could be more interesting than many are expecting it to be. Oh absolutely, I agree. But none of the USA players will have come up against a player like Ronaldo. Reckon, otherwise, USA will give it a good bash. Could get something against Ghana, for example. Argh I can't wait. If we beat Ghana I'll be happy whatever else happens* - those dicks have knocked us out of the last to world cups running. *as long as Ghana doesn't advance -
Fuck that would be great

Technically that was Allah

Alright. Germany better hope Özil is back and in form because Khedira, Gundogan and Özil would be a huge blow. Loving the sound of this... If germany and portugal tie while the USA beats ghana (lol) we can be right in the mix for getting eliminated in the first knockout round -

I busted so many nuts to Shakira back in the day... -
Not to mention the cunting Newcastle dressing room.

Just hoping Altidore's shittiness at sunderland keeps him out of the world cup squad. He has always been a f***ing lazy worthless player.

Brutal loss. 3-0 at least. -
What in the FUCK is that on the right?? Some shit you would only see in England...

Put it this way, if you supported a mid table Bundesliga team and they signed Ben Arfa, who wasn't getting games in the Premiership. Wouldn't you be a bit, yah. Now i know De Jong is no Ben Arfa but the point being, good players sometimes dont get picked by thick as f*** managers. 6 goals in 29 appearances or something... not sure I'd have picked him either. Whatever, I hope he does well of course, and I don't know anything about the guy so I'm not sure why I'm arguing.

I just can't get excited for signing a player on loan who can't get into a game in the bundesliga. Why are people stoked about this? Is it just because we have nothing else to talk about?

It is just the edgy counterculture thing to do now; being happy with the club.
