How so? At least Monaco have some sort of history to them, while Man City, Chelsea and PSG were big(ish) teams before hand anyway. While Anzhi are paying big money so their players can live and train in Moscow and just fly in to Makhachkala for their games (a distance equivilant to our players living and training in Florence) while being surrounded by large amounts of security. I don't think history itself qualifies a team to spend outrageous sums of money, i.e. it's no more fair if Chelsea spend 10 billion than if Fulham or West Brom were to do the same. And there's a very good reason for Anzhi living and training in Moscow, namely the danger of being in Dagestan. Though I believe they've been cleared by UEFA to return to their home stadium next season.

Not really. Ashley has pleasantly surprised us with acquisitions before (Cabaye, Sissoko, MYM). And considering the rumors of Benitez wanting to stay in England, it wasn't so far-fetched to think we might've been in the running. Wouldn't shock me to see Roma in Warrior kits considering ownership's connection to Liverpool vis-a-vis the Red Sox. I dunno, never been a huge fan of Kappa. The 'back-to-back strippers' logo always seems a little much. Granted anything is preferable to Warrior.
