  1. Shame they saved that kit for the Championship. Loads better than the crap they wore this year.
  2. We do lack real leaders on this team at the moment.
  3. Great, here come the jackals. A "storied club" I meant to say, before I'm castigated.
  4. WRONG! You really think so? If i didn't support NUFC and i was his adviser i would not pick Newcastle as his best option career wise. He's 24 and had an opportunity to jump to a storied franchise in the most lucrative league in the world. He knows he'll get playing time here and the chance to showcase his talent to even bigger clubs. A no-brainer really.
  5. Left-back and central defender is where they really need to strenghten. Dempsey/Holtby/Sigurdsson can do a job behind the striker. It's a shame for them that Adebayor doesn't care too much, because on his day he can be unstoppable. The debate is what they need for a title push though.... Dempsey, Holtby and Sigurdsson are not title winning AMs. For a title push they need 5 or 6 players of real quality IMO, there's a reason they finished 5th. I don't think that's true at all. Cohesiveness wins championships as much as talent. I don't think many would claim ManU had a better starting XI position-by-position than City or Chelsea this year. But they still ran away with the title. That's a testament to SAF, but also to how well they play as a single unit. Spurs too play very well as a team. With an addition or two, they're quite capable of challenging for the title in AVB's second year there, especially considering the managerial turnover at the top 3 after this season. IMO, Bale had his best year as a pro largely because of the instability at striker. He is the kind of player who loves getting the ball and running with it...if given the time and space, he'll run the ball straight into the goal. Which is what happened this year with Adebayor not playing. Dempsey was played up top several times this season, and he certainly isn't a striker. But that's an asset with a player like Bale in the side, as Dempsey moves well and knows when to get the hell out of the way when Bale is charging forward with the ball. If Spurs want to keep Bale as their primary weapon, which they should, they need to invest in a forward like Aguero. Someone who can put the ball in the net, but who also knows when to move and can interchange with Bale/Dempsey/Sigurdsson/Lennon/Holtby/whomever. They're too fluid a side for an Adebayor-type target forward. I'd say they're one striker and a quality CB away at this point, though they could use another wide player to challenge Lennon. Getting Rose back will help on the left side and he can challenge for the starting LB gig.
  6. Had a lot of money the whole time. Which he earned through consistent success though.

  8. Top-class player. Of course he was a bit overrated...he was English and wildly talented. The world's most famous player of the past 15 years. But unlike many, he embraced and thrived in the spotlight. And I still don't think there's a better striker of the dead ball in the world. He can still hit 'em as well as anyone.
  9. Not a single goal off a corner this season.

No matter how shit we are, we'll always be better than Sunderland.
  11. Wouldn't surprise me. Strikes me as an excellent coach.
  12. People watching ESPN have no clue who Steve Harper is or the importance of this game to him. They're catering to their audience.
  13. An unceremonious end to an absolutely turgid season.
  14. I imagine we'll stick with: RB Debuchy Santon Tavernier LB Santon Haidara Yanga-Mbiwa

I will hold you responsible if that turns out to be shite and I will not only kill you, I will also kill every living member of your family. http://x9a.xanga.com/77af853239d32277106676/m220776126.Gif
  16. It doesn't, but I don't think that's the point.
  17. What an absurd discussion. Sounds like Deuce still bends over to pick up that filthy paper money. How tall are you and what are you doing this winter? Please, I would never bother myself with stooping down low. That's what a manservant is for.

How did we manage 10th place after that date, but still manage the joint second-worst GD in the league? I know the answer (2 loses of 0-9), it's just pathetic.

Your elf eyes do not deceive you, Legolas. I'd start Guzan myself. Handled himself expertly in the most recent qualifiers and he's had a far better season than Howard. Then I'd take Howard and whichever of the remaining four stands out in camp.

I imagine the Gold Cup roster will be overwhelmingly MLS, with some Scandinavia-based players thrown-in for kicks.

Yeah Davis played himself out of the picture with his performance in the last qualifier, imo. Just not an international-level player. Not sure why he continues to get caps. Holden played pretty well on loan for Sheffield Wednesday after his return. At this point he needs games, which he obviously won't get now that the Championship season is over. I'd like to see him make the Gold Cup roster later this summer.
