Am I right or wrong in thinking once the PSR deadline passes tonight it starts another 3 year cycle which will enable us to spend some money? Or is that too simplistic? -
Yankuba Minteh (now playing for Brighton & Hove Albion)

If he can match Murphy's goals/assists contribution from last season he will have had a good first PL season. -
Going forward we needed an upgrade or a challenger to Pope, we ended up with barely an upgrade on Dubravka. Hopefully in time he will grow into a top goalkeeper, but if Popes shoulder injury is an intermittent issue, Trafford could end up playing a lot of games, and if he's not ready that could spell disaster.

Don't get it 😕

We've just watched a team that finished below us in the league win the Fa Cup only yesterday, a team that's also been blighted by injuries. Having said that I didn't really expect us to win anything by this point anyway, it just needs to go that way within the next couple of seasons IMO or rightfully questions will need to be asked. This isn't Howe out, it's Howe needs to deliver silverware, particularly if he's well backed in the next few windows.
-
So you would give him a free pass with 0 trophies for the next 5 years 10 years? Simply because we haven't won anything in so long anyway? Seems an odd stance. I've already said he has credit in the bank and deserves a chance to deliver, all I'm saying is if it becomes apparent he can't do that then other options would eventually need to be considered, not sure why this is such a controversial opinion.
-
Actually, not once anywhere have I said he should have already delivered us a trophy, I'm asking the question of how many seasons does he get winning 0 trophies before we look elsewhere for someone who can? I've already said he deserves to continue. The bloke has been great for us but needs to deliver silverware at some point, would imagine he would admit the same thing himself.
-
I completely understand that, because of where we've come from over the last 20 years it's easy to just be happy that we're competing and qualifying for Europe, which obviously is an amazing thing, I'm just wondering how long people are willing to wait before we actually win something to consider Howe might not be the answer to our trophy drought, when does qualifying for Europe become not enough?
-
So if we are going into the season after next with 0 trophies, would you be happy with the club making the decision to bring in someone else? Personally even if we qualify for Europe again next season I'd still be looking for someone who can win us some actual silverware rather than giving him another 5 year contract. We all love Howe and I recognise that he's a good coach but if it becomes evident he can't deliver the goods we need to leave the sentiment behind. I desperately want him to succeed I just have my doubts, but he should be safe for the time being.
-
Let's just hope there's been an internal review into why nobody has been able to stay consistently fit this season bar a few, because expecting all these injuries to stop just because it's a new season is naive.

Brentford 2-4 Newcastle United (19/05/24) | Reaction: pg 36

Random one but I kept the game on for a while after it finished and wasn't really paying much attention, the next thing I know Thomas Frank came out with a microphone and started thanking the fans etc.... but he went on for ages and was dropping loads of F bombs and swears and there was kids and families looking on from the stands looking horrified ? honestly surreal. Did anyone see it? -
He's nowhere near an elite level player but he is a very capable squad player who has a surprising amount of assists this season, would keep him around, we still need a top class RW of course but Murphy offers far more than Almiron has for a long time.
-
He's done an incredible job overall since arriving and would back him in the summer and see how far he can take us, but I've always had a gut feeling that we will never win anything under Howe, Im just not sure he's got what it takes, it's not based on facts or anything just a feeling, I hope to be proven defiantly wrong about that.
-
Move him on, he's been finished for half a season now, has more errors leading to goals than any other player in the league, should probably be able to get a bit of money for him aswell. Only thing that concerns me is how injury prone Livramento is, but I'd trust Krafth to come in and do a better job than Trippier these days. Has still been out most important signing or the Howe era, but doesn't look like the same bloke to me since around the time of all those personal rumours (true or not)
-
Bloke has declined so badly this season, absolutely not good enough to be anywhere near our team, ideal scenario is he goes and we bring in a new No1 for Pope to fight it out with.
-
He's enjoying a long string of games with seemingly no new niggles which is great to see, long may it continue.
-
I remember seeing 63 at the time but like you say some could be add ons, but even still he's proven himself already as one of the best in the prem and potentially world class, still think he's worth well into the 100's.
-
We signed Isak for 63 million and I've seen 70 million quoted for him in the press, I'd be absolutely raging with the club if he went for less than 120 million, both of them, each.

Our midfield must be an absolute joy to play against, all the time and space in the world. -
Either scores worldies or does fuck all, no in-between.

We've been bullied from start to finish tonight, they won comfortably while giving their best player a 60 minute rest. 6th probably gone now, to be honest if funds are limited in the summer it's probably best we don't get Europe and have another season building the squad and establishing an identity, because it's certainly not pressing and intensity anymore.
