I remember loads of Liverpool fans and even ex players saying hes quite a cold manager, not an arm around the shoulder deep chat kind of guy, but from what I've seen he seems like hes softened in his old-er age.

Ritches two weaknesses are his pace and his ability to beat a man, hes not really that kind of player, which is probably why hes a class above in the champ but average in the prem. He relies more on his positioning and timing to be effective out wide.

Surely all the problems and attributes described would make him a terrible choice for a deeper CM though? Still don't get why people want to see him deeper.

What's he done now? Absolutely nothing, he was very effective when he came on, should have started, him and Gayle up front and we would have won by a few. Effective, he did nothing of note and give it away a few times. I guess its just a case of whether the glass is half-full or half-empty. I saw him, as the lone outfield player, successfully maintain possession through clever use of the ball several times. I focused on that and you apparently focused on the times he couldn't do that through being surrounded or vastly outnumbered. But your attitude is so very different to what it was a year or two ago, I can't be the only one who sees that. He really hasn't been really poor like, people are being hysterical as usual. He had a match where he missed a couple of easy sitters and another where he lost the ball a few times, but overall he's obviously a very useful player and I think we've already seen that in a Newcastle shirt. Think Mitro/Perez might've been the better choice today as a few expected. Gayle couldn't get into it due to the consistant long balls, it took Atsu doing it on his own. Only he & Anita really went for it in terms of attacking & made our best chances. Not a big fan of Perez but definitely think it was more of a game for Mitro than Gayle today, but who knows.

Awful first half, had a spell in the second where he was winning the ball back a fair bit which you would expect against bottom of the league Rotherham, overall still unimpressive and failed to make a big impact on the game.

Bang on about Clark, wins absolutely everything in the air and looks top of his game at the moment, bet hes chuffed he left that shower of shite at Villa. Lascelles and Clark should be continuing to start together for the time being, but knowing Rafa that wont be the case

People actually giving Mitro a hard time for his 10 minutes on the pitch, he won a few headers, made himself available and held the ball up. Lost the ball once from a poor cross and that's it. Wasn't particularly good or bad, it was 10 minutes when we were pretty much backs to the wall.

Not expecting us to thrash them, i just think we do a bad job of when we get a lead of maintaining pressure to kill the game off. We have already dropped points this season because of it, i don't blame anyone in particular as it's something that takes a while to get mentally right but it's definitely something we need to improve on IMO.
