Ashley's always wanted someone to effectively run the club for him. For whatever reason, he didn't trust Keegan to do it. Various people have filled the gap - but it seems he does trust Rafa. I hope.

That's shocking that like IP. Bang out of order. Alan: I think the Irish are going through a major image change. I mean, the old image of leprechauns, shamrock, Guinness. Horses running through council estates. Toothless simpletons. People with eyebrows on their cheeks. Badly tarmacked drives, in this country. Men in platform shoes being arrested for bombings. Lots of rocks, and Beamish. I think people are saying “Yes, there’s more to Ireland than this”. A good slogan for the tourist board [irish accent] “There’s more to Oi-reland, DAN DIS.”. http://cms.springboard.gorillanation.com/embed_iframe/2653/video/772313/what003/whatculture.com/5

http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/14515833.Five_reasons_why_Rafa_is_still_the_gaffer_at_Newcastle_United/ "Benitez has been open about his intentions from the minute Newcastle’s relegation was confirmed. Had he received a lucrative offer from elsewhere in the last fortnight, he would not have agreed to remain. Everton and Valencia were both linked with a possible move, and either might have been attractive had it come to fruition. But the former decided appointing a Champions League winner with Liverpool was a line that was not worth crossing, while the latter stuck with Pako Ayesteran, who worked with Benitez at Anfield. There was interest in the Spaniard from a couple of other clubs in La Liga, but the only formal offers came from clubs in Turkey and China." Is this actually the case? Were we the fallback?

People in public life in this country seriously know fuck all.

If they'd only done this with KK all those years ago...

Lawro on R5 saying Ashely is much maligned, has put his hand in his pocket and that the constant turnover of managers has been the problem.

Pardew doesn't have it in him to go for it. Hes too attritional.
-
That's deliberate. He's had media coaching which has taught him that if you repeat something people will start to believe it.

So to summarise - sexy heartthrob ex-Newcastle Frenchman Ginola passed out because he was TOO hot?
-
That's because they need more than one source to verify usually. Whereas Sky just report any old shite.

Mick Lowes talking down th chances of Rafa staying on Radio Newcastle.

Well quite - but I was hoping for something on the finances if anyone has it. He hasn't spent much on us, has he?
-
Lad at work saying Ashley isn't the problem - he's put loads on his own money into the club over the years. Can anyone disprove this?

I believe that the accepted word in these here parts is 'thup'.

I'd take that as a plus. http://i4.chroniclelive.co.uk/incoming/article1383128.ece/ALTERNATES/s1200/head-of-media-relations-at-newcastle-united-wendy-taylor-with-bust-of-sir-bobby-robson-she-s-planning-an-alpine-trek-for-charity-948348579.jpg

Ashley is also advised by Carr and Moncur. Both of whom MUST be advocating Rafa.

That's a cracking article mind. But as far as I can tell Caulkin has always pretty much called it as it is so I am confused at the hostility in here .

Shearer's favourite manager is Kenny Dalglish. He was instrumental in his appointment. He likes percentage-playing, attritional managers - and Sam Allardyce is right up his street.

He took Shola...

Can we ditch this stupid rhetoric? Ashley has not opened his wallet. He allowed the club to spend income which it has generated. Not the same thing at all.
