I don’t disagree, like I say its been incredibly frustrating but I’d be hard pressed to say we were a better footballing side under Rafa, just could do things like score a goal and then not immediately concede.

We’ve been frustrating to watch this year but loads better than anything we saw under since Ba, Cisse, Ben Arfa.

There’s a touch of the moussa sissokos about Gordon. Similarly an important player here with a low output in terms of goals and assists. Gordon stretches teams, pins full backs back and carries the ball well at pace. He also helps a lot with our press in the final third. Everything feels very ragged at the moment, all well and good selling players but selling our best players (of which Gordon may or may my be one but the fee be he goes for would suggest he is) whilst expanding and improving the squad seems hard.

If you’re playing in that position and not losing possession then it’s indicative of a bigger problem. The bigger issue (that Howe commented on post match) is making sure he is positioned high enough up the pitch between the lines to get on the end of chances. Think he will soon be back amongst the goals if he can just get the hang of arriving late into the box.

If PSR wasnt a thing I don’t think selling him makes sense. Barnes may be ‘better’ but at the moment we have both. Seems to be an aversion to having more than one good player per position in a squad.
