  1. ITV4 once again discussing any game but ours.

    José Mourinho

Two very different challenges, and both are difficult. I have a lot of time and respect for Mourinho, what he has achieved in the game is far from easy. He has moved countries, inherited other managers players, signed his own and created winning combinations in such short spaces of time. Yes, he has had money to work with in the market, but it's not as straight forward as just "Sign player A, B and C and we'll play great, winning football". Over the last decade he has managed to get such a diverse selection of players at 4 clubs in 4 different countries to buy into his management, and created winning teams. I don't think it should ever be simplified as that is not easy to do. How many other managers have done what he has done? He'll go down as one of the greats, and rightly so. Alex Ferguson is a different kettle of fish, I don't think he could achieve what Mourinho has done with so many clubs, and I don't think Mourinho could have done what Ferguson has achieved.

Why does those children appear to worship Fraser Forster?

    Loïc Remy

I don't think he's a player that I'd splash out on as his attitude seems to be all wrong. Our contract offer wasn't far behind QPR, and for me the writing has been on the wall for them since before January.

    Loïc Remy

I think he's followed the money with his move to QPR, not entirely sure he has the right mindset which would put me off making a move for him.
  6. Who capitalised sunderland in the thread title goddamnit?
  7. Just think after a win we should really look to capitalise on the momentum. I wouldn't change much for Benfica, keep a winning formula and look to carry that on to Sunderland. I don't think we can afford to rest Cabaye or Sissoko, maybe look to bring them off if Benfica score and the game on Thursday looks out of our reach.

Thought he would stay for a season in the Championship when they did eventually go down. That is if he has walked.
  9. We should go full out for both games, week until our next game after Sunderland. Strongest team available for both games.
  10. Stupid, stupid handball, really let himself down as he was having a great game. It is sometimes just reflex to stick your arm out, but when you have played as many top flight games as he has, there is next to no excuse. Really just daft of him.

    Alan Pardew

It's tough to say sack him when we have no clue whatsoever which manager the club would look to replace him with. I think providing we don't go down, he deserves a shot next season to put things right. What a buzz there was around the club last season, why can't he bring it back? I think the players should shoulder some responsibility for the poor performances this season, it isn't all bad tactics.

I would bet those saying we will sell players this summer, said the same thing before last summers window.

How do you misquote "I am a fascist, not a racist." And if you were misquoted as saying that, you would kick up a much bigger stink than he did, as far as he know he said nothing further about that interview.

    So aye, carry on Newton.

    Curtis Good

Wouldn't be too confident going into a Premier League season with Good as 4th choice. Think we should be in the market for two centre halves this summer, if Coloccini does leave as I assume he will.

He is not a fascist, he is a very happy man with a lovely tone to his voice. Loves a bit of a dance too.

I think if he had proven to be a good manager over a number of years, then you could look past his personality and political views and make a strong argument for him being the right man to take a football club forward. The very most I would have given him would have been a deal until the summer, but that would only have been after chasing a load of other targets. Certainly wouldn't have been my first choice as he has been Short's. Serious doubts over him long-term, and clearly he isn't seen as just a quick fix as he does have a 2 year deal. Interesting 7 games ahead for them, it's quite a bold gamble but a necessary one after the awful timing of O'Neill's sacking. Very few, real options available to them.

    sunderland

Wouldn't be my choice as a manager as I think there will be a fair few players who just wouldn't be keen on signing for Sunderland to play for him. As well as the numerous other reasons to turn down a move to them.

Very brave and bizarre appointment if he takes the job. Very interested in how it will pan out.

    Moussa Sissoko

Or perhaps he just performed above himself.

    Alan Pardew

There doesn't seem to be any willingness to change his thinking or the tactics a great deal. He still appears very confident in his own style of play despite what the results show. The team we have are more than capable of being able to play a decent game of football. He just needs to be braver, the fear of losing and the tactics he sends the team out with contribute greatly to the results we get.
  22. Nice strike. How was the rest of his game yesterday?
  23. Still, could have been massively worse. Says a lot to be disappointed by him missing our next game, given the bleak outlook shared by many after the assault by McManaman.
  24. Let's switch it around, if that tackle is Tiote on Figueroa, is Martinez so forgiving then? Made himself look like a right fool defending McManaman.
