  1. I think Leeds will beat Brentford, simply because they have to. On the presumption that Trippier is ready to start and Wilson also starts, I don't think we will lose to Burnley.
  2. "The missus and I went for a drink in town after we played there and had Sunderland fans jeering and sneering at us, going on about how they were all over us (they weren't) how boring we are to watch etc. Picking on a innocuous middle aged couple supporting a much smaller club? Definitely a huge chip on their collective shoulder." How many clubs have these fallen out with from acting like whoppers during their time in division three?
  3. "Sunderland's biggest problem is they talk Barcelona, while producing League 1." Barcelona of the North, marra
  4. Getting Jack Clarke and Patrick Roberts on loan was shrewd as fuck to be fair. Head and shoulders above this league.
  5. Hoof. Hoof. Hoof. Every fucking time.
  6. No quality in this game whatsoever. And how slow is Gregory for a striker? Looks like he's running with his legs tied together
  7. I thought the mackem mantra on gateshead was to accept that the majority support Newcastle but it was OK marra because "one of ours from there is worth ten of theirs." In terms of the football club I thought it was common knowledge that a lot of our dafties go and watch them if/when they're serving banning orders from nufc, unless that's not a thing anymore? Not condoning this behaviour but it can't be more than ten years since their fans got Channel by Gateshead at services on an awayday twice in a matter of months.
  8. It is considered a trophy, but it's (rightly imo) not a major trophy. How could it be when by definition the best teams in the country don't play in it? If we're honest, the big prize in that division is promotion to the PL with the trophy being no more than a nice bonus for whoever finishes top. Iirc you actually get a trophy to lift for finishing second in that division now If anyone starts trying to use second division titles to prove they're a "big club" then they're only really proving that they're not.
  9. Albert's chip from the same game for me, for all of the reasons in KI's post, but at 5 we were really rubbing the bastards' noses in it Honourable mentions to : - Cisse second at Chelsea - Tino third vs Barca when time just seemed stand still - Ryan Taylor over the wall for sending an away end ballistic - David Kelly vs Portsmouth for sending SJP ballistic - Rob Lee at Wembley - Pretty much any goal scored by Robert or Beardsley
  10. Could see Plymouth missing out altogether if they lose to sunderland- their recent form is patchy and their other 2 games are Wigan and MK Dons. Given that Sheff Wed and Wycombe also have to play each other and Wycombe have played a game more it would be some bottle job if sewder dewper sunlun don't make the playoffs from here.
  11. Bragging about having more glamorous trips to wembo than us then in the next breath telling us we don't know how spoilt we are not to be suffering their untold misery. Simultaneously both Top Dogs tm and incomprehensibly hard done to. Schroedingers sunderland.
  12. They've had an extraordinary number of feuds and spats for a club that is universally adored by neutrals across the world! Took 4 posts on that thread for the entire Shrewsbury fanbase to be outed as mags
  13. I lived in Bristol for a year 15 years ago. Lovely city full of (generally) smashing folk. Went to both grounds but took a shine to Rovers over the other lot. Was a good year for the gas as well, promotion in the playoffs at Wembley and a football league trophy final in Cardiff. Remember the carnage on Gloucester Road after the second leg of the southern final As for the reason the city hasn't got near to having a team in the top flight for ages, surely a contributing factor is the sheer amount of Man Utd "fans" there? They seemed more prevalent there than any other place I've lived. Seem to remember the local paper advertising its sports coverage with posters headed with three photos - a city player, a Rovers player and Wayne Rooney. What a kick in the face for the two local professional clubs!!
  14. "Respected Throughout Football, marra"
  15. I drove up for both of our home matches last week and the A19 / A1231 were both closed on at least one of those trips.
  16. Arguably the worst take I've ever seen on Twitter. A journalist writes an article criticising their owners and sticking up for their fans, and the immediate response is to grief him and bring our takeover into it. Why do no journalists want to cover sunderland?!? Can't imagine.
  17. That goal being disallowed is a fucking nonsense lets be honest. VAR is a blight on the game because in this country we can't use it properly and it needs binning off. It's not just me either, literally every person that sits around me in the Gallowgate was of the same view- if you have to spend two minutes checking whether an offside decision is correct, just go with the original decision. Think they admitted last year that their silly lines aren't even 100% correct anyway which makes it more ridiculous.
  18. Odd one yesterday. First half he was very inconsistent with yellow cards, McGinn in particular lucky to still be on the pitch. Second half I thought he gave a lot of very very soft free kicks against us and high foot only seemed to apply to one team. This is with my black and white glasses on of course, but my mates that support Villa are furious that they think he did everything he could to stop them scoring. Twitter is the same with both sets of fans adamant that he's a shit referee. Which is of course the correct answer.
  19. They will all agree to a man that he was shite (probably a secret mag) and they never wanted him anyway.
  20. There's definitely some truth in this like. The experience of being in our away support from 2000-2010 was markedly different from 2010-2020. Lots of factors at play of course other than if the team is doing well (eg effect of austerity on society, greater prevalence of certain drugs etc) but it's definitely a factor. For example having a season ticket with 160+ points taken off you and not being able to watch a team which is hopefully going places is a greater deterrent to causing bother than a potential ban from watching Carvers charvers when you've got the ticket on members sale. Not sure why but for some reason League Cup away games seem to be particularly bad for the whole hoying pints about, flares on the concourse brigade.
  21. When people start carrying on like that, they need help. Sick.
  22. Could take a proper battering here. 6-1 (Leeds don't keep clean sheets)
  23. Awful tackle. Both players involved on loan from the same club (Man City) as well!!
  24. 8 posts until we get a mention. Apparently taking the knee has "gone out the window" after our takeover.
