  1. I'd happily bin VAR off tomorrow I hate it. But it's not the fault of VAR as a system that both users thought the Forest player didn't mean to play the ball that he moved his foot towards Vaguely competent referees would have got that right regardless of VAR.
  2. If you think that's bad wait until you see the law on punishing drivers for speeding. It's the stupid fucking cars that are travelling fast but they get away with it every single time. Outrageous.
  3. As much as I despise VAR, it's not at fault for last night, other than its mere existence gave Tierney and whoever was on video the opportunity to showcase their unbelievable incompetence.
  4. Craig Hope is, and always has been an attention-seeking whopper. He's stirred this up for clicks. That said, the reaction of their fans on Twitter especially has been ridiculous. As soon as anything broke back in January they to a man have held the narrative that the fans made it up because we got beat and if not then it was our fans fault anyway. There's a massive denial culture there and they're more than happy to use the "disrespect to the 97" line to silence criticism of their club despite the Hillsborough families themselves expressing outrage that the stand is still up.
  5. Curry has grown on me the last two years or so. Aye he's a bit rough around the edges but I think he generally means well and tbf when he sets out to do something he manages to do it as well. Wish him well with it and hope the fanbase is kinder with him than he has been with NUST in the past.
  6. Sunday games are normally shite for atmosphere unless we're paying someone good/hated or the game turns into a belter. So I was pleasantly surprised with how the atnosphere was. Crowd started off the game getting behind the players rather than waiting to be entertained for the first time in a while. Also notable that a lot of the lowest section of the Gallowgate was standing throughout. Maybe that is where we should look to introduce safe standing along there at first. The first half performance definitely helped keep the atmosphere going, but the only let down for me was the silence just after they scored. Properly took the wind out of the crowd at a time when we really needed to be doubling down and getting behind them. It's always flat for the first 5 minutes of the second half but that's an ingrained habit that's been there for as long as I can remember!!
  7. Massive piss head by all accounts and not the first twitter rampage he's been on. Needs to put the bottle down.
  8. From 80 metres away in the Gallowgate it looked like a nailed on penalty watching the clip above I'm not sure. From the first angle it looks like Pope pulls his arm away before any contact. Which might explain why Jimenez didn't appeal if he didn't get the contact he was anticipating?!? Either way I'd hope our strikers would be screaming blue murder for that if it happened with them and I'm surprised he wasn't
  9. This is the key point for me like. Yes Hillsborough is outdated but having been there myself on multiple occasions it isn't fundamentally unsafe if the movement of people is managed better. I'm not an expert but seems that controlling the flow of fans into/through the long tunnel would solve a big issue without having to reduce capacity?
  10. He didn't get much right today at all this prat. Thought we got the benefit more often than not as well.
  11. Movement off the ball was really good today and love how direct he was when running at the defence. Scared the shit out of them.
  12. Not confident about this. Wolves are a decent enough squad with some very talented players but they're also in this mental relegation scrap so should really be fighting for their lives. Nearly 5/1 for them to win is really good value imo.
  13. This was my first thought too πŸ˜‚ "Boardbusters" and all that.
  14. The idea that any (English) stadium is full of fans who consistently sing for 90 minutes is bollocks like. Elland Road was flat as owt in 16/17 after the first 15 minutes. This after the local media had spent all week going on like you wouldn't believe about how hostile it was going to be. There have been posts in this thread piping Man U off as being the best fans going but we've seen this week for the second time this season if things aren't going their way they're quite happy to fuck off just after halftime leaving the away end empty. This time last year SJP was rocking, now it's generally not. English football in general suffers with this kind of swing between fans as customers or as partisan supporters and imo we’re no better or worse. What's the answer? I think safe standing is a real opportunity and I'm particularly encouraged by reading what @Wallsendmag made of Chelsea midweek because it's a stadium I've never found to be particularly intimidating or noisy.
  15. This is a fair point and it's helpful to retain some perspective here. I live in Leeds and all of their fans are proud of the home atmosphere at Elland Road. The only other ground they think can hold a candle to it for atmosphere is SJP. Mind you it probably helps that the three times they've been recently have been a Friday night or NYE with everyone pissed up and rowdy πŸ˜‚
  16. They will absolutely piss and moan and whinge all they can about it. "I've been in this seat since 1994 and was planning on leaving it to my grandson in his will" types. It's why I'm glad that it's the club leading on this and not any kind of fan group or even the trust. Reduces the opportunity for accusations that this is all about pushing an agenda, Alex Hurst is doing this just to steal my grandads seat etc. The club can be ruthless and get away with it because, well, it's their stadium.
  17. Couldn't agree more with this!!
  18. This is a great point and IMO has more to do with the redeveloped SJP not being as noisy than anything to do with the structure and acoustics
  19. It's partly a reaction to Sunday (which is a little knee jerk in my own opinion) but it's also a fair point that the atmosphere at SJP is very hit and miss unless we're in the shit. Fwiw it's never going back to what it was when the terraces were up, habits are longstanding now and the demographic is different as well. But safe standing "singing/shouting/jumping about like a daft cunt" areas would be a good start. I'd personally start with small "trial" areas behind each goal then look to expand once others see how much more fun it looks. Go too big too early and you're still going to get too many who are there to experience rather than create the atmosphere which will defeat the purpose. I don't mean to sound grumpy or dishearten anyone but I remember articles in the mag about this as far ago as Keegan first spell. There is, and has been for a long time, a lot of our support who won't go out of its way to make noise unless the situation demands it. And tbh it's the same across the country. Best of luck to anyone that tries to take it on and they'll have my (full throated) support.
  20. Got sang at a game recently (Southampton away leg perhap s) and I got as far as that word before stopping abruptly thinking "shit, did I used to sing that??" Sign of the times I suppose
