I'd be amazed if we can afford those wages whilst a) complying with FFP and b) without pissing the rest of the squad off. I'm not so sure 90m euros is wise on one player either with FFP

Without wanting to read the 26 pages that are new in this thread since this morning, I sincerely hope that posters haven't been too mean and you stick around on here. I really enjoyed your detailed posts this morning about this player, his tactical acumen, where he would fit etc. If this transfer does happen- and it's still a big "if" then I hope it works out well for all parties and that your owners reinvest the money smartly to improve the squad. Also next time we're linked with a Milan player I want to read you writing "after we passed on Botman and then discarded our cast-off Tonali to you..." ?

That's post of the year sewn up right there.

Looks a bit like me, the poor sod.

Re: the Magic weekend, I do believe that the RFL are looking at the calendar (or IMG are anyway) and this may make the weekend in the longer term. BUT I think to some extent the recent public comments are about trying to cut themselves a better deal.
-
What Man Utd getting a decision when they're struggling and need it? Cour me shocked.
-
If Casemiro played for anyone else VAR would be getting involved there. Think it was him that did similar in the final against us and got away with it and all?
-
Mourinho is responsible for his behaviour last night which was disgusting and he needs to be made an example of. But he isn't responsible for the dickheads at the airport. They're fully grown adults who can make their own decisions about their behaviour and need to (or should anyway) suffer the consequences themselves.
-
Yep. A lot easier than going into the dressing room and telling himself/his players to fuck off and they're all a fucking disgrace for being shit second half.

Taylor is one of the ones I've got a bit of time for. He has stuck at it and seems to have actually improved over time. Or maybe it's just that we've not had any stupid decisions from him in a while and that has skewed my opinion. Either way Mourinho needs the book throwing at him for that last night. He might think it's funny for him to do it when there's lots of security to make sure nothing gets out of hand and cameras to vroadcast to the world that he's still a "bit of a character." But what kind of message does that set for grass roots football, that it's OK to wait in the car park for the ref and harass him about a match when you got some but just not all decisions go your way?

Player of the Season: 1. Trippier 2. Joelinton 3. Every fucker else Most Improved Player of the Season: 1. Longstaff 2. Miggy 3. Murphy Most Disappointing Player: 1. Dubravka for being a gloryhunting tit 2. Fraser for being a bogstandard tit 3. Gordon for being a bit shit after costing £40m Signing of the Season: 1. Isak 2 Botman 3. Pope Goal of the Season: So many to pick from. 1/2: Maxi at Wolves or Almiron at Fulham. Can't choose. 3: Trippier vs Man City 4. Schar vs Forest 5. Murphy vs Spurs Assist of the season: 1/2 Isak dribble to set up Murphy tap-in at Everton or Willock pass to Isak home to Spurs. Again cant pick one. 3. Think it was Schar that played the ball through for Joelinton at West Ham? Game of the Season: 1. Man Utd (h) 2. Spurs (h) 3. Man City (h) Moment of the Season: 1. Eddie Howe running towards the away fans on Sunday punching the air and letting a bit of emotion out after staying so calm all season. 2. Isak penalty at Forest. Winning away from home in injury time is just special 3. Final whistle vs Leicester to confirm Champions League Manager rating out of 10: 10 Season rating out of 10: 10

That away end on Sunday was brilliant. Continuous noise from start to finish and beyond. Was looking forward to it all week as a celebratory atmosphere and it didn't let me down!! One of the stewards at halftime said it's the best atmosphere he has witnessed at a match.

Player of the Season: Haaland Most Improved Player of the Season: Surprise package of the season: Fulham Most Disappointing Player: Nunez Signing of the Season: Haaland Most disappointing team of the season: Crowded field for this one, but the nod goes to Leeds for losing their last 2 games with barely a whimper. Goal of the Season: Jonny for Wolves vs Leeds Game of the Season: Quite enjoyed Leicester vs Everton a few weeks ago for end-to-end action in a crucial match with plenty of jeopardy for the lovers. Manager of the Season: Guardiola (if they complete the treble), otherwise Robert de Zerbi Team of the Season: Not particularly imaginative but again if they win the treble it's got to be Man City, but if they don't then Brighton

On the Premier League's first day in 1992 we had the biggest crowd in the country iirc even though we were 2nd division* at the time. Arsenal, Everton and Leeds were at home that day. Re: the bit in bold: Aye, there were a while range of factors that I'd probably put together under the umbrella of "gentrification of football." Started with Italia 90, then the PL, Fantasy football Euro 96, the likes of Chris Evans and Zoe Ball, all made football more mainstream in the national conscience. *sorry but I'll be deep in the cold, cold ground before call the second tier of English football "Division 1."
-
Without looking at the data I'd contend that most clubs in the top flight, maybe even top two divisions saw their attendances double between 1990 and 2000. Bloody Keegan!!!
-
Marriner was all at sea tonight (pardon the pun.) I actually thought we got the benefit of most of it especially when it came to dishing out yellow cards where he was very lenient. That said there were some odd decisions went their way as well.
-
Take it you haven't had the misfortune of coming across Simon Hooper then?
-
Lass at work who is of that persuasion refers to herself as a lemon. She's from Keighley. First time she said it in conversation I thought I had misheard, second time I asked sheepishly and diplomatically to check it meant what I thought it did. And yes, it did.
-
Tierney is horrendous like. Constantly guessing because he's in a bad position and can't see things clearly. Made more irritating by that stupid half-smirk half-grin after he's made any sort of decision. Like a toddler coming to tell you with pride that they've just shit on the floor again.

Newcastle United vs. Leicester City: 22/05/23 @ 20:00 (Sky Sports)

Aye. Not just the red on the night and the following suspension, but getting involved in too much of that shite is allowing our focus to be distracted and is exactly what they will want. -
Aye, it's always been the same as far as I can remember. Barry in the Box? Cunt. Alan Robson? Cunt. The current lad Rob? Cunt. Some of the criticism is deserved like, the ridiculous volume it's blasted out at, "Enjoy the game" and Doris fucking Day were all indefensible. But a lot of ilthe criticisms do come down to subjective taste. For example, Yorkie said above thinks the version of Blaydon Races that gets played at the match is good, a lot of us think it's pish. There will be thousands of people with both opinions across the matchgoing fanbase and both are valid enough opinions. People tend to be more vocal about something that they want changed than about something they think is OK. So the volume of negativity you read especially online won't be a fair reflection of the fanbase's feelings as a whole towards the DJ.

Fucking hell!!! The football administrators in England are incompetent buffoons and possibly biased as hell But they're angels compared to nasty fuckers like this. Defending the indefensible.
-
If we qualify for the CL he could play fucking sunderland songs and I wouldn't give a shit.
-
That would be funny as fuck tbh.
